ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – OPI Sparrow Me The Drama with Silver Shatter

opi sparrow me the drama nail polish and opi silver shatter crackle nail polish 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

What day is it? What time is it? I seriously have no clue at this point. The time change from Cleveland to Vegas has me in such a tailspin that I honestly have no idea if it’s Monday, Tuesday or Sunday. I rarely have this type of reaction to flying outside my own time zone but this trip is really throwing me off.

Maybe there’s something in the air because Deborah Lippmann mentioned this morning that she’s all out of sorts. That her typical spot-on sense of direction is so off that she keeps getting lost in the Mandalay Bay, a hotel she has stayed in many times. At least I fly home tomorrow night (gotta love the red eye) and will hopefully be back on track asap.

So far I have met some amazing people and seen lots of fun products and colors at Cosmoprof (more on that to come) but I had a major fangirl moment when I met Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, EVP & Executive Artistic Director of OPI. I’ve had the privilege to speak with some incredible people in this industry but Suzi has always been at the top of my nail bucket list and today I can finally cross her off. It seems only fitting that I meet her the day I delve into OPI Sparrow Me The Drama from the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection as part of my commitment to inject more pink/red into the 365.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – BK Cracking Jade Green Crackle Nail Polish

bk cracking jade green crackle nail polish 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

I’m sure you are tired of me saying, over and over again, that I’m not a big fan of crackle manicures. One of the main reasons I don’t like it is the way the new generation shatters. I loved the old school CoverGirl Crackle Lacquer with its subtle multi-directional veining. Not the thick, chunky shards that we’re currently seeing.

Now last summer when I first wrote about crackle nail polish, I mentioned an etailer that sold another type of crackle called BK Cracking. I ordered a bunch but when I received them, the polish flaked off so I thought they were duds and threw them to the wayside.

THEN, the clouds parted, birds sang and I saw the light thanks to Styrch from Pretty In Dayton. She posted about a crackle polish called Kelier and thanks to her application tips I was able to get the BK Cracking to work. Check it out!

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – China Glaze Oxidized Aqua Crackle Glaze Metal

china glaze oxidized aqua nail polish from the china glaze crackle glaze metals collection 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

By now you probably are aware that I’m not the biggest fan of the crackle nail polish trend. I’m not hating on it per se, I’m just not fully on board. Something about the first sets of crackles didn’t thrill me. They were chunky looking and felt dated. However, I find myself crying “UNCLE!” ever since the metallic crackles started to pop up. They are definitely a fun twist on an old look and, well, I usually give in to anything sparkly.

Case in point, the China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals. Foil metallic crackle polish that comes in six colors? Okay, okay I give. It does look pretty cool. See for yourself.

China Glaze Introduces Six New Crackle Glaze Polishes in Sparkling Metallics for Summer 2011

There are even more crackles on the horizon. Crackle nail polish fans can rejoice over the China Glaze Crackle Metals collection. I’ve recently been playing with some metallic crackles from Sally Hansen and OPI and as much as I haven’t given in to the trend, I must admit the metallic versions are pretty cool looking. A whole collection of metallics definitely has me intrigued. My only question is, where is the GREEN crackle love?

Keep reading for an up close look at the Crackle Metals bottles and shade descriptions.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Models Own Moody Grey and China Glaze Crushed Candy Crackle Glaze

models-own-moody-grey-china-glaze-crackle-crushed-candy-nail-polish-bottle 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Today’s manicure was inspired by turquoise rings I saw on Tumblr. I know I’m so late to the Tumblr party but I’m really enjoying it. Anywho, when I saw those rings I reblogged the pic stating that if crackle nail polish could create veining like what appears on those rings, I would be more into it.

Now I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m on the fence when it comes to crackle. I’ve seen people use it in ways that look good, like Kellie Gonzo’s manicure using OPI Silver Shatter, but for the most part I haven’t been its biggest fan.

Today while attempting to replicate a turquoise ring using Models Own Moody Grey and China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Crushed Candy I may have leaned a bit more in crackle’s favor. I wouldn’t go printing me a Team Crackle tee shirt just yet but I “could” get there.
