365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
I hope all my US readers are enjoying their Memorial Day weekend. I just want to give a quick shout-out to all the troops who serve every day to protect us. It is an amazing selfless act to serve your country and I thank you for that.
Back to nail polish, a reader recently asked me to feature Sparitual in the Untrieds so I chose A World of Compassion from last fall’s Imagine collection. Check it out! |

I’ve seen a few comments from readers saying they are disappointed that I won’t be reviewing new nail polish collections. I wanted to reassure you all that that isn’t the case. Just because I am launching this 365 project DOESN’T mean that I won’t be reviewing current collections.
The Zoya Wicked collection launched in Fall 2010 as a set of six sparkling shades with names matching the Dancing With The Stars pro dancers. While the collection was pretty, only two colors really stood out to me, Edyta and Julieanne, a smokey olive green and jewel toned purple. Being that my favorite colors are green and purple, in that order, it’s really no surprise that those polishes called out to me.
Alas, they’ve been sitting since Fall in my “to be worn” bin and haven’t received the love they deserve. Since I’m pretty season-less in my manicure choices I figured today is as good a day as any to give Zoya Julieanne a whirl. |

In case you haven’t heard, the Sephora Friends & Family Sale started yesterday. You get 20% off your online order with the code FF2010. If you’re still contemplating an order you might want to think about including one of my fave UK brands, the Sephora exclusive Illamasqua.
The Fall 2010 Art of Darkness collection is out and it includes two new nail colors, Viridian and Scarab. |

The hotly anticipated MAC Venomous Villains Collection is about to hit shelves and I have a feeling that it will be an even bigger hit than any of MAC’s previous collaborations simply because of the worldwide love for Disney. Yes, Barbie and Hello Kitty both have huge fan bases but the mouse trumps them all.
The collection, broken into four parts, is based on famous Disney animated villains; Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. Each mini collection reflects the look of that character with Disney providing the actual Pantone shades used in animation to help MAC design the color palettes.
Of course a collection like this must include nail color and three new shades have been included in the Maleficent set. Three foil, duo-chrome glitters named Bad Fairy, Formidable! and Mean & Green.

Last year when NARS released its Vintage Nail Polish Collection you could probably hear my heart breaking for nail fanatics around the world. Where was Zulu? What about Mash and Midnight Express? Was I the only one with a fondness for Ziggy and Platoon?
Well I’m happy to see that in the NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection 2010 they brought back three beloved shades and two I was previously unfamiliar with, King Kong and Full Metal Jacket.
The question is, how do the re-releases stack up against their former incarnations? |
