When I put together my list of current Favorite Top Coats, many of you requested to hear about the Best Base Coats in my arsenal. I actually have more top coats than base coats and that’s because I tend to stick with my tried and true faves. I test new things, of course, but, for the most part, these have become my staples.

To make sure I have all your bases covered (pun totally intended), I am sharing my favorites for long-lasting wear, ridge filling, treatment and specialty polishes.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Nfu Oh 570 & 52

nfu-oh-570-52-nail-polish-bottles-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Yesterday a reader posted on my Facebook wall raving about how amazing the famed holo Nfu Oh 61 is and blaming me for finally caving on a bottle. A blame I happily accept.

Naturally that had me revisiting my Nfu Oh stash which contains at least 5 untried colors. What started out as a simple creme manicure with Nfu Oh 570 ended up becoming a full on sparkle-gasm involving Nfu Oh 52. Keep reading to find out why.

ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge SS11 – Day 7

nyfw-notd-challenge-nfu-oh-528-55 Initially there wasn’t going to be a Day 7 in my NYFW NOTD Challenge.  Even though I was in NYC for seven days I purposely didn’t schedule any shows or meetings for the last day so I could wander the city.  Every time I go to NYC for blog business I pack my schedule so full I never have time to just explore and I made sure to leave time for that on this trip.

Then I got a call from my pal, Celebrity Manicurist Elle, on Day 6 inviting me to come visit her on a photo shoot.  You don’t have to ask me twice.  Naturally I was curious to check out her kit and see what she brings to a shoot.  While I was there, Elle offered to give me a manicure and I couldn’t pass that up.  When she started dragging out her Nfu Ohs and playing with different layering combos I knew I was in for something fun.  Check it!

Putting Nfu Oh to the Test – A NOTD with 568 & 56

nfu-oh-56-568 What a weekend! I think I’m still recovering from a wine induced coma. The Vintage Ohio wine festival took place over the weekend and The BF and I hopped in a van with the neighbors to take part in an all day sampling of Ohio wines.

We’ve been going to this festival for the past 11 years and even though we’re there for the wine I still come home every year with a bag of kettle corn the size of a small child.  Popcorn is my one true food vice and kettle corn is my Achilles heel.

Anyway, I thought since I would be outside in the sun all day on Saturday, it was an excellent excuse for Nfu Oh Flakies!!  I started a wear test using #568 (pictured left) & #56 (pictured right) last Monday but I anticipated having to take it off by Saturday.  To my surprise it still looked so fantastic I only had to paint my swatching hand to match.  Check it!

Best Holo Ever – Nfu Oh 61 Can Take On Minx Hologram Nails

nfu-oh-61-aqua-base-nail-polish-bottles You guys, I’ve reached holographic nail nirvana thanks to Nfu Oh!

As you may remember I received my first Nfu Oh haul a few weeks back and I’ve been dying to wear the holo, #61, but had to wait until the Aqua Base came back in stock.  Well my second order arrived on Thursday so naturally my weekend manicure choice was Nuf Oh 61!

I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the polish’s bland appearance in the bottle but on the nail, this baby can give Hologram Minx a run for its money.   Ever since Beyonce rocked golden holographic Minx at the Grammy Awards fanatics have been trying to replicate the look.  Well, consider #61 the silver version of those nails at a fraction of the cost.
