|Welcome to CND Monday, a new feature here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.
Nude hued nails were all over the Fashion Week runways for spring. “Mannequin Hands” was in full effect. When I say Mannequin Hands I refer that elongated, neutral, extension-of-the-fingers look you get by painting a flesh toned or slightly darker polish on your nails.
I decided to try the look out with one of the CND Colours that I kept seeing backstage, Desert Suede, and to transform it I added a layer of Gold Pearl Effect over top. Take a peek after the jump!
If you missed my detailed review of the new CND Formula, Bottle and Brush check out CND Colour, Effects and Henna? for a recap.
Desert Suede is similar to the discontinued Cocoa from the old CND line only Desert Suede is warmer with less pink in its base. The polish applied perfectly smooth giving an opaque, glossy finish in only two coats. It’s a very clean look but just WAIT till you check out what adding an Effect can do.
By layering a coat of Gold Pearl Effect over top, Desert Suede went from classic to cool and unusual. Gold Pearl lifts the hue and adds dimension. In fact it becomes a bit duo-chromey in that you see the gold but also this cool green flash at certain angles. It reminds me a LOT of my bottle of Make A Wish that I still have hoarded away in my stash. The main difference being that this combo is a bit deeper and much more pigmented. I remember painting 3-4 coats the last time I wore Make A Wish.
You can find CND Colour & Effects at salons nationwide and online at our fave e-tailers (see sidebar). If you’re looking to stock up on some of your old CND faves GoIndulge.com is clearancing out a lot of their stock for only $2/ea!!
So what do you think of this look? I know it’s a little light for Fall but I’m digging it. Anyone remember Make A Wish? Share your thoughts in the comments!
