Orly Spring 2016 Melrose Collection Swatches and Review

Orly Spring 2016 "Melrose" collection

Orly Spring 2016 “Melrose” collection

During a recent #NailGlossip we discussed which upcoming collections we are excited for in 2016, and someone mentioned Orly Melrose and I was all, “O RLY?” A quick search for promo images had me looking forward to it as well. I mean, they had me at holo… glitter. What surprised me is that the colors are even more bold and saturated than the bottle shade implies. Check it!

OPI Hello Kitty nail polish collection

OPI Hello Kitty nail polish collection

When I first heard about the OPI Hello Kitty collection last summer I sighed and thought, “Here come ALL THE PINKS!” If you know me, and by now I assume most of you do, you know pink is not my taste. That being said, the Hello Kitty universe is very much a celebration of all things adorable in pink and primary hues. In that sense, OPI embodied the Sanrio sweetheart’s spirit yet they managed to create some unique pinks that melted this pink-hater’s heart.

Rouge Louboutin and Chanel Lame Rouge Noir

Rouge Louboutin and Chanel Lame Rouge Noir

Who else was hating life this morning? After a nice long holiday break, I didn’t want to get up AT ALL this morning. I totally slept through my alarm. My body just wasn’t having it. I had such a lovely time at home with the boyfriend, who also took the last two weeks off. We spent Christmas with my parents, baked cookies, hosted a NYE party, did some work around the house, and binge-watched Mozart in the Jungle, Man in the High Castle, Red Oaks, Master of None, and caught up on AHS: Hotel (it’s FINALLY getting good).

My nails were pretty bare the last week since we cleaned and de-cluttered the house (I’m reading the KonMari method book) and ended up breaking/chipping a few nails. I didn’t even have polish on for NYE! If I did, it would have been today’s manicure, one of my Christmas gifts from the boyfriend and a treat to myself. He remembered me saying how I could never justify the INSANE price of Rouge Louboutin, even though I wanted it as a collectible, so I was happily surprised when it showed up under the tree.

Based on the “sold out” signs I’m seeing on Amazon.com, Beauty.com and essie.com, the Retro Revival version of essie Starry Starry Night has caused quite a craze. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to score a pre-sale bottle, don’t fret. The collection isn’t on shelves yet, so there’s still a chance to snag one. Who knows, maybe it will pop up at Nordstrom.com. In the meantime, for those of you who want to see how the new version compares to the original, I’ve got you covered!

***Sound the alarm!*** Starry Starry Night is now available on ULTA.com.

Last-Minute Beauty Gifts

Last-Minute Beauty Gifts

I’m a notorious last-minute shopper. I’ve been known to be out shopping while the boyfriend is at my parent’s house cooking Christmas Eve dinner. Procrastination holiday shopping is in my DNA. Considering the number of people I see scrambling through stores this week, I know I’m not alone.

Department stores are my one-stop salvation, especially JCPenneys with in-store Sephoras. We have a few in the Cleveland area and I stopped by the North Olmsted store after seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens (so amazing!) to grab a few gifts for my beauty-loving friends, and a treat for myself, of course! With styles so bright and gifts so right, JCPenney is where giving begins this holiday season.
