Sally Hansen Sent Me To Green Heaven

It’s no big surprise to say that I FLIPPED when I heard that Sally Hansen released not one but TWO fabulous greens as part of their Fall/Winter collections. The Salon Nail Lacquer line introduced Emerald Ring, Take A Tourmaline and Heart Sapphire while Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear put out Mellow Yellow, Emerald City, In The Navy and Gunmetal. I have yet to see the Salon colors on sale near me but I was fortunate to have Emerald Ring gifted to me by the lovely Jamie from The Beauty of Life, a fellow green polish lover.

Emerald Ring is a stunning blue based forest green shimmer that is dark but still noticeably green. Of the two, I’d say this one is more user friendly only because it’s not as bright which makes it a bit more chic and elegant for a green. Of course I was so excited to show this baby off that I didn’t have a chance to look for dupes but it’s on my to do list. Check the comments for an update.

Emerald Ring is not overly pigmented so three thin coats were needed but you could probably get by with two thicker ones. The formula applies smoothly and easily and dries with a nice glossy sheen.

OMG you guys! Emerald City is so much fun! It matches my ring dead on. I added a pic of it below but the flash makes it appear lighter than reality. What I love is that the polish isn’t too bright or too dark. There’s no blue undertones or gold shimmer affecting its perfection. Though it’s not for the faint of heart. I’d say that for non-green lovers this shade is best kept to holiday wear. Me… I’ve got it on for Halloween. A day that should mean glow-in-the-dark, pumpkin orange or black nails. I just felt like being “green” today.

The formula is a little odd though. It has a jelly feel that doesn’t flow or even out so your application needs to be precise. The pigmentation is more sheer than Emerald Ring so three coats are necessary period. But considering the price and final color, who cares about an extra coat.

The Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer ($6.00) and Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear ($2.60)Fall/Winter polishes are in drugstores now but you know the drill, the Salon LE’s always call for a little stalking before they’re found.

I love, love, love these! My favorite one is Emerald City (which I’ve been wearing) but I can’t find Emerald Ring yet. They both look FAB on you!!

Not a fan of those greens.

  4. AutumnTwilight says:

I really love the darker one, so vibrant and yet an elegant take on the green I think :D

I am so going to have to hunt down the three Salon ones which might prove more difficult than usual since none of my local drugstores even have the collection stormy blue was part of yet which is so strange considering that they normally get new SH polishes way before stores in other areas do. Must have Emerald Ring!

  6. Sanna says:

    Emerald Ring looks amazing!
    LOVE

  7. Princess Malphaba says:

I just bought Emerald City, and its the first green I’ve been excited to try. Usually I can’t pull them off.

  8. Allie says:

I think ER looks like Sinful San Francisco. Are they similar at all?

This is so unbelivably gorgeous! Do you know when emerald ring will hit the shelves?

So glad for this post :)

I was just looking all over the internets for greens. Emerald City looks the closest to the green I’m looking for, greens always seem to be part of a special collection, ugh.

Ah well, off to the drugstore tomorrow :)

Okay, totally unrelated to this post but I gotta ask a nail question and figured this was a good place to do it. I just started painting my nails in the last 6 months and I always have the same problem. No matter how long I let my polish dry, I end up with creases and scuff marks on my polish when I wake up the next day.

I did my nails last night at midnight (2 coats over a base and then did a quick dry top coat) and let them (did not touch anything) until 5am when I went to bed. Woke up today and there are scuff marks and stuff on my nails from my sheets!!! I don’t know what to do, I want my manicure to stay nice and smooth :(

I’m so glad you love Emerald Ring! It looks fab on you, but of course. So nice to see you putting it to good use!

I like Emerald Ring the best.

I have looked everywhere for Emerald Ring and have had no luck in finding it. I live in Houston. Someone has to have this polish! It is so beautiful!!!

Hey I’m not sure if this is really related to this post but I just thought I’d put it out there that ChG Emerald Sparkle and Tinsel are available on head2toebeauty individually now if anyone has been waiting for them… I was so happy because I missed out on the Sleigh Ride set and had to have those colors =D

Where would you suggest looking for Emerald Ring? I’ve seen Emerald City at several stores that carry Sally Hansen, no luck on Emerald Ring though. I know you’ve mentioned Great Northern mall, which I’m pretty close to, so any suggestions of stores in that area would be appreciated!

Love these greens espically Emerald Ring – def a must have :)

  18. Katee says:

I just found the most fabulous green ever (ok besides Zulu. It is Poison Ivy by BB Couture for Nails. It is the green polish in my profile pic. AMAZING!!

  19. Midnight Cowgirl says:

    I love this green!

  20. CincyFan says:

Silverin – Thanks, I can’t get enough of greens.

The Pink Owl – I hope you can find ER. I know those Salon LE colors aren’t the easiest to locate.

Katee – What kind of greens do you like?

    Autumntwilight – I completely agree

Kirsten – Good luck on your hunt!

Sanna – You seem to be a green lover like me. :)

Malphaba – How did EC look on you? Has it converted you to greens?

Allie – ER has more blue in its base, leaning towards a dark teal. If anything, I’d say that San Francisco is closer to Emerald City.

  21. CincyFan says:

Bleu Poppy – I’ve read that people have been randomly finding E.R. on shelves so it’s out there, it’s just a matter of finding it.

Raspberry D’lite – You know, I’ve seen E.C. mixed in with the rest of the Xtreme wear colors so I’m hoping these are perm.

Autumntwilight – Wow, that’s frustrating. Without knowing the exact products you’re using it’s hard to say what the culprit is. Have you tried quick dry spray or drops? OPI, CND and Zoya all make ones that I’ve had sucess with. If all else fails, throw on a thin layer of top coat in the morning to smooth it out.

Beautychick101 – Are you kidding? THANK YOU for the polish. I love it!

Home Spa Goddess – Thanks for the feedback

  22. CincyFan says:

Anon – I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble tracking it down. I hope you find it soon.

Anon #2 – Thanks for sharing. I know a lot of people were disappointed when the set sold out online.

Steph – Thanks! I’m glad you like them

Katee – I’ve never heard of that brand before. That is a pretty green but it seems like a hard color to pull off outside of summer.

Midnight Cowgirl – I love hearing from so many fellow green lovers. It’s great to know I’m not alone

Anon #3 – Thanks for the heads up. People suck for stealing my work.
