February 2007

I took on the MUA Nail Board’s “dare week” by wearing sheer polishes (so NOT me) and finally discovered a sheer I love; Zoya Bailey.

I flipped for the matching berry lips & tips at the Diane Von Furstenberg runway show during New York Fashion Week.

February 2008

I fell in love with OPI all over again thanks to the incredible new formula in the India collection.

I took you backstage with me at my very first New York Fashion Week show and it was a doozy;  Kimora Lee Simmons Baby Phat collection.

February 2009

We took a look at the Zoya Twist Collection which included standout shades, Jo (cornflower blue) and Harley (shimmering gray).

Thanks to ALU Mom & Dad I was able to share with you my favorite hand cream from Aruba Aloe.

It’s the first week of February and even though that stupid groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter, I’m choosing to ignore him. It’s a sunny day in the Cleveburg and the days are finally starting to feel longer. So despite what that rodent says, I’m feeling optimistic about an early spring.

Today is Superbowl Sunday and this year the boyfriend and I are staying home. We’re stocked up on plenty of good beer and junk food and at some point he’s going to shovel his way to the grill (what a man!). I’m leaving for Fashion Week early Friday morning so I wasn’t really up for a party anyway. Plus, I’d really love to hear the commercials for once. It’s the only reason I watch the stupid game.

I recapped my visit to the NYC Lancome Boutique and shared pics of their C’est Magnifique Holiday polishes and my vampy lipstick discovery.

Givenchy’s Purple By Night from the Nightlights holiday collection made my purple loving heart swoon.

I discovered an amazing brand of haircare, New York Streets, that is so good it get’s my “As Amazing As Polish” stamp of approval.

November 2007
We discussed the fashion crime known as “Toes & Hose” and a solution to stop the insanity of it all.

I helped my fellow blue polish lovers out with a comparison of OPI’s best blues of the year.

The 2007 Sephora Holiday catalog caused a frenzy when they used NARS Zulu on their cover girl.

As I stated yesterday, I experienced my first roller derby bout last night. I went to watch my friend (aka Holly Huntress) compete with the Black team in a charity bout benefiting Toys For Tots and Coats For Kids. It was a lot of fun and in the very last seconds, Team Black pulled out a victory by 1 point.

I have to say, watching the “fresh meat” play full contact musical chairs was probably my favorite part. Those girls were not playing around. I heard the announcer say, “there’s blood on the floor and the chair,” while the refs ran out with towels. That’s no joke!

Right now, I’m testing a new brand of polish that I can’t wait to tell you about. I’ll share more on that later in the week. In the meantime, what’s on your nails Fanatics?

I was bowled over by the release of two amazing GREENS from Sally Hansen.

I introduced the “As Amazing As Polish” series with my mascara obsession, Estee Lauder Turbo Lash. It’s still my #1 mascara.

I shared my theory about Smoky Nails replacing the Smoky Eye for fall.

The Essie Winter 2007 collection debuted including charcoal stunner Over The Top.

I offered my tips for preventing air bubbles in polish.

OPI’s Holiday in Hollywood collection introduced me to one of my fave pale shades, Hollywood Blonde.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and that those of you who celebrate Halloween had fun dressing up and decorating your nails. The biggest effort I make on Halloween is a themed manicure and passing out candy to the kids.

I do love that we have an abundance of tots in the under 7 age group. They’re so darn cute in their costumes it almost (ALMOST) makes me want one of my own. The moment is fleeting at best. The Boyfriend institutes the candy distribution rules and the cuter and younger you are, the more he hands out. He’s a sucker for the little ones that can barely squeak out “trick or treat.”

I was going to share my Halloween manicure with you but it went south before Trick-or-Treat even began. I applied the orange from StrangeBeautiful Vol 1 (my order from LuckyScent just came in) and added a layer of China Glaze Ghoulish GLOW on top. I’ve been wanting to try glow-in-the-dark nails and is there ever a better time? Well, Ghoulish GLOW was a major fail for me. It took forever to dry so I ended up with dents, marks and whatnot AND it didn’t even glow! Color me disappointed.

We took a look at one of the big trends for Fall 2008, Metallic Nails including the sell-out hit Chanel Kaleidoscope.

China Glaze launched the holiday Sleigh Ride collection with the best green glitter EVER Emerald Sparkle.

OPI’s Holiday In Toyland polishes including Brand New Skates and Baby It’s Coal Outside caused me to reminisce about one of my fave cheesy holiday flicks, Santa Claus The Movie.

September 2007
MAC released the Smoke Signals and Blue Storm collections which included cult faves Wildfire and Whirlwind.

I talked about Fall Nail Trends which included jewel tones and gunmetal grays. A lot of shades that are still making the nail scene.

I showed you how to customize your nail look through layering and introduced the MUA Nail Board term for custom blending, Frankenpolish.

How was your weekend Fanatics? The Boyfriend and I went to this fun event inside one of the bridges downtown. That’s right, I said INSIDE the bridge. The city opened a tunnel under the Detroit-Superior bridge that was used for trolley cars back in the day to hold a music and art festival. Of course the PBR on tap wasn’t exactly my speed so we walked over to the Great Lakes Brewery for a pint or two and ended up embracing their Oktoberfest menu, indulging in knockwurst and pork schnitzel. Yum!

Chanel and Seventeen Magazine unveiled their color naming contest winner, the holiday sensation Haute Chocolat.

I took you Backstage with CND at NYFW in my three part The Nail Files series.

China Glaze put a twist on the idea of “winter blues” with the tropical themed Bahama Blues collection.

We got our first peek at Zoya Utopia, their holiday collection that included two of my fave shades Akyra and Irene.

I shared the details of my visit to Art of Beauty, parent company of Zoya, Qtica and Nocti.

It was Emmy night and I couldn’t help but love Christina Aguilera’s Old Hollywood look that included fiery red nails.

Well Fanatics, it’s been one heck of a recouping week for me. After returning from New York Fashion Week, I’ve been attempting to get my sleeping and eating schedule back on track, NO ONE eats at Fashion Week, as well as ruminating over everything I saw. In addition to sharing some great new nail collections with you this week, I’ll also be doing my NYFW Wrap Up. There’s lots of fun in the days ahead including a cool, creative giveaway! I’ve spent the weekend preparing to take on another Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC so I loved looking back at my previous Spring season posts. This will be my first time covering Spring from backstage so I’m beyond excited to be in New York when it’s not freezing. Let’s just hope it doesn’t monsoon this year!

I went gaga over fan favorites Frostbite and Outta Bounds from the China Glaze Ski collection.

It was Fashion Week in NYC and I spotted some funky reverse french tips on the models in Gwen Stefani‘s L.A.M.B. Spring show.

My pal Nikki (aka The Princess of Pink) let me borrow her OPI Pinkalicious limited edition polishes to share with all of you.

I hope you had a relaxing and labor free Labor Day weekend. What’s on your nails today? I put on Chanel Jade. It looks fab paired with my RBL Mismas toes.

The comic book themed Operation Colour collection from China Glaze flew into town with an unexpected punch of color for fall.

We talked about buying polish based solely on name in Fanatic Feedback.

Misa knocked me out with Toxic Seduction (a green, duh!) from the Poisoned Passion collection.

I had a flashback to the grunge era 90′s due to the flannel inspired colors from the China Glaze Rodeo Diva set, Flannel Fixation, a gorg set of jewel tones.

August 2007
American Salon Magazine showed us alternative uses for polish when they painted some adorable dog figurines with their fave fall shades.

I put Poshe Top Coat to the test in my 5 day challenge to see how it wears when using 3Free and non-3Free base/polish combinations.

China Glaze introduced the collection that made MUA nail board searches irrelevant; the roman numeral themed 10th Anniversary X Collection.
