Scenes from Cosmoprof – A Look At Essie Holiday & Winter 2011

essie winter holiday 2011 nail polish collection cosmoprof vegas I recently attended the Cosmoprof North America business to business beauty trade show in Las Vegas and, as always, it was completely overwhelming, in a good way. Imagine an enormous convention center filled with rows upon rows of beauty brands, manufacturers, packaging companies, etc. debuting their latest products and innovations. I didn’t know which way to go first.

In years past I haven’t made it to the Essie booth. In part because they make it look so secretive with the surrounding walls. This year however, I met the adorable and charming Dominic and Melissa who took me on a tour of the upcoming Winter & Holiday 2011 collections. Sadly, Essie was not at the show this year but I’m sure I’ll run into her in a few weeks during New York Fashion Week.

Dominic, by the way, told me he reads my blog (so flattering) and when I playfully questioned him, he replied, “I know that you store your nail polish in IKEA Helmers!” How cute is that?!?

Let’s check out what Essie is bringing to the nail polish party in the upcoming months including some hints about SPRING!

Cosmoprof 2010 Day 2 Recap

cosmoprof-day-2-2010 Monday was utter craziness at Cosmoprof North America. Christine and I arrived bright and early and hit the ground running.

We met with the teams at CND, OPI, Orly, SpaRitual and Zoya and I think by the end of the day we were both visually overwhelmed.  You can’t really grasp the scope of how large this show is unless you’re here.  Outside of all the major nail, hair and skin care brands that are represented there are a tons of smaller and international brands to check out.

Three of the big trends I’m noticing are keratin treatments, hair tinsel and gel polish.  The amount of brands that have come out with those three products is exploding.  Check out our finds from Day 2 after the jump!

Cosmoprof 2010 Day 1 Recap

cosmoprof-day-1-2010 The first day of Cosmoprof is over and I’m beat! The day just flew by and there’s still so much more to see. In case you’re not familiar, Cosmoprof is a beauty trade show that takes place in Las Vegas. Brands from the salon and spa industry come together to sell their wares and it’s not just products. There are packaging companies, product manufacturers and salon equipment suppliers here as well.  Plus there are sections for emerging brands and international brands. So cool! It’s a bit overwhelming but really interesting to explore.

From now through Tuesday I’ll be at the show checking out our favorite salon brands to see what they have in store for us nail fanatics and showing you any great finds I discover. Also, I have a new contributor to the site, Christine, who will be sharing her thoughts on the show with you as well. Christine is a friend I met via Specktra ages ago and she’s as big a nail fanatic as I am. Seriously, not long after we met, she purchased a full size OPI display rack to hold her polishes and it’s more than full. Anyway, check out what caught our eye on Day One of Cosmoprof!

Cosmoprof Sneak Peek – Art Club Glam

Coming soon from Color Club/Art Club are these nail decals, called Glam, that are along the lines of Minx but way cooler.  The designs are on a clear background so you can apply them over polish and have the color show through.

According to the rep I spoke with, you simply apply them and add a top coat.  They last until you take them off with remover.  The plaid and metallic animals prints have me intrigued.  I’m normally not a nail art girl but this looks easy enough that even a klutz like me could do it.

What do you think? Is this something you would try, I’ll update you with launch info as soon as I have it.
