I stood up on Sunday, literally after writing my last post, and felt a shooting pain in my back. This happened to me one before in my mid-20s with no explanation and again i have no clue what triggered it. Since Sunday I have been flat on my back, moving only out off extreme necessity. Happy Anniversary to me!

I had planned to finish editing my NYE manni pics after having a drink. Clearly that didn’t happen so i wanted to update you all so you don’t think I disappeared. Btw, I’m typing this on my tablet so please excuse any errors. I have appointments with a doctor and chiropractor tomorrow so let’s hope I can get some relief asap. Yes, I’m going to both because I want to cover my bets.

In the meantime I’ve been tearing through my Kindle library and if you’re at all interested in celebrity or Hollywood I suggest you check out Rob Lowe’s autobiography. It’s smart, interesting and seems unreal. The man gives new meaning to destiny and chance encounter. It doesn’t hurt that he’s one of my longest-running celebs crushes, aside from Christian Bale.

I’ll keep you posted on how it ask goes. Keep you fingers crossed.

Those I words I never thought I’d utter.  You see I grew up in a Ford/Chrysler home so it has never occurred to me to venture into Chevy territory when buying a car.  So why am I telling you this?  Well the Northeastern Ohio Area Chevy Dealers approached me about participating in their Gotta Love Chevy Girls On The Go program.  Over the past few months bloggers from the area have been test driving different Chevy vehicles and doing fun missions that highlight the features of the car.  Considering that I have no real experience with Chevy I decided to take on the challenge.

Over the next few weeks myself and two of my fellow CLE bloggers will be driving a Chevy Cruze around town putting it to the test during a harsh Cleveland winter.  You can follow our adventures on the Gotta Love Chevy NEO website.

Katrina from Bite Buff and Suzanne from Life On Mars and I picked up our Cruze’s together and thankfully the dealer who showed us the car’s features was able to deal with our shenanigans. After discussing Suzanne’s current obsession with Dexter (yes, she’s late to the party), we wondered if the immense truck space that the Cruze touts could contain a body.  Katrina was more than happy to help us find out.

Now that I’ve had to a chance to test out the Cruze some I have to agree with ALU Dad who said, “That’s a pretty neat little car, man.”  In ALU Dad speak that’s high praise and much like Boomhauer from King of the Hill, all my Dad’s sentences end in “man.”  Now I haven’t driven a car, let alone something this compact, in at least 12 years so it’s taken some getting used to but the Cruze does have its advantages.  Like features that you can’t find on a lot cars of this size and price range such as heated seats and remote start (so necessary in the winter).

Friday night I went out with a couple friends to a local event called the Tremont ArtWalk. Once a month local businesses host art showings from 6-10pm and it’s a great way to support emerging artists along with the unique neighborhood shops.

One of our stops was at a vintage shop where I couldn’t help but peruse the 60s fashion magazines, compacts, atomizers and yes, nail polish. I found, in a random bin, this bottle of “Extra Frosted” nail polish from Clairol and I just had to share.

I didn’t even know Clairol made polish back in the day. Though just seeing the word “frosted” made me cringe. No wonder it always makes me think “grandma polish” because it’s what our grandmothers wore.

I know we’ve talked about old nail polishes in the past but do any of you have a vintage bottle like this?  Not necessarily something you would wear but just hang on to as part of your collection?

I landed in NYC bright and early this morning to gloomy skies & wind but even with no sleep I’m a ball of energy because it’s Fashion Week!!

I dropped my bag at my hotel and pretty much ran stright to Lincoln Center to cover backstage at Ruffian. The nails were insane! Another hit moon manicure from CND. Details to follow.

Ever since UK nail queen Sophy Robson posted a sneak peek at the CHANEL Les Khakis De Chanel collection colors, I’ve been DYING to get some sort of official word regarding their launch. What Sophy originally dubbed the “camouflage collection” is a set of three military shades debuting as a limited edition launch for Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th!

Visit the Chanel Boutique on Spring Street to get a complimentary manicure with one of the Les Khakis De Chanel shades or stop by the Madison Avenue boutique which will be selling the collection as well.

In celebration of Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, has created LES KHAKIS DE CHANEL, a collection of three Le Vernis Nail Colours. Ultra sophisticated shades Khaki Rose, Khaki Brun and Khaki Vert can be worn alone or combined for an urban chic camouflage effect.

The Les Khakis De Chanel collection launches on September 10th, 2010.  It will be available at CHANEL boutiques, CHANEL.com and select department stores for $25.00/bottle.

You KNOW I’m all over Khaki Vert but I’m excited to see how they’ll look paired together.  I’m already thinking up some fun way to wear all three while I’m in NYC for FNO.  Which colors are you excited to see?  Will any of my NYC Fanatics be out and about for FNO? Do you think these colors will get the same attention as last year’s FNO color Jade?

We just dropped by the NYX booth at Cosmoprof and spotted the newish NYX Girls line. The old Girls line is discontinued and they have relaunched with new packing and an expanded color range.  The polishes are available now on NYXCosmetics.com

Coming soon from Color Club/Art Club are these nail decals, called Glam, that are along the lines of Minx but way cooler.  The designs are on a clear background so you can apply them over polish and have the color show through. 

According to the rep I spoke with, you simply apply them and add a top coat.  They last until you take them off with remover.  The plaid and metallic animals prints have me intrigued.  I’m normally not a nail art girl but this looks easy enough that even a klutz like me could do it.

Congratulations to my pal Tracey from GingerKittyDesigns whose Etsy shop was featured in the August issue of Nails Magazine! Nails did a feature on Etsy stores that sell nail related crafts, perfect for resale in salons or as a gift for the nail tech/fanatic in your life.  If you click on the article (left) you can read the full size version with Tracey’s jewelry pictured on the side. The other stores that made the list are Sweetheartville, SavDesigns by Vrjinika, The Bohemian Gypsy, Claychicks Boutique and Scentful Indulgence Bath & Body Boutique. I actually bought a nail themed business card holder from The Bohemian Gypsy and it arrived today.  So cute!

Last year I shared Tracey’s unique line of nail polish jewelry and I’m so happy to see getting the attention it so deserves.  Tracey brilliantly came up with the idea of encapsulating nail polish in a pendant and since then she has expanded into rings and earrings and started incorporating trends like water marbling into her craft.

A fellow nail polish fanatic and collector, Tracey has amassed quite a selection of colors to choose from and can customize any of her designs to your liking. If you haven’t stopped by her shop and picked up a piece for yourself or the Fanatic in your life, it’s time you do so!

As a member of the Total Beauty Blogging Community I am regularly updated about new features on TotalBeauty.com. More often than not they aren’t nail related but this one struck me as interesting. There are a LOT of drugstore nail polishes that made their reader reviewed Top 10. Being that I don’t have a ton of luck with most drugstore brands I found this surprising. What do you think?
