The more I use Morgan Taylor polishes, the more I become a fangirl. They are definitely one of my favorite new brands to emerge in the past couple years. And the Morgan Taylor Holiday 2014 collection, Home for the Holidays, only cements that feeling. I received four of the six shades to share with you so check them out below!
Formula & Application
Morgan Taylor nail polish is 5-Free (Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor). The tapered glass bottles have a weighty, substantial feel and the smooth plastic cap has a bit of a curve at the base which rests comfortably between fingers. The brush is long, flat, dense and medium in width. The bristles are firm but can fan out to give good coverage.
The four lacquers I tried from this collection have a good flow and are easy to manipulate on the nail. The brush on the blue was a bit wonky so I couldn’t get a super clean line at the cuticle but that’s not the formula’s fault.
All four shades are well pigmented, even though three of them have semi-sheer jellyish bases. The only exception being Snow Place Like Home. Even after three coats I could still see my nails so it will work better for me as a top coat.
Morgan Taylor Deck The Halls is Ruby Pumps on a glitter high. Think cherry red, heavily pigmented jelly base packed with metallic glitter and larger hex sequins. It glows!
Morgan Taylor Midnight Rendezvous is a black semi-sheer jelly base with light blue and holo micro-glitters that is the nail polish equivalent of a galaxy nail.
Morgan Taylor New Year, New Blue is a deep sapphire blue shimmer. It reveals a purple color shift in the bottle but on the nail it’s pretty much lost.
Morgan Taylor Snow Place Like Home is a semi-sheer pearl with a metallic shimmer and holographic hex glitter in varying sizes. Reminds me of a snow globe.
Bottom Line: I’ve said many times that reds aren’t normally my thing but Deck The Halls is gorgeous and I love the cosmic look of Midnight Rendezvous. Snow Place Like Home will be great for layering and even though I adore blues, New Year, New Blue just isn’t a stand out next to the others.
