RESCUE BEAUTYʼS Spring/11 POLISHES SUIT FASHION SCHIZOPHRENTICS
The variety of moods and personas shown on this Spring//Summerʼs runways was a tribute to the fashion schizophrentic in all of us.
This Spring, Rescue Beauty Lounge founder Ji Baek has created a collection that is a hodgepodge of her favorite trends from the Spring fashion collections. It reflects the multiple fashion personalities seen on the runways and, for the first time, we’re seeing a RBL collection without a cohesive theme.
Much like a typical woman’s wardrobe, Iconic/Ironic is a mix & match cornucopia of color reflecting different trends and lifestyle needs. From the office friendly neutral, Decorous, to the out-all-night, punk rock black, Iconoclast, this collection has something for everyone. |

One of Color Club’s three, yes I said three, new collections is Rebel Debutante. The collection introduces nine new creme polishes that for the most part are very chic and subdued but it’s the stand out blue and green that caught my eye.
What an unexpected twist to add such bright pops of color to the palette. I suppose they are the rebels in the group. Though what I like about this collection as a whole is that even though the majority of the shades are neutrals, they are what I’d call “new neutrals.” They have an updated feel to them. See what I mean after the jump! |

MAC always finds a way to drag their fans out of the house the day after Christmas thanks to their post-holiday collections. This year they launched Love Lace and Warm & Cozy both of which included new nail colors.
Love Lace with its focus on the dark smokey eye comes with the pale creamy Light Affair while Warm & Cozy has a very sitting by the fire with a cup of cocoa feel thanks to Dim The Lights. Check them out after the jump! |

Welcome to CND Monday, a regular series here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.
One of my favorite CND polishes from the old line is NFS, a deep teal-based green with subtle tonal shimmer. You know me and my greens. It’s a shame NFS has reached hard-to-find status but I was pleased to hear that the new Colour & Effects line included a blackened green, Oilslick, in the lineup.
Up until now I’ve only shown layering combinations using the Effects but I discovered a great combo with the Colours during New York Fashion Week. The CND Team raved about the look they created for Monique Lhuillier’s collection using Oilslick, Raisin in the Sun and Super Matte top coat. Check out my re-creation after the jump! |

I discovered RGB Cosmetics when I saw their Pre-Fall Collection polish, Steel, featured in Allure. Of course, “Pre-Fall” meant there would be more polishes coming our way for the season. The Fall collection recently launched and includes Cognac, Crimson and Doll.
Quite a few Fanatics have inquired about the Fall shades and they have a more traditional feel than what we saw in Pre-Fall. With the popularity of dark green and metallics this season, I was hoping to see a bit more edge though I did find myself drawn to Cognac (far left). Check it out along with the rest of the collection after the jump! |
