Zoya PixieDust Texture Nail Polish Swatches & Review

The cynic in me assumed that all “textured nail polish” would be created equal. After seeing it happen with the mattes, crackles, foils, etc. it has become harder and harder not to pre-judge a trend or fad. Well, color me proven wrong. And all of you are to blame!

After reviewing the OPI Liquid Sand polishes, I kind of wrote off the whole textured nail look as different but kind of “meh” and then I started reading comments about how you prefer the Zoya PixieDust polishes. So, I decided to give this collection a whirl and I’m so glad I did. Pat yourself on the back, Fanatics!

Mariah Carey for OPI Spring 2013 Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review

I’m a girl of the Mariah Carey generation. I remember wearing OUT a tape (yes, I said tape) of “Vision of Love” as a teen. I was deeply in my grunge phase when Daydream released yet I was the first one on the dance floor when “Fantasy” came on. One of my best friends in high school had Mariah Carey hair and I was beyond jealous. Even more-so when she straightened it. I mean, WHY? Hell, I still envy Mariah’s curls decades later. So when OPI announced a collaboration with the iconic diva, my curiosity was piqued.

Mariah Carey for OPI Spring 2013 nail polish collection featuring Liquid Sand texture

What I wasn’t expecting was to see the emerging trend of texture polishes in Mariah Carey for OPI. I think of Mariah as a pretty classic nail girl which is why this collection is divided into two sections; The Studio Shades (ie traditional) and The Stage Shades (aka Liquid Sand). Let’s take a look…

An artist is somebody who produces things that people don’t need to have – Andy Warhol

The NARS for Andy Warhol Color Collection for Holiday 2012 is most definitely glamorous and, let’s face it, makeup is certainly something we don’t NEED yet Francois Nars is such an artist that his creations continue to sell-out worldwide.

Part of this huge collection of products and gift sets is a set of five new NARS nail polish shades. If, like me, you haven’t had the best history with NARS polishes I URGE you to keep reading. Trust me, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Would I steer you wrong?

Through The Looking Glass with Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian

One of the biggest events of the year in the CLE is, without a doubt, Jump Back Ball. It’s an annual charity event held at Playhouse Square to benefit the not-for-profit performing arts center and all their community education programs. Comprised of six theaters, Playhouse Square is one of the largest performing arts centers outside of NYC. Just one of the reasons I feel very lucky to live in this city.

Each year Jump Back Ball has a different theme and for its 21st birthday it was, “Through The Looking Glass.” Can you think of anything more fun than an Alice In Wonderland themed ball? Being that this was my first time attending, I was ecstatic. Of course that means finding the right dress/shoes/accessories and coming up with a hair, makeup and nail concept. Oh what fun!
