Essie Resort Collection Preview

Every year since we’ve met, The Boyfriend and I have taken a vacation in the Spring.  We’re about to hit 11 years in April, that’s a lot of travel.  It’s usually to a tropical destination though we’ve had a few cold weather vacays as well. Anyway, this year we talked about heading to Cancun for a week of laying by the pool with endless fruity drinks but due to my inability to pull the trigger on a deal I found in January, that didn’t happen.

Instead we’re taking a trip to the Finger Lakes (one of our fave destinations) for a week of wine tasting so it’s not all bad but then I open my email to find THIS info from Essie. It’s like she’s teasing me with these colors.  I just want to dive into Turquoise & Caicos and not come up for air.

Beach bound jetsetters can now reach the pinnacle of resort-inspired style with this newest limited-edition collection by essie. The Resort Collection was created to mimic the sights and sounds of the world’s most exotic destinations. The four colors are must-have accessories for any tropical vacation and the only escape for your hands and feet that doesn’t require a passport.

Lapis Of Luxury – a dreamy ocean blue

Splash Of Grenadine – a playful magenta pink

Playa Del Platinum – an elegant and sheer sandy gray

Turquoise & Caicos – a flirty and pretty tropical aqua

“I wanted to create colors that would reflect a passion for all-things paradise,” says Essie Weingarten, founder and president of Essie Cosmetics, Ltd. “Chic vacationers are known for their island-inspired style and these nail colors add the final fashionable touch to that look.”

Vibrant and trendy, these bold colors are a must-have accessory for every beach goer and for those with no vacation plans in sight, they’ll bring a ray of sunny paradise into the day.

The Essie 2010 Resort Collection launches in May on essie.com and in salons nationwide.

Lapis of Luxury is calling my name. What about you?

Like you, I’ve got my eye on Turquoise & Caicos it looks gorgeous!

  2. Grace says:

Oh no, I haven’t even worn any of my art of spring purchases, and already I’m lemming this whole collection. I hope they come out with minis (I feel so much less guilty about buying them since I know I’ll never get through a whole bottle anyway).

Maybe some are dupes? Turquoise reminds me a bit of Greenport (just based on this little digital swatch), which I finally gave in and ordered. Ugh, polish hauling guilt.

  3. Maggie says:

    Turquoise & Caicos!

  4. Susie says:

I am IN LOVE with these colors. Can’t wait til is sandal weather and I can display finger and toe colors. Can’t help but stare at my own toes and don’t blame anyone else for doing the same. :-)

  5. Susie says:

    May? Gah! Too long.

  6. Lindsay says:

Soooo pretty! That Turquoise & Caicos polish looks like the one coming up from Chanel! But cheaper yay!!!

  7. Camila says:

Lapis of luxury is also calling my name!!

  8. sara says:

i am intrigued!!!! i can’t wait for swatches!

  9. Medusa says:

The shades Lapis Of Luxury and Turquoise & Caicos are my faves. I’ve visited Turks & Caicos before, and this shade *almost* captures how blue the water is. ;)

Speaking of Essie, I recently had a horrible encounter with their shade Perky Purple. It was a beautiful color, but the application was so awful (and it chipped later that day – yes, I had a professional manicure) that I am wary of Essie from now on. I’ve never had that happen with OPI before.

P.S. Right now I am wearing A-Rose At Noon…Broke By Dawn by OPI on my fingernails.

  10. kelliegonzo says:

wowza i can’t wait for turquoise & caicos!

  11. Ava says:

Any idea if these are cremes or shimmers? They look very promising!

  12. Nailtastic says:

  16. Sky says:

I like all the swatches. The names are too cute.

  17. Diane says:

I think I’m going to have to see swatches or bottle pics, because right now Turquoise & Caicos is looking very close to Greenport on my screen.

I do like Lapis of Luxury though.

  18. Andi says:

I’m very curious about all 4, especially Turquoise and Caicos, it looks awesome! Essie did MUCH better with this collection than they did with the last one, I love seeing some color. Can’t wait to see swatches of them!

  19. Glitterati says:

It’s been a while since I’ve really wanted every colour in a collection, but these are all must-haves for me! Especially T&C!

  20. pinksoysauce says:

I like Lapis of Luxury but loove Turquois & Caicos.

I’m surprised at how much I’ve been liking Essie lately; I prefer her polishes to OPI – can you believe it? Mainly it’s the brush; while I prefer OPI’s Pro-Wide for toenails, I like the thinner, rounder Essie for fingernails. That said, I still don’t like their sheers. Their cremes are just lovely though, so hopefully the Resort Collection will be just as amazing as the 2009 Spring colors!

    • Tanya says:

How come you don’t like the Essie sheers???? I like them and own waaaaaaaaay too many. ;)

Do you find them too streaky? I did have an issue with that, at first…. but then I figured out a way. First off, I use a NON-STICKY base coat. With a sticky base coat, a sheer color product may not “glide” on. I find that Essie’s Sensitive Base Coat or Orly’s Top 2 Bottom works well with sheers.

I also wait about 5 minutes before I apply a top coat.

Maybe you want to give Essie’s lovely sheers another try?!

      • All Lacquered Up says:

Tanya, I don’t like any sheers. I hate how they look on me. It’s nothing against Essie, it’s all sheer polishes. I don’t and won’t wear them

  21. NinaraPoll says:

I’ll take all four, please! ;)

  22. Niki* says:

I totally want to get my hands on Playa Del Platinum

  23. Elena says:

I like all four shades, but only Lapis and Turquoise are absolute must-haves. It’s great to see Essie doing colour, not just pinks and reds. Mesmerise and Greenport are two of my favourite Essie polishes.

  24. Mich says:

These look very promising! I can’t wait to see Lapis Of Luxury and Turquoise & Caicos :-)

  25. JoAnn says:

I love Turquoise and Caicos and Playa del Platinum! I can’t wait until this collection is released!

  26. Dee says:

Those colors look great! I can’t wait to see the swatches! I don’t think I have any turquoise nail polish — yet.

  27. Karina says:

Oh, by these promo pics, it looks like I might want all four!

  28. Kelsey says:

I am a sucker for blue and green cremes, so I am totally lemming Lapis of Luxury and Turqoise & Caicos. As if my lemming list isn’t long enough anyway… :P

I don’t want to wait until May!!!

  29. Virginia says:

OMG! I want them all. Just the other day, I was searching for news on Essie’s Summer collection. I can’t wait!!

  30. batbfan says:

I really like Playa Del Platinum and Lapis of Luxury.

  31. Totally can’t wait for these colors! Essie’s formula is so nice, and its great to see Essie branching out from their normal pinks and reds!

  32. Meg says:

I’m really liking Splash Of Grenadine and Playa Del Platinum. Ever since you posted those new CC swatches that included a couple of the “earthy” tones I have been craving to try some of them. Playa Del Platinum looks like a good one to try for this girl, who rarely ventures out to the more non-traditional polish colors! They just feel so zen! Not sure if I will like the sheerness of Playa Del Platinum but we will see!

  33. Cindi says:

So have you seen the new Ulta ad? Apparently they got a tip on the name of the Turquois and Caico’s because they have a new shade called swimming in the Turq’s and Caicos in their professional line…funny how they can’t come up with their own original name for a color….

  34. Alison says:

I love this collection and want them all. I love Essie polishes in general, their formula just works for me the best and the little bottles are super cute and girly too!

  35. Turquoise and Caicos looks great! That’s such a pretty color for spring and summer!

  36. crysje says:

i really did not like the art of spring and the essie bridal collection, there was nothing interesting in it for me…but this collection…i think all 4 go on my wishlist :)

  37. crysje says:

ps do you know anything about the finishes???

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Unfortunately I don’t though I’m guessing they are cremes. I should know more soon

  38. Jackie S. says:

I hope these are opaque in 2 coats..I really like Lapis Of Luxury and Turquoise & Caicos !

  39. Oohhh, I love the Turquoise & Caicos :)

  40. Tanya says:

I think, I want all 4…. but if I had to choose only one, it would have to force myself to pick either Lapis or Turquoise.

  41. Tina says:

All 4, please! Gah! There seem to be so many beautiful colors coming out this spring.

  42. elysia says:

i looove the colours, but i hate essie. i have 3 polishes for now and all of them are horribly streaky

  43. Christina says:

I just wanted to say that I just recently discovered your blog and LOVE it! As for the Essie polishes, I think all of them are beautiful! I definitely have my eyes on Splash of Grenadine and Playa Del Platinum.

Also, I live in upstate NY (about an hour from Seneca Lake), so I am very familiar with the Finger Lakes wineries… beautiful area, and lots of fun, too. Hope you enjoy your trip!

  44. Erin says:

My salon had all of these in today. I got Lapis and it is so amazing – already got a few compliments. It looks way better on than in the swatch. Start looking for them before May!!!

  45. Charlie says:

Where is your salon erin?? I need to get these colours asap!

  46. Lauren says:

    They’re finally available online. :)

  47. Gabi says:

I love the Splash Of Grenadine, I heading over to Essie to see if I can still scoop it up. Thanks!

  48. Suzume says:

I tried Essie Lapis of Luxury the other day and I hated it! so disappointed, it was really pale and insipid :(

  49. Thanks for the info,
I personally think Essie is rubbish however I too loved the Splash Of Grenadine
