It looks like sheers and soft girlie shades are on their way this spring. And as much as I love my bold and vampy shades I will try my best to embrace the coming trend. You’ll rarely find me sporting a sheer but ever since I discovered my holy grail sheer last spring, Zoya Bailey, I’m definitely more open-minded towards them.

Enjoy the nail color of the moment… Blissful.

The beauty of Spring radiates from Zoya’s latest collection, Blissful. 6 wearable shades selected to enhance natural beauties of every age and skin tone.

Laurie (sheer pink cream), Lulu (sheer peach cream) and Miley (sheer lilac cream)

Felicity (sparkling golden rose), Penelope (apricot rose cream) and Zanna (mauve rose cream)

As always, Blissful features Zoya’s best-selling, professional natural nail lacquer formula. Zoya healthy nail colors are free of harmful industrial chemicals like toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) that are known to cause cancer and birth defects.

Find Zoya’s Blissful collection along with over 200 other ultra high-fashion Zoya shades and the exclusive Zoya Color-Lock system (for guaranteed long-lasting color) at fine salons and spas across the country, or online at www.zoya.com.

Introducing Plexi Pop – CND Color Collection Spring/Summer 2008

Lip Gloss for the Nails

Give fingers and toes a dose of radiant energy! CND’s new Plexi Pop Collection for Spring/Summer 2008 is inspired by colorful Lucite designs from modernist 60’s interiors. Bold in the bottle translates to subtle, optically-interesting color on the nail. The collection is an energetic palette – couture in spirit and NOW in look.

Rising temperatures call for translucent nail tints in a range of moods from understated soft nudes that are like lip gloss for the nails to vibrant flashes of carefree color. The length and look this season is past the tip of the finger in a soft and tapered shape. The collection includes two healthy pink clears, three opalescent bright sheers in hot pink, coral and turquoise, and a mod crisp white cream.

Retro White – bright white opaque crème
Clearly Pink – translucent light pink sheer
Nail Gloss– translucent medium pink sheer

Plexi Pink – vibrant pink opalescent sheer
Translucent Tangerine – coral shimmer sheer
Turquoise Tint – aqua opalescent sheer

These shades debuted on runways during Spring 2008 Fashion Week in New York and London .
Clearly Pink glowed at Badgley Mischka, Bruce, Chaiken, Luca Luca, Peter Som, Philosophy, Nili Lotan, G-Star, Tory Burch
Nail Gloss was worn by models at BCBG, Behnaz Sarafpour, Jasper Conran, COS, Carmen Marc Valvo, Nary Manivong, PHI, DKNY, Rachel Roy, Reyes, Rosa Cha, TSE and Yigal Azro
Translucent Tangerine premiered at Douglas Hannant
Turquoise Tint glimmered at Ashish N Soni and Chris Han
Retro White was part of the revolutionized black and white French manicure at L.A.M.B. and Jayson Brunsdon

The Plexi Pop Collection will be in salons, spas and professional beauty stores as of March 2008. Each enamel retails for $6.00 US/$9.40 Canada .

The Next Big Thing – Chanel Blue Satin

Get ready for the next big polish craze. Chanel Blue Satin is going to fly off the shelves, I guarantee it.

Designed by Directors of Makeup Creation Dominique Montcourtois and Heidi Morawetz, Chanel’s Spring 2008 Makeup Collection is inspired by the clean, airy colours of fresh starts and new horizons: a springtime spectrum of blues, soft pinks, and opalescent whites. From the innocence of palest robin’s egg to the drama of deep indigo, blues make a perfect companion to a flawless complexion.

The Nail Colour lineup includes Blue Satin, Rose Satin, White Satin and Azur.

A shimmering inky blue, Blue Satin, is a highly pigmented lacquer that flows evenly on the nail. I know Chanel is big on the whole “Satin” naming thing but if it were up to me, I’d name this one Blue Velvet because that’s what it reminds me of in the bottle, a snuggly blue velveteen blanket. On the nail this blackened navy is very dark and only shows it’s true shimmering brilliance when well lit but that’s true of most dark polishes. And in a true moment of serendipity I looked out my window to see sun, actual sun, so I went a little overboard on the swatch pics for you.Now you know that I am the last person to tell you to run out and plunk down more than $10 on a polish but I can honestly say that, for me, this one is worth it. But please don’t buy it just to have it. If you’re not a lover of blue polishes, this one won’t magically change that. And for all you bargain shoppers, I’m going to work up some comparisons.

The official Chanel release is scheduled for January 2008 but I would get on a waiting list now. As of today you can pre-order Blue Satin on the Neiman Marcus website with an anticipated ship date of December 14th.

So who’s giving in to this one? Who’s abstaining? Will anyone be checking out the other shades?

After a reading about how few lucky MUA nail boarders stumbled across some never before seen China Glaze polishes at a local beauty supply, the board went into a frenzy. With holographic polishes given techno savvy names like DV8, IDK, QT and LOL and brights named Flying Dragon, Sacred Heart and Blue Sparrow how could they not. Of course, I had to investigate further.

Hide your wallets now ladies because China Glaze is hitting us with three, THREE, new color collections this spring. Something for the chat-addicted sparkle fanatics, the eco-conscious lacquer lover and the bold artists in all of us.
