CND Monday – Raisin in the Sun Colour & Gold Shimmer Effect

Welcome to CND Monday, a new feature here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.

I have to give in and admit that it is officially Fall. That the cold and gloom are here to stay in the old Cleveburg. I wouldn’t mind so much if we actually had a lovely long fall but I fear the white stuff (shh, don’t say its name) is looming in the distance.

For now, I will embrace the thought of warm cider, pumpkin everything and cozy sweater weather. The leaves on my trees are starting to turn and that inspired me to test drive a warm autumnal shade for CND Monday, Raisin in the Sun. I glitzed it out with a layer of Gold Shimmer which resulted in a surprising result. Take a peek after the jump!

Coming Soon – StrangeBeautiful Color Cubes

strangebeautiful, strange beautiful, library of color, volume 3, nail polish, nail lacquerWhen I first posted the StrangeBeautiful Volume 3 library quite a few of you commented about how you wish the polishes were sold separately. That dropping $79 for a whole set was a rather hefty investment for a new-to-you brand. I totally get that rationale, especially if your polish buying budget is limited.

Enter the StrangeBeautiful Color Cubes. StrangeBeautiful creator Jane Schub has ingeniously encased two shades from past Volumes in lucite cubes. See the full selection of Color Cubes after the jump!

The just launched STRANGEBEAUTIFUL Color Cube encasing two SB “Richly Perverse” colors in a deliciously sleek and chunky handmade Lucite Cube is akin to a miniature piece of modern furniture for the boudoir or bookshelf.

What I find unique about the cubes is that you can’t remove the bottles. You just unscrew the cap to apply. I wonder if this makes them unbreakable. If the cube protects the bottles should you accidentally knock it over. It’s like polish bottle armor.

Available Library of Color inspiration Duos include:

Redrope/A Good Eraser Duo

Dia Pink/ Federalist Orange Duo

Never Ending Deep Lake Blue/ J. Herbin Black Violette Duo

The StrangeBeautiful Color Cubes will be available at LuckyScent.com and retail for $25/ea.

So who’s jumping in on these? The Blue/Violette combo is calling my name and I don’t know why but looking at the Pink/Orange duo made that Legally Blonde quote pop in my head. “Whoever said orange is the new pink is seriously disturbed!” Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? Sound off Fanatics!

Think Pink – OPI Pink of Hearts 2009

For the 3rd year in a row, OPI has created a shade to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and raise breast cancer awareness. They will be donating $25,000 to the Komen For The Cure foundation.

“The fight against breast cancer continues, as does the unrelenting commitment of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help find the cures,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “OPI is proud to join with Komen for a third year, with Pink of Hearts 2009 Edition. It is OPI’s way to support the effort to end this disease, to honor those affected by it, and to give all women the power to help make a difference.”

Pink of Hearts 2009 is a slightly warm mid-tone pink creme. I would call it a semi-sheer since I could still see my tips after two coats. What you see below is three coats of color with no top coat.

As you know I am raising funds for breast cancer research through the Think Pink – Donate & Win Giveaway and OPI has been kind of enough to donate 3 bottles of Pink of Hearts 2009 to the cause. We are at the halfway point in the month and only a quarter of the way to our goal so please take a minute and consider donating to this worthy cause. You could just win a basket full of nail and beauty goodies.

Pink of Hearts 2009 is on sale now at salons nationwide including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret and Ulta for $8.50/ea.
