If there’s one thing I’ve come to expect from Essie’s Winter collections, it’s warm, cozy shades. Founder Essie Weingarten has a relationship with fabric that really comes through in her collections and at a time when all I want to do is bury under a blanket next to a roaring fire, she delivers that feeling in nail color.

For her Winter 2013 nail polish collection she is pitting rich, dark tones against power pastels, bringing a lightness to what could have been a really heavy palette.

This Fall, Zoya is doing their part in removing the negative connotation I associate with satin. Maybe it’s just me but, outside of the benefits of sleeping on a satin pillowcase (it helps maintain a blowout), I always think of satin as being cheesy, like an 80s prom dress. Let’s face it, satin is a silk wannabe.

However, one look at the Zoya Satins collection for Fall 2013 and you know this is no shabby knock-off. It’s pure, luxurious color!

The Orly Surreal nail polish collection is on a different tack than most of the Fall 2013 color collections I’ve seen. They’re going for something more eclectic and unconventional in terms of fall color.

They say parents shouldn’t pick favorites among their children. And when it comes to my FingerPaints “A Pair Affair” nail polish collection for Sally Beauty, the colors are like my children. Hell, they took much longer than nine months to birth. Regardless, I can’t help but be biased towards Our Tips Are Tealed. It’s my FAVORITE!!

Shh, don’t tell the other kids I said that. Oh right, they can’t hear me! Anyway, Our Tips Are Tealed is the total star of this nail polish show and, as proud as I am of all the shades in the collection, it has the strongest hold on my heart.

Its more grounded counterpart, Bare No Secrets, is chic and understated but with personality. See how they play off each other in a twist on the traditional French Manicure.

NEW Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Shades – Swatches & Review

I’m not gonna lie, when the first set of Sally Hansen Sugar Coat textured nail polishes released, I wasn’t that jazzed. The color palette was very basic; white, black, red, yellow, pink, etc. With the exception of a green (Sour Apple) and blue (Razzle-berry), they didn’t speak to me.

However, Sally Hansen has released a second set of Sugar Coat shades that include some more “me” colors, including some glitter textures.

If you know me at all, you know that blue, purple and teal are so in my wheelhouse and that the sparkly texture polishes are my jam, so I had a lot of fun playing with these new colors. In fact, I came up with a layering combination so gorgeous that I dare even the texture haters to dismiss it.
