Whether it be a swap package or a purchase it always feels like my birthday when something new arrives. Well today’s L.B. was a doozie. After stalking the Chanel website like a crack fiend for the past month (I know they said July but you never know), the Robertson Collection FINALLY went on sale last Thursday. In fact, I was running late to see a movie as I scrambled to place my order. But now L.A. Sunrise is mine, ALL MINE!

Holy yellow hotness, Chanel! You have seriously made my day. I’ve been on the search for the perfect lemon nail polish and L.A. Sunrise is it. Not too mustard, too light or too gold. Just pure lemon pudding with a whisper of silver shimmer. Perfection!

I just wish that fabulosity (yes, I’ve watched Kimora’s reality show) translated to the formula. I’ve been pretty pleased with the application of Chanel polishes in the past and I don’t know if it’s just the nature of yellow polish but I can’t get one, NOT ONE, to apply well. Every yellow I own is thicker and more streaky than its collection counterparts and they all require three coats. For $25 a bottle, I expect more.

Unfortunately, I don’t own a yellow with the same softness and opacity but if you find one shout it out in the comments! Until a twin is found, I direct you to the Chanel.com website where L.A. Sunrise is still available along with the rest of the Robertson Collection.

That looks great on you! I splurged on the whole Robertson Collection (!) and it is going to be delivered today per ups.com… yay!

Crap now I want even more and I don’t really thing yellow will work for me.

  3. Scrangie says:

Ah, so it’s not just me! I like the color, but I can’t deal with the formula! Not for $25 at least… If it cost about the same as an OPI or Chiina Glaze I wouldn’t be complaining about the formula!

  4. Davina says:

That is hott! How many coats did you use?

I has planned to order LA Sunrise or Rodeo Drive for months now, but after reading LA Sunrise has the same typical yellow application issues I think I’m either going to get Rodeo Drive instead or just stick with Gold Fiction which I got two weeks ago. I like Rodeo Drive, but the color just doesn’t seem as special to me as the amazing softness of the yellow in LA Sunrise and Rodeo Drive seems like a much easier shade to find a dupe for. Ok I officially just convinced myself to just stick with the Gold Fiction.

When I apply yellow, I try to use a white (talc-based) basecoat. This doesn’t totally solve the formula issues, but at least it makes the color appear more opaque.

“Creamy” from Zoya’s Candy Collection is a lemony sort of yellow…maybe somewhere between banana and yellow? I love yellow! Creamy definitely requires 3 coats to look sharp on me.

I just received Gold Fiction and Kaleidoscope in the mail, so I probably won’t be splurging on any more Chanel nail colors any time soon…even though LA Sunrise is stunning and unique.

    That is really pretty.

Those deliveries are sooo exciting! Yellow makes me look like I have jaundice so I’ll be avoiding that but I just picked up Gold Fiction last night! This time next week my fingers will be sparkling in Las Vegas. My Chanel Counter rep made me promise to go into the boutique at the Bellagio and see if they notice. ;-)
