I have no doubt that the 300+ Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish fans who submitted ideas for the fan collection have been stalking the RBL Facebook page and Blog for news of the finalists.  For everyone else, I thought I’d let you know that Ji will be posting her selections tomorrow and voting will begin.

The voting period will only last for 48 hours so don’t  miss out on your chance to have a say in which color concepts Ji will bring to life.  I don’t know about you but I’m dying to see what she chose and what the amazingly creative nail community came up with.

Good luck to those who entered!  I really hope some ALU fans make the short list.  If your color is chosen, I hope you’ll comment here and let us know.

CND at New York Fashion Week – Day 3 Giveaway

Day 3 of New York Fashion Week was my first official day of covering backstage. I started out bright and early at my can’t miss show, Diego Binetti. I’ve gushed over and over again about how Diego “gets” nails and how each season the combination of his inspiration joined with the creativity of Jan Arnold and the entire CND team continues to amaze me. This season is no different.

I walked backstage and was greeted with a, “Are you ready to die?” and that was all I needed to hear. I knew it was on. Game. Set. Match. CND!

Get The Look – Lady Gaga’s Yellow Nails At The 2011 Grammys

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards took place tonight and even though I was out to dinner during the majority of the show, I knew there was some MAJOR nail news happening when I saw Deborah Lippmann tweet, “I Polished @ladygaga tonight and as they closed the coffin she said I love my nails!”

Yesterday when I was backstage at ADAM I had the pleasure of meeting Deborah’s other half, Jude, who revealed that she was at the Grammys and working with someone huge.  Of course when I saw Deb tweet about my seeing Barbra Streisand that’s exactly where my mind went but I couldn’t be more off base.  Deb tended to the tips of the one and only Lady Gaga and lacquered her up with a bright yellow manicure.  But what is this mystery color?

Now, I don’t know about you but I’ve never seen a yellow in the Deborah Lippmann line before. Well, get ready people because we’re going to. I got the scoop straight from Deb that she’s launching Yellow Brick Road in April 2011 and it’s a JELLY!! Put me on the first tornado to Oz because I’m all in on Yellow Brick Road.  So while you can’t exactly get the look NOW, you can soon.

What do you think of Gaga’s nails?  Are on board with Yellow Brick Road?  What was your favorite performance from the Grammys?

I heard Gwenyth Paltrow sang with Cee-Lo, that had to be good.  I can’t wait to get home on Tuesday and watch it all, including the E! pre-show.  Seriously, who ever made the mistake of letting the Grammys occur during New York Fashion Week is NOT my friend.

Runway or Everyday? – butter LONDON’s Nail Polish Rings at Vena Cava

Last season we saw nails elevated from accessories to full on jewelry at Diego Binetti. This season at Vena Cava, butter LONDON‘s Nonie Creme is pushing the boundaries, bringing nail polish to a whole new territory; skin.  That’s right, she’s taking over “real estate” from the skin and by creating jewelry with nail polish applied directly on fingers.

Nail art savant Melissa from The Daily Nail has extended her designs on to the skin in the past but this is the first time I’ve seen the actual nails ignored entirely.  Nonie applied “finger bands” of color to two fingers on each model, some single, some double, and a simple coat of clear Hard Wear top coat to the nails.

To replicate the look follow Nonie’s tips: Start with clean, dry skin.  Swipe with remover.  Start below the first knuckle.  Only paint a few fingers or else it will look too tribal. Allow 15 minutes to dry and expect 24 hours of wear.

Get the Vena Cava look using butter LONDON Royal Navy, Scoundrel, Tramp Stamp, and Union Jack Black. The orange, Flouro Orange, is not yet in production.  butter LONDON polishes retail for $14/ea and are available online at butterLONDON.com and Beauty.com.

My question to you is… is this look runway only or something that could be worn in the everyday world?  Would you apply nail polish on your skin on purpose?  What do you think of the “finger bands” look?

CND at New York Fashion Week – Day 2 Giveaway

CND turned it out on Day 2 of New York Fashion Week working with heavy hitting, nail loving designers Jason Wu and Ruffian.  They continue to step up to their game with Ruffian’s signature moon manicure, topping themselves with a new twist on the look.

Today’s manicures were tuxedo formal, gilded burgundy, minty green, and brushed copper. Long, almond shaped nails at Ruffian and Jason Wu elongated fingers and made models look even slimmer than normal! From head to nail, runway looks were dressed up and extravagant.

The looks were so varied and strong that it made choosing a favorite quite a challenge. Read on to see if I succumbed to the power green or if nail art ruled the day.
