ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – butter LONDON No More Waity, Katie

butter-london-no-more-waity-katie-nail-polish-bottle-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

The upcoming Royal Wedding is very polarizing. The Anglophiles are savoring every second of coverage that the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton are receiving. Then there are people like me, who could care less. For the record, I’m not a complainer who wants to stop hearing about it. I respect that people care so I just tune out. What really bugs me though are the companies hawking products with their likenesses, imitations of the engagement ring, etc.

And of course there just had to be a nail polish. butter LONDON’s Nonie Creme paid homage to the Royal Couple with the shade No More Waity, Katie, based on a nickname given to Kate by the press. Being that Nonie is British and her nail polish creations all have Brit-themed names, I’m giving her a pass on this one. Mainly because the color intrigued me. If the shade didn’t sound special, I NEVER would have bought it.

365 of Untrieds – Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors with OPI Navy Shatter

While at brunch on Sunday I had my first spotting of crackle polish in the wild.  Sure we’ve been talking about it for months but, since OPI Black Shatter launched last January, I have yet to see it on anyone in real life outside of the beauty/fashion blogosphere.

The waitress who seated us was wearing a black crackle polish over a metallic silver and I loved the look so much, I decided to replicate it.  I went searching for an untried silver foil and came up with Sonia Kashuk Smoke and Mirrors and with the OPI Blue Shatters set to launch next month, I thought OPI Navy Shatter would be the perfect complement.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Inglot Pastels 969 & 970 for Easter

Happy Easter!  Happy Sunday to those who don’t celebrate.  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  In spite of the gloomy weather we had a yummy Easter brunch with my parents which left me in a food coma for the rest of the day.  Though in spite of the day’s festivities I was up bright and early to make sure my digits donned their Easter finest.

After I posted my less-than-impressed review of one of Inglot’s O2M nail polishes, a reader suggested I give the pastels from their regular line a try.  I quickly placed an order and they ended up being the perfect ingredients for my Easter themed manicure. Take a look!

My friend, and fellow blogger, Izzy from Musings of a Muse introduced me to the Japanese influenced UK brand, Eyeko, a couple years ago. She told me that had adorable, cheap nail polish and free (at the time) shipping so I couldn’t resist ordering them all.

The problem… the “adorable” bottles were a pain to use.  They were essentially mini mason jars with thin metal screw-top caps with a brush attached.  Totally awkward to hold.  So I chalked them up as cute collector items but not functional.  Thankfully Eyeko saw fit to change the packaging and today I’m giving their Cosmic Polish a whirl.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Essie Pink Parka

essie-pink-parka-nail-polish-bottle-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Last week we talked about the J.Crew ad featuring Jenna Lyons painting her son’s toe nails bright pink.  It caused quite a stir with some conservatives out there and to show support of Jenna, someone of Facebook created an event asking members to paint their nails pink on April 22nd.

Like I said in my original post about this, most people I know were more curious about the nail polish color than what Jenna was doing to her son’s toes.  The color used in the ad is called “Peep Show,” a shade made exclusively for J.Crew which has now sold out (not surprising). Essie Pink Parka from the Fall 2009 collection is said to be a dupe for Peep Show so I polished my nails with it today as a sign of support. ***Edited to add – Apparently I was misinformed when told that Pink Parka was a dupe for Peep Show.  Cute As A Button is a better match.***
