opi-burlesque-holiday-2010-glitter-nail-polish OPI partnered with the upcoming film Burlesque, starring Cher & Christina Aguilera, to create a set of blingtastic Holiday shades and six of the twelve polishes are all glitters.

No doubt the madness that the Alice In Wonderland glitters caused played a role in this collection’s creation.  To this day I still get emails from readers trying to locate Mad As A Hatter and Absolutely Alice.  Hopefully their needs will be satisfied with the OPI Burlesque Collection.

I don’t know how many of you are movie musical fans but I am a proud fan so I’m definitely excited to see Burlesque.  The mere fact that ALU Mom ingrained a love for Cher into me from birth is enough to get me in the theater regardless of who else is billed though I do think Christina Aguilera is extremely talented.  I am sure the film’s music style will suit her voice quite well.

opi-burlesque-holiday-2010 This holiday, OPI hits a high note with the release of Sony Pictures’ upcoming film Burlesque. With an all-star cast including Cher and Christina Aguilera, this musical written and directed by Steven Antin opens nationwide in theaters on November 24, 2010.

OPI’s Holiday 2010 collection marks the third film collaboration for the brand this year.  Following up the sell out successes of Alice In Wonderland and Shrek, the Burlesque lineup is sure to follow suit.  This year OPI has flipped the script by forgoing their usual six reds in varying finishes to give us six shimmers in warm metallics, a vampy plum and some more traditional reds.

“OPI is thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems on this exciting movie release,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The colors were modeled off the majestic glamour, over-the-top costumes and mesmerizing Cabaret that are typically seen in Burlesque performances. The resulting bright, dazzling shades are perfect for the holiday season.”

opi swiss collection fall 2010 bottles part 2 So today I have the second half of the OPI Swiss collection for you.  Like the backdrop for the white cross on the Swiss flag we’re in all red territory.

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you to hear that the idea of doing an all red post doesn’t exactly jazz me.  It’s just never been my color.  I have a few staple reds that I turn to again and again but overall it’s just not my bag.

However, because I know there are people as fanatical about reds as I am about greens I wanted to share them with you.  And because the formula of all six of these polishes is so stellar, I actually liked a couple of them enough to add them to my stash.  Curious about which ones I gave high marks? Read on to find out!

OPI Swiss Collection for Fall 2010 – Part 1 Swatches & Review

opi swiss collection for fall 2010 bottles part 1 Outside of the movie Heidi, which has been remade way too many times, watches, banks and the Swiss Alps, I admittedly know very little about Switzerland. Which is why when I heard that OPI was releasing a collection based on the country I was skeptical as to what it would consist of.

Of course the OPI Swiss preview pics didn’t do these colors justice.  Why the large bottle images continue to look like artist renderings is beyond me.  Clearly they have a decent photographer to take the display shots, they should being shooting the closeups as well.

Anywho, about the colors.  I will admit that I was a wee bit disappointed to find that half of the collection is in the red family but reds are still a big seller in spite of a growing number of Fanatics making the more unique shades mainstream.  At least OPI has been recognizing this and in the Swiss collection we have been appeased with six shades from the blue, green, purple and metallic color families and that’s what I chose to focus on first.

Out Of The Blue – A Multi-Colored Ombre Manicure

gradation-manicure-ombre-effect-blue-multi-colored-nails This weekend I’m headed to Sandusky, Ohio, home of the world’s greatest amusement park, Cedar Point.  And I’m not just saying that because I worked there and it’s in my home state. The park has been awarded that title nine times in a row.  With 17 roller coasters, it’s a thrill seeker’s nirvana.

The reason for my trip, a mini-reunion with some of my friends I used to work with back in the day.  Seriously, if you know any college students looking for a summer job, this is the place.  It’s so much fun.  They recruit from all over the world and provide housing.  It’s like college without all the books and classes.

Anywho, I wanted to do something fun with my nails and ever since I first tried an Ombre Multi-Colored Manicure, I’ve been meaning to do it again.  Only this time, instead of mixing my colors, I chose to use five existing shades to create the effect.
