Nonie Creme Colour Prevails review

There’s a new nail polish brand on the drugstore block, Nonie Creme Colour Prevails. butter LONDON fans will recognize Nonie Creme as the former Creative Director. It’s been a few years since her departure, and I know I wasn’t the only one wondering where she would take her creative genius.

I’ve kept tabs on Nonie through social media, and when she previewed Colour Prevails last September, during New York Fashion Week, I couldn’t wait to hear more. Colour Prevails is more than just nail polish; the line includes foundation, eye shadow, lipstick etc., in decorative packaging that features butterfly wings. I couldn’t resist the unique cap on the Nail Lacquer, so I ordered a few bottles to try.

L’Oreal Dark Sides of Grey

Maybe it’s the Fifty Shades phenomenon, maybe it’s just that grey polish kicks ass. Either way, it’s a trending color right now and L’Oreal Paris has jumped on the bandwagon with the L’Oreal Dark Sides of Grey collection.

SAG Awards Nail Art – Lupita Nyong’o in Elie Saab

Award shows are my idea of sports. I would much rather watch the red carpet action than the Cavs play, even with LeBron back in town. Between the E! red carpet coverage, Fashion Police recaps and the shows themselves, my DVR is a flurry of activity.

This past Sunday, the actor-centric SAG Awards aired and, per usual, I was live-tweeting the red carpetwaiting for my favorite film and tv show casts to win, and they did. Yay Birdman!

When Lupita Nyong’o stepped out on the carpet in this floral Elie Saab, I swear I could hear an actual gasp on Twitter. Her gorgeous gown stuck in my head and I just had to recreate it as nail art. And it just so happens that the OPI Fifty Shades of Grey collection was perfect for the task.

OPI Infinite Shine Review

OPI has entered the gel hybrid game with OPI Infinite Shine. A concept similar to CND VINYLUX, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel and Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy, it claims to deliver gel-like shine and 10-day wear with the ease of removal you get from regular nail polish.

Though, differentiating itself from the others, OPI Infinite Shine is a 3-Step system. After experiencing dulling with VINYLUX, staining with Gel Envy and a streaky finish with Miracle Gel, I was curious how OPI’s version would compare so, I picked up a couple bottles and put it to the test.

OPI Fifty Shades of Grey

Flash back to Spring 2012. I’m listening to Jennifer Hutt on Sirius XM Stars as she spends an entire hour asking people to call in if they’ve read some book called Fifty Shades of Grey. Apparently all the mom’s in her Jersey suburb were reading the Twilight fan fiction and calling it “mommy porn.”

Six months later everyone and their mother was talking about it so, of course, I gave in and read the first book. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that the writing is awful. AW-FUL! Regardless, come February, the X-rated phenomenon will come to the big screen and OPI has partnered with the film to bring us six inspired shades.

I’ve long been a fan of grey polish, even after it was bastardized into griege and griolet, and happily welcome new versions into my collection. So, even if I’m not jazzed about the movie, I’m all in on the OPI Fifty Shades of Grey collection.
