Mark Hill Salon Professional Hair Care Crosses The Pond

When it comes to my hair, there is nothing I love more than a good blowout. I seriously HATE drying my hair, there’s just so much of it, and my wrist usually gives out while round brushing so I never get a salon quality finish to my hair.

That’s why, when I was invited to meet British hairstylist Mark Hill at BlogHer ’13 in Chicago, to celebrate the launch of his product line in the US with a blowout, I jumped at the chance.

Mark Hill Salon Professional is coming to Walgreens and Duane Reade stores, with an affordable price point (under $12) and a brand new product line, MiracOILicious, that will have all you argan oil fans jumping for joy.

Not only did Mark style my hair but he introduced me to a hot tool that I’ll be waiting in line to buy when it comes to the US at the end of the year.

About Mark Hill

Named “International Hairdresser of the Year” and “British Hairdresser of the Year,” Mark Hill considers himself a “celebrity’s hairdresser” not a “celebrity hairdresser.” He’s tended to the tresses of every major name you can think of, including Gaga, Madonna and the Royals (Will, Kate and Harry), complimenting the latter’s down-to-earth nature.

I was instantly charmed by Mark’s winning smile, enviable curls and warm demeanor. We talked about the animal print styling of  his products and tools. How it was his idea to make them stand out on shelves. About the recent birth of his baby girl, Honey Rose (how cute is that name?) and how he was with his wife for 19 years before marrying. ps, the secret to his curls is Work It Girl! Spray.

I started my Mark Hill experience with a wash using his MiracOILicious Shampoo and Conditioner. The shampoo is sulfate-free (major bonus!) and smells divine thanks to 14 essential oils and botanical extracts. The conditioner smells just as delicious and leaving my hair soft and smooth.

I’ve used the shampoo and conditioner since my visit, combined with the Only Takes a Minute! Detox Gloss Treatment, and the shine is a-MAH-zing!

After Mark blow-dried my hair, using a round brush, he added even more body using his, wait for it, VELCRO hot rollers, called Rock Rollers. I gave up on rollers years ago but these blew my mind. Not only were they big enough for all my hair, they really gripped, thanks to the Velcro. They won’t be available in the States until the end of the year but I’ll be camped out, waiting, when they are.

The finished product was bouncy, smooth hair with volume and movement. So in love with it! And not having to bother with my hair throughout BlogHer was a blessing. Pro Tip: To help maintain a blowout, Mark suggests twisting your hair into a high bun and securing with pins at bedtime.

love your pics – product line looks amazing – thanks!
any suggestions for other easy-to-get well-priced sulfate free shampoos? (i know, not a nail question!)

    • Michelle Mismas says:

Hi Lara! I hear you’re doing the LLC again. Good for you. Maybe next year for me.

Organix is another line of sulfate-free shampoos available at drugstores and ULTA. L’Oreal has one as well, the Ever line (EverCreme, EverSleek) but I get build-up from it that weighs my hair down over time. AG and Pureology are more expensive but can be found easily at ULTA. Kenra Platinum is probably my all-time favorite sulfate-free shampoo but it’s expensive. That’s why I was so happy to find the Mark Hill line. Affordable and works well.

Anyone know if this shampoo can be used with a brazilian blow dry?

    • Michelle Mismas says:

Hmm, I don’t know enough about the Brazilian and Keratin treatments to answer that. Let me see what I can find out
