Nicole by OPI Previews the Justin Bieber Collection

Okay so I totally scoffed at the fact that Nicole by OPI is collaborating with Justin Bieber.  It’s a great marketing strategy and the fact that it supports a charity makes it a bit more tolerable but I am FAR from a tween so it just feels odd to be writing about.  That being said, I must admit that after watching the preview video posted on the Nicole by OPI YouTube account, I am kind of curious about Me + Blue and  One Less Lonely Glitter.

I get that if the color is good, the person attached to it shouldn’t matter but I’m so not the target demo. I feel like one of those middle aged women who swoon over Edward from Twilight, blech!

After seeing the colors modeled on a nail, what are your thoughts on the collection?

i feel like im the only 14 year old in the world who dosnt love justin bieber… and to be honest, i dont care if its attached to a charity too, i refuse to buy these products. wooow OPI, cant believe you sunk this low.

    • Deborah says:

I don’t think I would have loved him when I was 14 either.

Haha, can you imagine how the conversation went? “So, Biebs, here’s the thing. You’re a dude and all, but what about designing nail polish?”

*sigh* Maybe Pete Wentz should come out with make-up…except he might actually convince me to buy it!

  2. Kendal says:

I’m not blown away by any of it, really.

  3. Zemlet says:

Nothing about it seems that unique and the Biebs association is a huge negative for me, so I’m going to pass. So far the celeb collab I’m most looking forward to is Serena Williams.

  4. DLFM says:

Wasn’t going to buy it before but some of the promo pics looked ok. This makes them look really underwhelming.

  5. Debra says:

I don’t really like the collection at all…and the fact that it’s Justin Bieber really throws me off too.

  6. Deborah says:

    Don’t. Do. It.

Let’s be frank here: Justin Beiber creating nail polish is just lame. It’s commercialism at it’s best (um, worst?).

Honestly, none of the colors really grab me all that much. The purples are predictable and the other colors are too bright. I’ve never really been much a fan of the Nicole by OPI colors though.

Perhaps if I was part of the targeted demographic I’d be more enthralled. I’d expect to see this collection sell well at Limited Too or Justice for Girls.

  7. jenny says:

I’m totally going to snatch up a couple of those. As I’ve said in other places, the fact that I do not know who this kid is means I can enjoy these without all the fuss.

However, who decided that what she was doing in that video was “nail art”?

  8. Mmmm Edward from Twilight, haha. I’m not middleaged though :P . I also like Me + blue.

  9. KatieM says:

I don’t know who Justin Beiber is and I’m not a fan of Nicole np and if it weren’t for wanting to find out more about the OPI/Serena Williams collaboration Zemlet mentioned I wouldn’t have any comment at all.

  10. Amber says:

Can’t believe I bothered watching that LOL. Not a bieber fan at all and not a fan of the nail “art” that was done at all. With that said I did like the sparkly purple color. The others I’ve seem to have seen before..especially the silver and the dark people.

  11. Maureen says:

I hate to say it but I secretly like theses colors. (I guess it’s not so secret now). I’ll probably add a few to my collection.

  12. Taffy says:

I don`t care about any celebrities, but I do care if the polish colours are nice. The polish looks alright, but nothing there is calling my name. but I will probably end up buying a few of them for my tween cousin. She loves the Biebs…

  13. NailPolishFan says:

I don’t like this collection at all. I’ve seen Nicole by OPI at my local Wal-Mart and these colors look like ones they already have out. The only difference is JB’s name is attached to it. And if you go on Nicole by OPI website they already have two clear polishes with hearts in them. Why a third? Why this collection? Just my opinion.

  14. Chiyou says:

you just made my day by saying that you’re not a Twilight fan. I am still trying to understand why so many people are head over heels about it. And JB polish? PASS.

  15. Andrea says:

I like a couple of these polishes but it bugs me how the woman on the video was wearing cheap costume jewellry in bright colours, a turquoise flannel shirt and doing peace signs like she’s 12-years-old. The video would have been better if they actually hired a tween to do it or the woman just acted her age. Seriously, no one’s buying your phony age.

    • Plastic_Cup_of_Stars says:

I thought she sounded like an idiot. This is the rep that Nicole used to discuss, describe, and promote their product?? I could’ve done a better job, and I’m no polish pro.

  16. Kristina, lover of polish says:

Even after the video..I just can’t get into the Bieber-fever Nicole polish. I do admire that proceeds will be donated to a cause. I’d rather save my $$ for Lippmann or another favorite brand! Thanks for the info though, I like to know what’s out there! Really, I’d like to talk to Nicole OPI about the bottle design! It’s less than desirable! LOL!

  17. Sarah says:

I can’t stand Justin Beiber. HOWEVER, I love nail polish. And just cause his bowl cut is attached to a reeeaaally pretty sparkly purple nail polish, does not mean I won’t buy it. ‘Cause I’m a sucker for two things: sparkle & purple.

  18. Marie says:

I heard about this collection and I’m a JB fan but I hadn’t seen the colors yet. They’re nothing great but I am curious about the purples!

  19. TropicalChrome says:

I will be taking a closer look at Give Me The First Dance but for one reason only – it looks like it’s very close to the color of my new car, and I’m trying to match it as closely as possible. Otherwise, meh.

  20. Such a strategic move, OPI! Now all the little girls who love JB are going to eat this up!

  21. Alllison says:

I still don’t get the connection.

  22. Susan says:

Oh, dear, this made me laugh! They remind me of the dollar polishes I used to buy at Claire’s Boutique back in the early nineties… awful! But I was thrilled with them back then, so I’m sure young teens will love these.

The poor model… all her different colored nails looked awful. She didn’t sound too thrilled about any of it…

I have to admit though to being stupidly intrigued by how they painted a purple glitter tip onto an existing purple nail. It was tack-tacular, but I think I might have to try it at home with some colors I already have.

  23. Ali says:

I… feel sorry for Justin Bieber and any manly pride he may have left, not that there was really any to begin with. It’s a good idea to make money though. It would definitely appeal to his fans, who are unfortunately my age. *is a 15 year old girl*

I would consider getting One Less Lonely Glitter, but OPI polishes in stores here cost $20, and to me, in comparison to pricing everywhere else, that’s too much.
It’s for charity, yes, but unfortunately I’m really put off by the idea of anything with the Bieber kid’s name to it in my house.

  24. Rachel says:

The fact that justin beiber is attached to this doesn’t mean anything to me, but it probably would to my eleven year old sister… which is why i’m considering buying some of these polishes as a christmas present for her. All that glitter is right up her alley!

  25. Steffi says:

Don’t like nicole polish, definitely don’t like Justin Beiber. ESPECIALLY after the stunt he pulled when he came out here. He made a lot of people quite upset.

  26. Chris says:

None of the colors are terribly unique, but I am like you, Michelle. It is hard for me to resist blues and purples. :)

  27. Anastasia Thompson says:

I will be at the store as soon as they hit the display on December first!! The colors are just fine, BUT my Goddaughters are ALLLLL about the “Bieber Fever”. LOL! It is fun to watch their first celeb crush and I would listen to hours of JB music with them just to make great memories with my girls!! I guess next time I do their manicures we can have a song to match each polish!

  28. Sherie says:

I HAVE to buy all of them, I have a tween-aged girl, lol.

  29. Ton says:

I dont have daughters but I do love purple and that was what caught my eye…but at $20+ a bottle I doubt I will indulge my love of purple as I already have a drawer full of pretty purple polish.

  30. Pan says:

I’ve only heard one of his songs, but just based on the polishes, I’m really interested in One Less Lonely Glitter and Step to the Beat of my Heart.

  31. Arrianne says:

I like the two purples and the blue, or is it two blues and a purple? I don’t know if I’ll actually get them though.

  32. alexxxxxxxxxx says:

ERROR! Didn’t you guys watch the video? It said the FANS designed it, but Justin Bieber was the “inspiration”! HA! I am not a fan of Bieber, but I find the colors nice. I think I’m going to get just one.
