China Glaze Up & Away Swatches, Review and Comparisons – Part 2

china-glaze-up-and-away-collection-spring-2010 Sorry for the delay Fanatics! Mother Nature has not been playing nice. The lighting here in the Cleveburg has been atrocious so I’ve been waiting with bated breath to swatch the rest of this collection.

Though over the past few days, I’ve had plenty of time to stare at the polishes all lined up and they keep making me crave ice cream regardless of the freezing cold temperatures.  It’s like looking in the Baskin Robbins case trying to decide between a soft, sweet sherbet or multi-colored scoop of Superman.  Yum!!

Today I have the blues, greens and cheese-stands-alone peach for you.  Check out their deliciousness after the jump!

Show Me Your Mannequin Hands!

mannequin-hand With a few notable exceptions, I spent a lot of my time backstage at Fashion Week saying, where’s the color?? It was my first time covering the Spring collections in person and while I expected a lot of neutral nails, it seemed to be a trend that carried over into the makeup and hair as well.

I can’t tell you how many times the words “pretty, clean, fresh, young” were bandied about by the hair and makeup teams. That’s not to say that the looks were simple but myself and a lot of other bloggers/editors were looking for the color.  So much so that we almost squealed with delight to see a vibrant blue shadow or bold pink lip.

In regards to nails, one of the terms that kept popping up was “Mannequin Hands.” The use of a flesh toned nail polish to elongate the hands and give that plastic-y, doll-like effect.

Deborah Lippmann chose her nude creme, Fashion, for the models at Lela Rose and Marc Jacobs requested multiple shades of OPI polish to match his models’ complexions.  CND’s Putty and Desert Suede popped up on more runways than I can count.  So what does that mean Fanatics?  That like it or not, the “mannequin hands” look is coming our way for Spring.

Though here’s the thing.  I’m only one person and what I may consider my Mannequin Hands shade certainly won’t work for everyone else.  And as much as I try to recommend polishes based on the descriptions you all give me, a photograph truly is worth a thousand words.  So here is what I’d like you to do. Show me your Mannequin Hands!

Actually, you’ll be showing all of us.  Submit swatch pictures to me, showing off the shade that gives you that Mannequin Hands look, and I’ll share them here on ALU. Tell me what shade you’re using and your foundation color.  If you know your MAC shade, that would be awesome.  It seems that a lot of us know if we’re an NC20 or an NW45.  Hopefully this will help all of you out there locate that perfect nude and, who knows, you just might find your hand twin.

Email your swatch submissions to editor[at]alllacqueredup[dot]com with the subject, Mannequin Hands.  Please include how I should credit you in the post (first name only, MUA username, etc), the polish name, your foundation color and anything else you’d like to say about the polish.  I would prefer that you submit polishes that are currently available in your country but if a discontinued shade is your best match, so be it.

I’ll be accepting submissions through January 15th but I’ll start posting them at the beginning of January so we’ll be all set for Spring.  I look forward to seeing your pics and your Mannequin Hands.

Quick Update

I’ve received some questions regarding some functions here on ALU and wanted to update you on a few things.

1. Comment Form – Something was wrong with the comment form. Apparently the site I was using to manage it was taken over so the form stopped working. I have it all set up again so it should work fine now.

2. Gallery – The gallery is down at the moment. I had someone helping me with things and she straight up disappeared. People are awesome, huh? So I’m working my butt off to find a resolution thanks to the kindness of a fellow blogger. I hope to be able to have that back up and working soon. I’ll let you know when it’s active.

3. Feed – I didn’t realize when I moved from Blogger that so many of you were subscribing to the feed that blogger assigns so I lost a LOT of you in that process. I have since redirected the feed but if you want to update your readers for the future, my feed address is http://www.alllacqueredup.com/feed

4. Email – I’ve been moving hosts and having some downtime as a result (I’m sure you noticed) and that means I lost quite a few emails along the way. If you emailed me and did not hear back, please resend. You may have been lost in the moves/downtime. So so sorry about that.

Other than that, everything should be running normally. I’m hoping the headaches are over with the exception of the gallery issue. If you see any other problems with the site, please let me know.

china-glaze-up-and-away-collection-spring-2010 I don’t know about you but after this train wreck of a year, I could use some mood lifters to kick off 2010 and the Up & Away collection from China Glaze fits the bill.

I try to keep ALU positive so I haven’t really shared the disaster that was 2009 for me.  Professionally it’s been a dream year, personally a train wreck. I really won’t get into the deets but can we all hope for a happy 2010??  I’m gearing up wearing the fun, uplifting shades from Up & Away, a collection of creamy pastels and bright pops of color.

I’m breaking the collection up into three parts so I can show you color comparisons for each shade.  With 12 colors, that would be one LONG post so I broke it up to make it easier to digest.  Let’s kick this party off with the purples and yellows.  Check them out!
