As you know, the Rescue Beauty Lounge 50% Off Sale took place a couple weeks ago and I just happened to be in NYC at the time. Of course I was on a boat when the sale started and my cell phone was failing me big time. Thank goodness for my pal Carla from Product Girl who was able to place my order for me. Talk about a lifesaver! Anyway, my order arrived on Wednesday and since I was in the midst of organizing my charity beauty sale, I haven’t had a chance to play with them until now.

Film Noir, Cherry Love, Starfish-Patrick and Ani

See what they look like on the nail and find out what Ji from RBL is up to next, after the jump!

My Top 5 Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polishes

rescue-beauty-lounge With the Rescue Beauty Lounge 50% Off Sale looming in the near future, I’ve been receiving quite a few requests inquiring about my favorite RBL nail polishes.

If it isn’t completely evident, I’m beyond smitten with RBL and the owner Ji Baek.  After chatting with her for the past couple years I’m honored to call her a friend.  Though for the sake of this blog,  regardless of my personal feelings, I’m completely unbiased when it comes to Ji’s polish.

Hands down RBL has one of the best formulas I’ve ever encountered.  The cremes are near impossible to beat.  I’m sure most fanatics would agree that, in spite of the price, RBLs are worth the investment.  That’s why this sale is such a big deal to the nail community.  A chance to stock up on RBL for half price is like the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve (my favorite holidays) all rolled into one.

So which RBL nail polishes made the ALU Top 5?  Read on to find out.

The Rescue Beauty Lounge 50% Off Sale Is Coming!

rescue-beauty-lounge Prepare your wallets Fanatics.  Ji Baek from Rescue Beauty Lounge is hosting another 50% Off Sale for her loyal fans.

What? 50% off RBL nail polishes.  The Real Housewives of the Tudor Dynasty are NOT part of the sale.

When? November 1st, 2010. 11am-4pm EST

Who? The sale is open to newsletter subscribers only so make sure you sign up for the RBL email list.

A few FYIs as stated on RBL’s Facebook page:
No free shipping.  Orders will take 10-15 days.  This will likely be the last sale of this kind. Also, do not fill your shopping cart prior to the sale as it will mess up the inventory.

Ji pushed up the date of the sale this year to accommodate for the holidays but remember, this is a small company hand packing each order so please be patient after the sale is over.  I can’t even imagine the number of orders that will be placed and how much time it will take to ship them all out.

That being said, happy shopping!!  Which colors do you plan to buy?  Will there be a lot of gifts bought during the sale? If you need some inspiration be sure to check out my past Rescue Beauty reviews.

ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge – SS 2011 Day 1

That’s right Fanatics.  I’m attempting my bi-annual NYFW NOTD Challenge.  I’m challenging myself to change my nail color every day of Fashion Week no matter how tired and worn out I am.

NOTD Challenge lesson learned… DON’T apply nail polish less than hour before you leave for the airport. Why? Because no matter how quick drying your top coat is, you’re going to wreck yourself. Case in point, moi!

I have this travel ritual. I never sleep the night before a trip. I’m always up doing laundry, packing, clearing out the DVR, etc. Totally random stuff including giving myself a manicure. In a perfect world I would be more organized but I’m always so afraid I’ll forget something that I stay up all night crossing every “t” and dotting every “i” on my packing list.

That pretty much sums up my Wednesday night as I prepared for my early morning flight to NYC. Usually I do my manicure way earlier in the evening so it’s set and dry by the time I leave but this time, not so much. I thought an hour would be good enough but even using my beloved Olan Quick & Slick top coat I ended up eff’ing up my manicure with Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne before I even got to the airport. Picking up my bag, that barely weighed in under 50 lbs, I completely biffed the nails on my left hand. UGH! An entire day spent backstage and with other editors having them look at my janky nails. Good times!

I mean, just look at that mess. Embarrassing! Fortunately I didn’t have a ton on my plate yesterday. Just two shows, nothing major, and I hid my left hand from the world. The sucky part was that I wore Anne knowing I’d be seeing Ji from RBL and it’s a good thing she sat to my right since that hand still looked flawless! All I can say is that I was very happy to come back to my room with an excuse for a polish change.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne goes on sale at RescueBeauty.com later this month for $18/bottle. Pre-orders will ship out then as well.

FYI, this shot isn’t a great color representation. This is more for show & tell purposes. To see Anne in all her glory check out my RBL Fall 2010 review.

rescue beauty lounge fall 2010 collection bottles. the real housewives of the tudor dynasty The Rescue Beauty Lounge Fall 2010 Collection pre-order is just hours away, are your trigger fingers ready? Remember you must be on the RBL email list to receive the link to the pre-order that starts at 1pm EST and ends tomorrow.  Otherwise you will have to wait until the collection goes on sale sometime in September and hope there is enough stock.

The pre-order is just that, a pre-order.  It’s your chance to reserve the colors you want from the Fall collection when the September shipment comes in.  RBL limited edition shades sell out fast so if there’s a color you know you want, you better jump on it now.

I want to thank you all for participating in my new method of doing comparisons.  Your suggestions shaped this post and reminded me of some colors I never would have thought of.  I hope this is useful in your purchase decisions not only to discover the existence of dupes but to get a better understanding of how the colors look by showing them next to shades in the same color family.
