Chanel Jade Nail Collection Swatches & Review

The highly anticipated, much hyped Chanel Jade Nail Collection just arrived at my doorstep and I’m literally dying inside over it (in a good way of course). I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for Jade to come into my life ever since I spotted it on the Chanel runway last winter. While we’ve been inundated with some gorgeous pale/mint greens this year, they still didn’t satisfy my desire for Jade. I don’t know about all of you but inside my head I kept thinking, “We need a shimmer!” Well, now we have it! Check out Jade and Jade Rose after the jump.

Now I don’t want to get your hopes up for a blingasm when I say shimmer. In this collection it’s very subtle, a wink if you will. Very much in line with Chanel’s typical understated shimmer style. In Jade Rose it’s practically indiscernible in natural light. My only disappointment with these polishes is the pigmentation. I did need three coats with both shades even though they applied flawlessly.

Jade lives up to all my expectations in terms of color. Peter Philips I could just kiss you!! It’s soft yet vivid, like a melt-away mint on a caffeine rush. It’s not totally green, there are definitely some blue undertones to it.

It’s funny, I had seen some random pics online and wasn’t sure I’d like it. The runway shots looked uber-pale and washed out and the others all made the color look really bright, almost neon. I can only assume they were taken with flash or in poor lighting. Not that I’m a photography wizard but on my screen this shot looks pretty close to dead-on and it’s not pale or neon.

For you dupe hounds your wallet may hate to hear this but Jade has no twins. Even if you ignore the shimmer factor, it still falls somewhere between OPI Damone Roberts 1968 and MAC Peppermint Patti and doesn’t even live in the same town as Barry M Mint Green or OPI Hey Get In Lime!.
I was so geeked over Jade that I almost forgot about Jade Rose, a dusty, rose pink. The shimmer only shows up in sunlight and it doesn’t have the wow factor of Jade but paired together as a collection and as a mani/pedi combo it makes total sense. I love the idea of combining mint and rose and I’m already imagining a Jade Rose mani with Jade tips. That may be too funky for Chanel but I live in a “why not?” world.

The Jade Nail Collection retails for $25/ea and goes on sale next Friday, September 11th. Jade Nail will only be available online at Chanel.com and at Chanel Boutiques and Makeup Studios. Sign up on the website to be notified when the collection goes live.

BUT NYC Fanatics you’re in luck. During Fashion’s Night Out this coming Thursday the Chanel SoHo Boutique will be offering manis with Jade Nail at the Champagne Nail Bar. I’ll be in the city for Fashion Week and hope to stop by the store for what sounds like a spectacular event. I hope those of you in the area can make it.

So does Jade wow you? Are you loving it as much as I am? Who’s buying? Are you planning to stalk the site until it’s on sale? Share!

  1. Misty says:

    They are stunning!

  2. Henna says:

Alas, I'm just not one for greens, but I love your idea of wearing the two colours together. Since it's still warm enough to wear sandals here, I'm going with the green on my toes and the neutral colours on my nails…

My fashion week nails will be a nude colour…

  3. Amy says:

Very nice, but I'm not going to pay that much for one bottle of polish! Is this another price increase? Chanel sure keeps going, even in a recession!

  4. Pumps and Gloss says:

I really like the Jade Rose. Very soft and neutral (pretty!!).

  5. All Lacquered Up says:

Misty – They're even better in person. Digital images don't do them justice.

Henna – You have to wear what you love and feel the best in. If that's nudes, rock them!

Amy – The special collections have been priced higher than the normal $23. Moscow and Gold Fiction went for $30/ea. With the way these collections sell out, they can charge it because people will pay.

  6. Indy Grrrl says:

    I must have the green.

  7. OutspokenWallflower says:

Oye! I didn't want to want it but now I definitely do! I love that it's in between DR1968 and MAC PP…and I love that it has shimmer! There goes my wallet….

  8. Z' says:

I'm torn… I love the jade green color, but I don't think Chanel polish has the greatest staying power. They used to make a quick dry top coat that really helped, but I haven't seen that in years. I would love to see a five day wear test. Oh I'll probably buy it anyway :-)

  9. Anonymous says:

since when is $23 the regular price? I've always bought mine for $18 at the Chanel counters.

oh well michelle is right, i'm dumb enough to pay whatever price they give because i'm a sucker for chanel and i NEED that green!!!

  10. Katie says:

Lovely!Do you have any idea if they will be available in Europe??

  11. Julia says:

OMG, I'm in love!! I have been anxiously waiting for swatches of these (and your swatches are always the best.) Jade is even more pretty than I imagined. I can't wait to add both of these colors to my collection!

  12. rijaH says:

Think i would prefer the mac one then :S Really disappointed about this :( oh well wouldnt matter anyway. They arent even coming to my country…

  13. PrincessS says:

WOW! I love them more than I had anticipated. I enjoy that dustyness to the Jade Rose, I was expecting more of the sheer pink blah variety.

Do you know if these are only available in the US (like the Robertsons were)?

  14. nailpolishtwit says:

Love the Jade. Will definitely purchase. It green and it's Chanel! What's not to love.

  15. Lina (The Beauty Look Book) says:

Thank you so much for posting this info! I am definitely getting the pink one!

  16. Anonymous says:

Looks exactly like MAC's PP to me!

  17. ggs says:

They are pretty, & your pictures are very good. They aren't must-buys for me though, at that price, not unique enough…

  18. Melia says:

Am dead….. I am really loving Jade, it is amazing. I can't wait for it to come out in Europe!

  19. gildedangel says:

    These are gorgeous!!!

  20. Sharon says:

I think I may be a green convert ! I have seen some green I thought was OK but this is pretty awesome !

  21. Deb says:

I need more of Chanel's overpriced polishes like I need a hole in the head, but Jade is sooo tempting, especially now that I now it has a little shimmer in it. I though it was a creme when I first saw the promo pics.

  22. m says:

beautiful, but $50 to have both. :O

  23. Nora says:

    Beautiful colors!
I know Jade would do nothing for me, so I can happily pass.

But wow, JADE ROSE – hello lover. :D
    I *love* the color.
I wonder how much the shimmer comes into play in person. I might just have to check it out. :)

  24. Laurel says:

I'm sorry, but I am so disappointed in the entire Peter Phillips era. From his dupe collections (I have the originals, such as El Dorado, etc.) to this. Surely Uncle Karl can find someone, anyone, better.

While the shades themselves may be pretty, they simply do not speak "Fall." And Fall is when color speaks. The warmest burgundies. The shimmering Tuscan golds. The sparkling plums. A ripe fig. A barely falling maple leaf. The balsam pines. The orange-red sunset. The snuggle of cashmere. A Ceringola olive. The perfectly ripe grape. Evens the blackest of blacks.

Call me old-fashioned, but these are the colors of fall. These are the colors that warm us during the chilly nights. These are the colors nature herself gave us during this time of year.

Perhaps if Chanel had presented this collection in Spring, it may have been more inspiring.

But, alas, another season, another Chanel disappointment.

I just noticed your Cleveland blogs, please be sure to check out evencleveland – Stephanie is fantastic, and the Room Service blog – Danielle is simply amazing!

  25. sasha says:

the associate at the chanel counter at bloomingdales said they'd have them by the end of september. did they lie to me???

  26. Mama Jen says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the jade color!!!

  27. Idee Fixe (punk.glam.queen@gmail.com) says:

If you're looking for a close really inexpensive dupe, try Barry M. Mint Green NP 304. No shimmer, but spot on colour. Or if you'd like a slightly darker version (I'm still deciding which I like best) try Spring Green NP 290. When you look on the website I actually think the photos are switched as the Spring Green looks exactly like what the Mint Green does in real life and vice versa. And at under 3 pounds even those of us in the US can afford it! I'll try to take photos over the weekend and put up on my blog so you can judge for yourself.
    Cheers!
    Suzanne
PS thank you so much, through you I discovered Seche Vite, LOVE!

  28. skgoh says:

Jade is gorgeous! I'm in love, but I don't think I could afford it. :(

  29. Bru says:

    Jade it's stunning

  30. virginiaisforluvrs says:

I'm trying to decide which one I need more. I can't imagine spending more than $50 on 2 polishes!! Are there any dupes for Jade Rose?

  31. Rosemary says:

I've had these since last week and love them! Jade is just the perfect shade or green imo.

  32. Anneli says:

Could you pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, preeeeeetty please do a comparison pic with Chanel Jade and Illamasqua Milf?

Pretty please with a cherry on top? :p

  33. Citrine says:

I love jade! (Jade rose is pretty as well but it seems a bit too "standard" and more dupe-able.)

  34. Jess says:

    Gorgeous swatches!
Jade Rose looks stunning… gotta check it out next time at the counter! <3

  35. Anonymous says:

these seem like spring colors to me.

very pretty but $50 plus tax, nonono.

    same on you chanel.

  36. H. says:

I can't imagine spending 25 buck on polish especially since I have been coveting for RBL polish for over a month (seems like a bargain at 18 compared) but I LOVE Jade Green. So I think I will just bite it and buy it. How is the formula?

  37. Anonymous says:

More comparisons with Opi Get in Lime and Barry M's Mint green?

  38. Tavia says:

I love the Chanel Jade and MAC Pepermint…they are such a warm tones. Usually green is not my favorite nail polish color, but in this case I'm willing to make an exception. They also look pretty good on short nails.

  39. Leila says:

hey, sorry to be completely obsessive but I'm trying to justify either my first splurge on either a chanel or a RBL. Could youpossibly tell me whether the amount of polish in a RBL or Chanel is more then your average nail polish bottle (an essie or OPI, say)? The RBL looks like it is more from the pics, I can't tell with the chanel.
    Thanks!

  40. EmLa82 says:

    This was nice nice nice!!!

  41. All Lacquered Up says:

Indy Grrrl – be sure to stalk the Chanel site cuz I have a feeling this one will go FAST!

OutspokenWallflower – I hear ya. I wasn't expecting that much wow factor after getting those too but they got me

Z – I never tried their top coat. I wonder why they DC'd it.

Anon – The price was $18 then went up to $19, $21 last fall and then $23 this spring (I believe). It doesn't make you dumb to pay it, it's just economics. They know they have the customers for it

Katie – I have no clue. Call your local Chanel counter or boutique to check.

Julia – Thank you for the kind words. That made my day

rijaH – It's probably better that you don't like them if they aren't coming to you anyway.

PrincessS – Unfortunately I'm only given US release info. Sorry :(

Nailpolishtwit – Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

    Lina – You're so welcome!

Anon – it may be your monitor. The colors are close but not exact

ggs – I hear ya. I'm sure your wallet is happy to hear that

Melia – is it coming to Europe? Do you know when?

GildedAngel – I agree. Do you plan to buy them?

Sharon – yay another one sucked over to the fun side of green. Soon you'll be wearing RBL Recycle :)

Deb – Rut roh, sounds like you're caving. Ha ha!

m – yeah, that's steep for two polishes. if your budget can handle one, get Jade.

Nora – The shimmer is subtle definitely more noticeable in the sun. Indoors way from the natural light, you can't see it that much

Laurel – Thanks for the blog recs. I'll be sure to check them out. I personally like unexpected colors for fall. I feel like the traditional colors have been done over and over again so I welcome Jade with open arms. Different strokes and all.

Sahsa – I don't know. I was told only at Chanel boutiques but that could be incorrect. I hope they make it to regular counters

  42. All Lacquered Up says:

Mama Jen – I'm right there with ya girlie

Idee Fixe – I compared jade to Barry M Mint Green and as I mentioned in my post, they aren't similar at all. I wish there was an inexpensive dupe but I haven't found it

skgosh – I understand. Maybe you could try mixing your own.

Bru – It is!! Even better in person

Viginiaisforluvrs – I'll have to look for a Jade Rose dupe. I'll let you know if I find one

Rosemary – since last week? How did you get them so early? Are you friends with someone at Chanel?

Anneli – Milf is so much lighter but I'll add it to my swatch list for you

Citrine – I hear that. Nothing against Jade Rose but I'm just not a pink girl in general.

Jess – I don't think it will be on counters. I was told only at Boutiques and online.

    Anon – They can't please everyone. That's $50 you're saving.

H – as I mentioned in my post, the polish applied flawlessly though the pigmentation is a little low. I needed 3 coats.

Anon – I'll add it to my list even though they're not even close

Tavia – glad you could make the exception. I think everyone should try at least one green polish

Leila – Chanel & RBL both contain .4oz or 12ml of polish. OPI is .5oz/15ml. Hope that helps!

EmLa82 – So glad you enjoyed it!

  43. Aleksis says:

I was going to get one until I saw the price…yikes! :x

  44. Faye says:

Thanks for posting these, Michelle! Personally I'm sort of with Laurel — the green one is just too Easter-ish for me. It's a shame because I do love Chanel. They should come out with a dark green with shimmer, like a deepened emerald — that would be fantastic for this time of year.

  45. Mc Huggs :) says:

    Hi Michelle:

Heard you had a fabulous weekend, which is always good to hear and planning a trip to NYC? Amazing.

Anyway, love the comparison with the lime greens: OPI Dam one Roberts Mint, Chanel's Jade and MAC Peppermint Patty. I already have OPI's Get in Lime and think it's amazing.

I am still pondering if it's worth the extra cash ($25 compared to OPI's $8-9) as I already have a larger collection of polishes, including yours, which I love! But the lime greens look gorgeous on your nails as they always do. Wonder what these would look like with OPI's Matte Nail Envy?

    Oh well, we will see.

    Have a glorious day Michelle.

    (((((Love Michelle)))))

    Mc Huggs :)

  46. Jenn says:

I picked it up during Fashion's Night Out and it's definitely fulfilling my mint green craving. Other shades were too sheer or pale for my liking. =)

  47. Anonymous says:

I'm so excited. I was able to buy Jade today on Chanel's site. Although I'm sure a lot of people will balk at the steep shipping, $7.95!!

  48. Sandy says:

Well, I just shot my budget. I placed my order before they actually had pictures on their website – but I already had all the information I needed. I am such a green lover and always have been and I'm loving this time in the sun. Glad to know someone else has my same passion for Green – thanks, Michelle – keep up the great work! I'm an oldie but goody but I still think I can pull this color off!

  49. Anonymous says:

How did you get it already? So jealous!

  50. Giulia says:

Hi, I was looking for the jade collection on chanel.com but there's no way to find them. I need 407…I live in Italy and I couldn't find a shop with this collection…I guess i'm too late…

Any advice? Where can I found it? I can spend 30 € on that color…I just want it sooo badly!
    :(

    Thank you, luv your blog!

  51. Toothfairy says:

I've looked all over the Netherlands for both of them, but apparently, they're not for sale here! gosh… I want them so bad!

  52. Anonymous says:

I don't think Jade will be available in Europe. I already own Barry M's Mint Green and waiting for Essie's mint, but would still love to see these two against Jade just to see what I am missing.

  53. Ashley says:

I want it sooo bad! I still cant get my hands on it though! is there some polish person I have to bribe?

    • All Lacquered Up says:

I wish I had a solution for you. That polish sold out so fast it’s not even funny. Unfortunately the ridiculously priced ebay auctions are the only place I’ve seen it.

  54. rockierockpen says:

Do you know if OPI has a color similar to Chanel Jade Rose? And, I’m loving the green JADE!!! <3

  55. Lynh says:

ur nails are so pretty. thx for sharing

  56. Suzume says:

I love this Jade nail polish – I don’t have it myself, it looks gorgeous! I tested a couple of alternatives – Barry M Mint Green and Nails Inc Spring Mews… both fab as well for a cheaper alternative…

  57. Lulu says:

Hello can you post a pic with chanel 507 Please I wana see it thanks and by the way this color is AMAZING!

  58. walkTHEwalk says:

I only really wanted it coes I thought it was pale like in the photos butt if it looks like that
my konad green is better I still wanna buy it butt it’s sold out boohoo

  59. Ashley says:

    ever try eBay?

  60. the mirror says:

am NOT digging the Jade Rose, though the mint green is beautiful and totally influential. though I’d go for Illamasqua’s MILF instead, the wear is better. or failing that something cheap:)
