butter London‘s Turn In Your Toxins campaign is back for Earth Day 2009 but in a whole new way.

The first 500 people to log onto the butter London website on Earth Day, April 22nd, will win a bottle of 3 Free butter London lacquer to replace the toxic polish in your arsenal. Unlike last year where you had to live near a bL location to participate, we’re all eligible.

[Edited to add: The giveaway begins at 8am PST/11am EST]

Though even if you miss out on winning a free bottle of polish, you can still join in on the Turn In Your Toxins fun by taking advantage of their special Earth Day promotion. Pick your own 5-pack for only $40 (a $30 savings).

What does it mean to be first on April 22nd? There are different time zones.

  2. CincyFan says:

Great question! I know the company is based in Seattle. I’ll find out and update the post.

  3. Datura Rose says:

I would also like to know what time the giveaway starts, and also if they choose the colors or if we need to have 3 colors picked out.

  4. styrch says:

Hmmm… This is a brand I have not tried. Any particular colors that are must haves?

  5. CincyFan says:

Datura Rose – the giveaway is for one bottle of polish, not 3. Their line is called 3 Free, meaning three of the Big 3 toxic chemicals; DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde.

Styrch – I can’t recommend Thames enough. I also like Big Smoke, Mariner, Fash Pack and HRH.

FYI: I sent out an email requesting clarification on the start time for the giveaway. Hopefully I’ll have an answer tomorrow

I’m curious whether this only applies for US participants. Do they ship internationally? Thanks

I added this info to the post but just in case you subscribe to the comments…

The giveaway begins at 8am PST/11am EST.

  8. CincyFan says:

Halifax – Unfortunately the giveaway is open to US residents only. Sorry :(

  9. Idee Fixe says:

Arggh I added my varnish choices but it doesn’t give the discount! Seems the only thing that comes up with the $40 price is the pre-pack. :( I’ll have to email them to see what the deal is…
    Cheers!

the site isn’t working for me? it’s 11am EST now, and it keeps saying that “internet explorer cannot display the webpage.”

    anyone else having this problem?

  11. CincyFan says:

Did you all crash the site?? It’s not loading for me either.

  12. Anonymous says:

Site dead for me too at 8:36pst I guess they got a lot of hits all at once :)

  13. Christy says:

Website’s working now, but no mention of the free polish. :(

  14. pearlY says:

Site isn’t working until 10:40am, and you need to pay $7.33 s/h for that bottle of nail polish.

Wasting my time for refreshing the webpage for 30 mins

  15. CincyFan says:

Idee Fixe – you’re supposed to list your color choices in the comments section. Otherwise they automatically send the preselected shades.

  16. CincyFan says:

I am so sorry you guys. I had no idea this would happen. I wasn’t told about a code or shipping charges. I apologize. I just thought it would be a fun contest like the ones Allure does at the beginning of each month.

  17. Orli says:

UGH.. I checked the website at 3:55 GMT and it was working fine. I went back on at 3:59 and it suddenly stopped working. I refreshed for aaaages. It only started working again for me around 4:40ish then stopped again for another 10 minutes. Crazy! I wonder if they did it on purpose lol.

When I finally got to log in I couldn’t see anything about free polish?? I don’t mind having to pay shipping but I don’t even see free polish anywhere. :S

  18. csarah718 says:

I was totally thinking about purchasing the 5 for $40, and was excited because I thought I would be scoring a free polish on Earth day but after not being able to even get on to the website, forget it. Im mad that Butter got everyone all happy and wasted our time. They lost a would be (crazy polish buying) customer. Thanks for the info Michelle, totally not your fault!! Have a great weekend.
    Just another fan, Sarah
