For the ninth consecutive season, Prabal Gurung has collaborated with Sally Hansen to create a set of nail polishes representative of his runway collection. The Sally Hansen Spring 2015 Prabal Gurung Collection is inspired by, “the global traveler and a Himalayan trek at dusk, as well as the work of artist Tara Donovan.” Check out the three limited-edition shades below.
Before you start snoring over the idea of “spring florals,” wait a minute and check out L’Oreal’s take on the perennial spring trend. There are no boring pastels or trite carnation pinks in the L’Oreal Haute Florals collection. I spotted a display, featuring nail art by L’Oreal Global Nail Designer, Tom Bachik, at my local Bed, Bath and Beyond a month ago and scooped up a few bottles, knowing it will sell out. It’s rolling out to retailers nationwide now, so don’t wait to snag your favorites.
As New York Fashion Week begins, I can’t help but lament not being there. Mainly because of all the genius beauty gurus and writer friends I get to see when covering backstage. Jin Soon Choi is one of those people because she is an arbiter of nail fashion and one of the warmest, friendliest people you will ever meet.
So, while I sit here in Cleveland, watching the action from afar, I take some joy in wearing Jin’s latest collection, a fashion collaboration, JINsoon Tess Giberson for Fall 2014. Jin has a knack for delivering finishes that are unique and interesting yet understated and this collection is no exception.

I’m calling the second half of the OPI Nordic collection for Fall 2014, 50 Shades of Tan. Okay, I’m exaggerating but there are a lot of neutrals here. So much so, that they seem better suited for the Wild, Wild, West than the Nordic countries. This bright dotticure was inspired by the little girls who live on my street. A couple of them like to pop by when the boyfriend and I are dining on our deck and they’ve become fascinated with my nail polish room and constantly changing manicures. In fact, one held her arms out wide and declared, “Your obsession is this big,” when looking into my office. She’s totally right, ha!
Anyway, last night they came over and I invited them in to see all the Helmer drawers of color, swatch wheels and random nonsense in my room. And together, they decided that my nails needed polka dots in these two colors so I went with it. The 4-year-old who LOVES pink, as most little girls do, was adamant that this new L’Oreal Colour Riche shade go on my nails.
I used the L’Oreal Neons shade, Punchy Lychee, with Rimmel LONDON Salon Pro shade, BritPop, for the dots. And even though Punchy Lychee is more orange-coral than pink-coral, as the bottle color inferred, I love this combo and may need to consult with them from now on. I mean, I have the same taste in music as the 10-year-old, so, why not?
What’s on your nails today? Have you tried the L’Oreal Neons or new Rimmel Salon Pro formula?Disclosure: Product samples were provided by reps for L’Oreal. I bought the Rimmel shade. For more info view my Disclosure Policy.
