A new look for All Lacquered Up
Welcome to the all new All Lacquered Up. This site refresh has been a long time coming and so necessary. I didn’t want to make drastic changes, just some simple tweaks to make your experience better.
So what’s new?
First, my poor Gallery hadn’t been updated in eons due to technical issues but it’s FINALLY working again. Praise Jeebus! I’m in the process of adding my backlog of photos but have uploaded over 200 new images already. Images are arranged by color so you can see every blue nail polish I’ve ever photographed, in one place!
Second, I’ve made changes to the Navigation menu to help you find certain features or information easier. I’ve also made it easier to find my Social Media channels so we can connect on other platforms.
The biggest and most important change is something you’ll only notice if you view ALU on mobile or tablet devices. I don’t know about you but I’m glued to my phone and do a lot of my blog reading that way. Having a site that wasn’t mobile friendly was simply unacceptable to me. Now, no matter where you view ALU, the site will conform to your device.
Search – If you are looking for posts in a certain category, from a certain date or just want to search for a specific term, all of that is in one simple space on the right sidebar.
Finally, if you read something here that you like, I’ve made it easy for you to share it with your friends.
I really hope you like the new and improved All Lacquered Up and PLEASE report any technical issues you may experience so I can get them fixed right away. MWAH!!

The China Glaze App – Now for Android!
Over the past couple years, I’ve been pitched numerous times about new mobile apps for nail polish fanatics and they have always been solely for iPhone/iPad users. Since I don’t recommend anything I can’t personally test myself, I haven’t posted about them, until now.
China Glaze launched their China Glaze App last spring and now us #TeamAndroid peeps can get in on the action.

What’s unique about this free app is the “Match A Color” functionality. You simply take a picture of an object, click on a spot you want to color match, and get a list of China Glaze nail polish suggestions.
I took a picture of the Bobbi Brown Navy nail polish I posted earlier today and Man Hunt and First Mate are great alternatives, though not dupes. Lighting definitely alters the suggestions you get.

The app also features the latest collection releases, videos and a “Try It On” feature that is, honestly, not that accurate as all the shades look like cremes. You can also “favorite” shades and share your finds on social media.
The China Glaze App is available now for free in the Google Play store and iTunes.

Wake Up Pretty with All Lacquered Up at Nordstrom’s Pretty Party
So the past few of days have been a bit nerve-wracking. I spilled water on my laptop and have been in full freak-out mode, hoping it would turn on. Obviously it did, thanks to advice from the Twitterverse, and I have some fun news to share.
My local Nordstrom at Beachwood Place, is hosting a Pretty Party next weekend and they’ve asked me to be a part of their “Wake Up Pretty” trend event next Saturday, October 19th! I’ll be presenting, along with speakers covering makeup and skin care, talking about nail color trends for Fall and Holiday 2013. So exciting!
If you’re free next Saturday and would like to attend, there are 40 tickets left (out of 200). The event begins at 8:30 am (early, I know!) and your $20 ticket is redeemable for $20 worth of product PLUS you get an iPad case, a signature tote bag filled with a bundle of cosmetics and light refreshments will be served. If that’s not a reason to get up early on a Saturday, I don’t know what is.
After the event, manicurists will be on hand to apply any nail color purchases you make.
