Sally Hansen Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure

sally hansen complete salon manicure midnight ny hidden treasure bottle Last September during NYFW, Sally Hansen unveiled their new Complete Salon Manicure line and the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2010 Runway Collection.  Two of the shades, Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure were layered to create the nail look for the show.

I’ve already beyond raved over the Complete Salon Manicure formula when I wore it during my NYFW NOTD Challenge so I’ll spare you my gushing but wonky brush or not, this polish wears like iron.  And the combination of Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure is not only gorgeous, it resembles a certain hard-to-find polish that many of you hunted for last fall.  See what I’m talking about after the jump!

ALU at NYFW – Tracy Reese FW 2010

tracy-reese-fw-2010-nyfw I told you all about my experience watching the Tracy Reese Fall 2010 collection walk the runways from the front of the house and now I’m taking you backstage to talk beauty.

Dana Caruso for Sally Hansen, Charlotte Willer for Maybelline and Jeanie Syfu for Tresemme were responsible for bringing together the hair, makeup and nails to create a “country meets city chic” look for the models. The hair was full of texture, the eye sparkled and the nails were all out cool as the lace nail made an appearance at NYFW.

Read on for the full details and a look at the Fall Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen collection.

The Lancôme L’Wren Scott Nail Collaboration Is Coming

lwren-scott-nail-polish-lancome A little birdie tweeted in my ear that the blue-grey custom blend polish Lancôme created exclusively for the L’Wren Scott Fall 2010 runway will make its way to counters by the end of this year.  The shade, that looks to be a metallic, worked perfectly with the sexy smokey eye Aaron De Mey created.  I only wish I could have been backstage to see it in person.

Full details on the look from Lancôme:

Lancôme Artistic Director for Makeup Aaron De Mey once again teamed up with L’Wren Scott, designer and stylist extraordinaire, to do the makeup for her seasonal presentation at the all-white Gagosian Gallery on Manhattan’s West Side. The makeup look Aaron created was decidedly glam rock and complemented Serge Normant’s cotton candy brands and L’Wren’s sexy, structured silhouette.

After prepping the skin, Aaron applied a layer of Teinte Idole foundation with his fingers, then added a layer of Shu Uemura loose powder for a matte finish. Aaron used Blush Subtil in Shimmer Mocha Havana on the apples of the cheeks and along the cheekbone, all the way to the hairline. The result was a major cheek.

Next came the eyes, the most dramatic part of L’Wren’s makeup look. Aaron used Ombre Magnétique in Black from his upcoming Fall 2010 collection all over the lid and all the way up to the brow bone. Then he used the silver Ombre shade around the tear duct to catch the light and add impact. Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony was used along the waterline. Multiple coats of the new Hypnôse Drama mascara on upper and lower lashes completed the look.

Aaron kept the lip color neutral so as not to distract from the hypnotic eyes. He used L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere over which he put La Lacque Fever in Sensation, a glossy nude shade coming this fall.

The most fun part of the look was the models’ blue-grey manicures with a special color that Lancôme customized just for L’Wren.

So we didn’t get Pop Petrol in the US but we are definitely getting this standout shade.  Though wouldn’t it be amazing if Lancôme brought Pop Petrol to our shores and paired it with this polish as special set?  Lancôme are you listening??  Hmm, what would it be called?  What would you name this color?

A Peek At CND’s Look For Fall 2010

cnd-colour-effects I was backstage at the Karen Walker show when I got my first glimpse of the new CND Colour & Effect for fall and it took all my composure not to knock people down to get up close and personal with the new GREEN, yes I said green, for Fall 2010.

For fall CND is taking us on an urban adventure and it all starts with an extremely gorgeous Colour that is a blend of green, blue and gray paired with an electrifying Sparkle Effect.  I had the chance to speak with CND’s Jan Arnold and she shared with me “The Look” for fall and its fashion inspiration.  Check out the new Urban Oasis Colour & Teal Sparkle Effect and hear the whole color story after the jump!

CND Monday – A New Fave Found At THREEASFOUR

alu-cnd-monday-dark-ruby-ice-blue-shimmer Welcome to CND Monday, a regular series here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.

One of the reasons I love going to NYC for Fashion Week is to observe the nail wizards that work on the CND team.  Their creativity astounds me and I always pick up some new nail trick or color to bring home with me.  This season was no different as I discovered a layering combination that surprised me.

One of the last shows I covered before heading home was threeASFOUR and even though it was the day of the massive snowstorm in NYC, I HAD to trek on down to Milk Studios to see what was happening on the nails.  Remembering the unique triangle shaped moon manicure created by Roxanne Valinoti last February, I knew I’d see something special.

Check out the new layering combination I discovered and three other nail looks created for the show after the jump!
