 Nine star Marion Cotillard stunned at the 67th Annual Golden Globes wearing a rich green Dior gown. Considering that a lot of the celebs played it safe on the red carpet, Marion drew my eye the second she stepped on the carpet.

 As a girl who loves her some green polish, I’m uber excited that the color is becoming so prominent this season. Yes, we’ve seen some great greens in the past few years but at long last it feels like the rest of the non-nail fanatic world is ready to embrace it.
I know it’s not right but it’s as though no nail trend is really a “trend” until we see at least one celeb rocking it. That’s why I’ve been furiously scanning red carpet events looking for a fun green nail and I FINALLY found it.  Did any of you say 90210 starlet Annalynne McCord? Who the Fug Girls lovingly refer to as Drunkface. Girl went over the top and THEN some. Between the fingerless lace glove, the banana yellow clutch and wifebeater/corset contraption on her midsection, the nails seem pretty tame. Is this hipster dominatrix chic?
I can’t give her props for the wardrobe choice but the nails get an A+ from me. Why she had to spoil it with that ring, I haven’t the faintest.

 Let’s play a little game, shall we? I was doing a little celeb nail watching and thought it’d be fun to see if you can guess the celeb by their nails. Of course this is totally on the honor system so play fair fanatics!
This week I spotted singers, reality stars, etc. rocking everything from hot pink and orange to purple and mint green. There were even a couple of major talon sightings. See if you can pair the celebrity with the nail bubbles (left). This week we’re watching (in no particular order):
Rihanna, Erin Lucas, Khloe Kardashian, Adrienne Bailon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, LeToya Luckett, Michelle Trachtenberg and Victoria Hesketh (aka Little Boots).

English singer Victoria Hesketh (stage name Little Boots) sported a fun, bright purple that reminds me of Pasadena Purple, the Nubar shade Ginnifer Goodwin wore in He’s Just Not That Into You.
We know that The City’s Erin Lucas loves bright polish after seeing her in Essie Funky Limelight. Could she be wearing Essie Mini Shorts from last summer’s neon collection?
Sophie Ellis-Bextor caught my eye when I spotted her minty tips. Perhaps the Brit singer has Barry M Mint Green on her nails.
Rihanna, you know I adore you girl and all your funky nail ways BUT this length with such pointy tips, really?? I can’t say I’m loving it.
I read this fun post on Bella Sugar about Michelle Trachtenberg‘s nail fanaticism. She changes her nail color with her Gossip Girl alter ego, Georgina, in mind. She revealed to a Bella Sugar staffer that she’s currently wearing OPI That’s Hot! Pink.
R&B singer LeToya Luckett has one flashy moon manicure. I can’t help but wonder if she’s wearing these moon manicure Minx or if it’s just a bronzey metallic polish.
Finally we have a matched set of brights when my fave Kardashian sister, Khloe Kardashian, met up with Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon. One rocking the hot pink the other in vivid orange. Their nails certainly pop in contrast with their black clothes.

 I was still enjoying my weekend away when the BET Awards aired but now that I’m catching up on all that I missed, I couldn’t resist a little celeb nail watchin’.
I’m hoping to catch a re-airing of the show or video clips online of the Michael Jackson tributes but for now let’s focus on the tips. The biggest nail trend of the night… Minx! As I said when I reviewed Minx last December, they’re great for special occasions and more and more celebrities seem to be embracing them for red carpet events.

Monica, Letoya Luckett, Keri Hilson and Beyonce were all spotted with Silver Lightening nails and seeing Keri Hilson’s pic with her BET Award makes me wonder if it was intended to match the trophy, should they win.

As if the partially shaved head wasn’t enough,
Cassie has made her transformation to red carpet train wreck complete with this macrame nonsense. She topped it off with tips that are too long and too square for such a stark white. Such a pretty girl, such a shame.
Adrienne Bailon I give you credit for working the bright orange. I love an orange too. But I wish your dress had been a few shades darker or nude.

 It’s UpFronts week in NYC, one of my favorite times of the TV season. It’s when the networks reveal their fall lineups and I love hearing about all the new shows and I cross my fingers for ones I hope survive (Privileged!).
Usually we have to wait until September to see any of the much hyped new shows but Fox has put a twist on that with tonight’s post-Idol premiere of Glee. My inner band/drama/musical theater geek hasn’t been this hyped over a show in I don’t know how long. I’m a huge Nip/Tuck fan so tell me Ryan Murphy is involved and I’m ON BOARD. Plus I’ve been dying for Jane Lynch to finally have a recurring role on one of the Big 4 networks. The woman is comedy personified. Did anyone else watch Lovespring International on Lifetime? Well, how bout Best In Show? Party Down on Starz? I’m telling you, the woman is HIGH-larious!

 CHARLIE!!! I can’t look at Jayma Mays and not think Charlie. She was Charlie on both Heroes and Ugly Betty so I don’t know WHAT Ryan Murphy was thinking by naming her character Emma. Has he not paid attention? Her name is Charlie! Regardless, I’m loving the blue/gray ensemble and that she’s a redhead who isn’t afraid to wear red tips. Rock it Charlie! |
 Whether she’s calling Christian “asshole” on Nip/Tuck or setting things on fire on Heroes or walking the halls of Boston Public in re-run land, wherever Jessalyn Gilsig goes, I will follow. I get excited whenever she pops on screen even if it’s just a few eps of my beloved Friday Night Lights.
As I recently told Andrea from Glamour for her weekly beauty tips newsletter, pairing bright nails with neutral outfits, like white, cream or tan is so fresh this summer. It’s a much cheaper accessory than a pair of hot pink shoes or a bright green clutch that you might not use once fall rolls around. |
 White nails seem to be EVERYWHERE lately. More so than hot pink or teal or any other bright. Let’s face it, white goes with everything. It can be mod, chic or edgy depending on how you accessorize it.
