ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Chanel Peridot from the Fall 2011 Collection

Even though Chanel Graphite is the Fall Chanel color that caused me to swoon, it’s Chanel Peridot that is getting all the buzz. I even saw Bobbie Thomas mention it on her Today Show “Minute Buzz” segment along with LCN Magnetic Polish (yay!).

Now you know I’m all about the greens but I haven’t exactly been champing at the bit to wear Peridot. Yellow greens are just not my thing. They remind me of cat’s eyes which, as much as I love my furballs, are a creepy color.

I did a nail wheel swatch of Peridot when it arrived and felt pretty “meh” but I’m finally taking the plunge since so many of you have asked about it.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – BK Cracking Jade Green Crackle Nail Polish

bk cracking jade green crackle nail polish ALUs 365 of Untrieds BK Cracking Jade Green Crackle Nail Polish365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

I’m sure you are tired of me saying, over and over again, that I’m not a big fan of crackle manicures. One of the main reasons I don’t like it is the way the new generation shatters. I loved the old school CoverGirl Crackle Lacquer with its subtle multi-directional veining. Not the thick, chunky shards that we’re currently seeing.

Now last summer when I first wrote about crackle nail polish, I mentioned an etailer that sold another type of crackle called BK Cracking. I ordered a bunch but when I received them, the polish flaked off so I thought they were duds and threw them to the wayside.

THEN, the clouds parted, birds sang and I saw the light thanks to Styrch from Pretty In Dayton. She posted about a crackle polish called Kelier and thanks to her application tips I was able to get the BK Cracking to work. Check it out!

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – LCN Magnetic Nail Polish

lcn magnetic nail polish ALUs 365 of Untrieds LCN Magnetic Nail Polish365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Once upon a time, Lancôme released Le Magnetique, a magnetic nail polish, and people even outside the nail fanatic realm were fascinated. Tiny metallic particles in the polish formed a star sapphire pattern on the surface when a special magnet was placed in front of it. What a crazy and unique concept, no?

Of course, Le Magnetique was a US limited edition which upset international fanatics, rightfully so. Then L’Oreal (Lancôme’s parent company) decided to release a special European version of Le Magnetique under the L’Oreal brand in a wider range of colors which upset the US fanatics, rightfully so.

That brings us to today. We haven’t heard a peep about magnetic nail polishes in the US since the Le Magnetique craze and it was almost as though we forget they ever existed. But now, thanks to LCN, we have a whole new set of magnetics to play with and a new design pattern.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Essie Da Bush from the Resort 2011 Collection

Essie Da Bush was released in late spring/early summer as part of the Essie Resort 2011 collection. Shortly after its launch I kept hearing raves for the color that left me staring at my bottle, thinking, “What the eff??” What’s with all the hype over this bland looking, neutral grey/green/cream concoction.

I’m all for odd colors but in the bottle, Da Bush, did nothing fore me. Even the name turned me off. So all this time it’s sat in one of my untrieds bin, taunting me. I could almost hear it saying, “Just give in. You know you’re going to love me.” Well, we’ll just see about that!

You guys! I am simply flabbergasted and overwhelmed by all your lovely comments, emails and tweets. The love and thoughtfulness of the blogosphere is truly amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! As a quick update, my daddy is home and feeling much much better and the outlook on his health is positive. If it taught me anything it’s to take the best possible care of yourself. It’s something I’ve been failing to do and why I have made some changes myself, including joining Weight Watchers. So if you’re looking for a WW buddy, I’m here!

Now let’s talk polish, shall we? If you remember my Revlon Vixen review, you’ll recall that I straight up HATED the formula. It was a bubble filled disaster. Well based on a comment suggesting that I give the Revlon Top Speed line a try I decided that instead of completely writing off the brand I would give it one last go with Revlon Emerald. Let’s see how it fared.
