Mannequin Hands with L’oreal Sand Castle

Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade.  The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

Jess31570 is sharing her “Mannequin Hands” today using L’oreal Sand Castle. To really make the look she added Essie Matte About You top coat.  Based on the pics, it’s a perfect match for her skin tone which she describes as “tan”.

Anyone find a match in Jess?  How does this L’oreal shade sit with you?  I haven’t really used their new formula that much, are there any fans in the house?

Don’t forget, you have until January 15th to share your Mannequin Hands with the group. CLICK HERE for more details.

This one is the one that I really feel captures the idea of this theme. It even has that hard plastic feel to it.

  2. KittytoKaren says:

Those are some serious mannequin hands! Way to go Jess!

  3. stubby says:

These are by far the most realistic mannequin hands so far. Good job! I think the matte top coat really helped with the effect.

I totally did my nails with this nail polish a few days ago! Sand Castle is too pink for my skin tone :(. And, I didn’t use a Matte top coat.

yes, very good job! i wish i knew your foundation color to see how well the color would match to my skin tone tho :(

      • Jess says:

ah, sorry, never had the MAC assessment done. the best i can say is that i am Hispanic, not very brown or very pale, right in the middle, with a goldeney-olive-reddish cast.

imo, she did the best out of everyone who submitted pictures. this isn’t a look i’d usually go for, but she’s got me completely sold.

Those really are ‘mannequin hands’! They are perfect.
But they kinda skeeve me out with the matte topcoat.
I heard long ago (30 years!) that this is what funeral directors did to cover the deceased person’s blue toned nail beds. Skin tone matte polish. (actually, that’s where I first heard of matte polish!) So, awesome, but a tiny bit creepy….

Her fingers look SOOOOO long. She wins at mannequin hands!
    Awesome!

this is my favourite so far, purely because it’s really mannequin-esque. I absolutely cannot find my match, I have to wear NC15 in mineralize liquid because it runs a shade paler than all other mac foundations, but it’s STILL TOO DARK and shows on my skin! the closest polished I’ve found have been super pale pinks from various brands, but they’re always sheers, and because I have such stained nails I need to use a eidiculous amount of coats so it chips super fast, and they never look the same as my skin because they aren’t designed to.
I’m really hoping someone super pale has found their match and will join in the feature.
also I love this blog, michelle
