Celebrity Nail Watch – CMAs

Just to clarify, I am NOT a country music fan (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but that damn Carrie Underwood song, Before He Cheats, does get stuck in my head. Regardless, I couldn’t help but check out the Country Music Awards arrivals to see what the gals were wearing on their nails. I’ll admit that I had a little prejudice going in, expecting to see french manicures and pale nails everywhere but much to my surprise, it was vampy night at the CMAs.

Don’t quote me on this but it’s looks
like Jewel is sporting a dark purple creme.

Martina McBride in classic black and white with smokey sexy eyes

Maybe it’s just me but I think Jessica Harp has too much black and sparkle going on

I’m going out on a wire and saying that Sara Buxton is wearing a gunmetal gray shimmer

I’m not even going to ask why Kate Walsh was
there. I’m just going to envy her gorgeousness and bronzed tips

Heidi Newfield sported a big fall color, red. It works with her look even
though her outie belly button freaks me out!

Rissi Palmer’s black nails are proof that either the fashion mags are wrong and
black polish is still in or that no one has told Nashville yet.

And was it just me or did the rest of the red carpet look like the American Idol rejects show (Carrie Underwood excluded)? Phil Stacey, Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler… What, no Sanjaya?? Certainly the hospitable people of the south could throw him some love.

Q&A

Time put on your thinking caps and help another reader. K. is looking for a sheer nude polish (nude not peach or pink) and a sheer white polish (not ivory). If you’re a long time reader you know I’m not a sheer girl; I like my nails bold and crazy. So I’m leaving K. in your capable hands. Let’s hear some suggestions. Nothing streaky or hard to find please.

And if you have a question or need advice, email me at alllacqueredup@yahoo.com. If I can’t help, I’ll turn your quandary over to the masses.

Coming Soon – Chanel Blue Satin

There’s been much buzz about the next great Chanel polish, Blue Satin, and Style Today has an exclusive first look. Check out their site for additional bottle pics and swatches.

I don’t have an official release date yet but I’ve heard late December or January. I’m sure if you call your local Chanel counter a sales associate can put you on a wait list. I have a feeling this one will sell out fast.

OPI Blue Comparisons

Since navy is such a big color this fall and with OPI putting out three great blues this year, I thought you all might appreciate a little side by side comparison. While I love these dark colors, capturing their true beauty on screen is REALLY difficult but I did my best.

To me, the major differences are:
Russian Navy – has a blue green base, like Glacier Bay Blues, subtle shimmer on the nail and is the closest to an actual navy shade
Who Are You Wearing? – has more purple in it’s base, multi-colored blue and red shimmer, looks blue/purple depending on the light and has an overall darker hue
OPI Ink – is the most burple (bluish purple), has the most sparkle and glitz due to the silvery micro-glitter, is the least “blackish-blue”

Which one do you prefer? Or did you just give in and buy all three?

Total Beauty – Beauty Advice Just Got A Makeover

Total Beauty is a new website that will be launching soon and All Lacquered Up is proud to to be a part of their “Blogs We ♥” blogging community.

As readers of All Lacquered Up you are invited to preview the site before it’s official debut.

Go to http://www.totalbeauty.com/debut, click on the “Sign Me Up To Win!” button and create an account. Once registered, not only do you get early access to the site but you also have the chance to win prizes by writing just 3 product reviews.

“We’re giving away over 100 great prizes. You could win a brand new 2008 Pontiac Solstice, one of three great four day, three night all-inclusive spa vacations for you and a friend, and more. 100 runner-ups will win a $50 gift certificate to Dermstore.com” “Every three reviews submitted give you another chance to win! The more products you review the more chances you have to win.”

So you’re wondering… Is this just another beauty site? What’s so special about it? Am I right? Total Beauty is not just a product review site. It has a lot of unique features. Tips, editor and user unbiased reviews, a comprehensive database of products with descriptions, video tutorials and so much more. I just watched the 5 Updos in 5 Minutes video tutorial and WOW is it cool. I’m going to try the half up/half down look at my next evening event.

One function that I love is called The Beauty Scout. After completing a series of detailed questions about your preferences in hair, eye, foundation, lip and skin care products, your beauty scout will recommend products based on your specific needs. And unlike a lot of generic product finders, you can tell the Beauty Scout what ingredients you want to avoid. How cool is that? As a sulfate-free shampoo user that is a major bonus.

Ok so when you’re done playing and testing and scoping out the site, you all have to do me a favor. Click on the “Blogs We ♥” tab and click on the link back to All Lacquered Up. The link love I receive through Total Beauty’s site will help me climb the “Top 10 Blogs” ladder. You want your favorite nail fanatic to be popular, don’t you?

When you come back here, let me know what you think of Total Beauty. And cut them a little slack as the site is still in beta and all the kinks aren’t worked out quite yet.
