Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition Nail Color – Part 2

Last week I showed you the first half of the new Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition collection and now I’m wrapping up the back end and including a couple comparisons for you.

I should note that I was not aware that there are actually eight shades in the collection. A reader pointed out that I am missing a pink named Digital. I incorrectly assumed that Opulent Cloud was the eighth polish in this lineup but it will actually launch closer to fall. Check out the rest of the colors, after the jump!

Lite has got to be one of my favorite yellows of late. It’s the yellow brick road in a bottle. I love how it glows on the nail and its pigmentation is way more impressive than its HD sisters.
Looking through my collection of yellows, OPI Lemonade Stand By Your Man is a very close twin to Lite. The only major difference is opacity. After three coats, the OPI still has a VNL (visible nail line). And just for funsies I threw in China Glaze Yell-O-Neil which is way more French’s mustard than the rest.
Three D is a warm coral that flashes hot pink. It’s not quite as vibrant as the other HDs and therefore not really wow-tastic. Of all the colors in this collection, this is the one I’d pass on.
Hi Res is much more rosy in person and extremely vivid, not an easy one to capture. It’s packed with pigment so three coats were barely necessary, though I did it anyway for consistency.
After seeing Blu in part one, reader moonchaii asked to see it next to Illamasqua Fern and China Glaze Frostbite. I’d say it falls somewhere in between the two.

The Sally Hansen Hi-Definition Nail Color collection ($5.95) officially launches in July at drugstores and mass retailers like WalMart, KMart and Target though readers have already begun spotting them on shelves around the country.

So now that you’ve seen all the shades, which ones are your favorites? Which ones are a pass?

Love the colors in this collection. I can’t wait to try them on my own nails.

  2. crotchfairy says:

I’ve started seeing them already. But where is Opulent Cloud? The original display for the Hi Defs don’t have space for that gorgeous color.
I might go with your advice and get Glow instead. I see it at Walgreens still. Alright, I might get the yellow one.

Thanks so much for the comparison =]

My favorite is the blue, I like the yellow a bunch but am way too shy to try a color that bright on my nails. Maybe I will anyway, I’m drawn to it.

With all the turquoises coming out, I’m not sure which to get, so whether or not I get Pixell Pretty will require some more thought

Diana – which ones are you loving most?

crotchfairy – I’ll try and get a definite confirmation this week about Opulent Cloud but I believe it will be a fall limited (of course) release.

moonchaii – I’m glad I could help. I say get the yellow. Polish is temporary. If you hate how it looks, remove it and give to a friend.

I didn’t think I’d like the yellow as much so I’m definetly getting that one. Could you do a comparison between that yellow and Mac’s Phosphor? I’m also getting the blue.

Thank you so much for comparing Lite with Yell-O-Neil. I fell in love with YON the second I finished my first manicure with it (following about a month of trepidation when I first bought it!), and I’m glad to see there’s a big enough difference to merit picking this one up, too. Yay!

Let me tell you, these colors are great! And another thing that showcases their awesome-ness is your ability to stay in the lines :) Your perfection with the application is refreshing. So many people upload pics of their polish with it running all over their cuticles! Why is this the case? Thank you for being wonderful.

    i love frost bite – can’t believe i haven’t seen it yet.

it does look similar to milani’s blazing blue if i remember the name correctly

THERES NEW COLORS!! :) i live in chicago and went to a walgreens downtown where i usually get my nail polish today. I already have all of the first 8 except Pixel Pretty, the apple green one and Three D and LOVE THEM! so i got super excited when i saw there’s 8 NEW COLORS coming too. i bought 3 today. some of the new colors are a lot more “sparkley” than the first 8 but awesome!

there’s “HUE” which is like a very pale yellow with hints of gold – very bright, almost pearly. “DVD” is like a lighter grape with flecks of pink. and “Laser” is a darker purple with flecks of blue.

I’m going back tomorrow to get the others :)
