Iggy Azalea Fancy Plaid Nail Art Tutorial

I don’t know any girl who has watched Clueless and not coveted Cher Horowitz’s closet and computerized “Dress Me” program. I know I still do. Clearly, Iggy Azalea is with me as her video for “Fancy” is a tribute to the classic 90s film.

One of the songs of the summer, I may or may not play “Fancy” on repeat when I’m working from home. And Iggy’s recreation of Cher’s famous yellow plaid skirt and jacket inspired me to try my hand at plaid nail art.

Looking for a great summer read? This one is perfect for all us nail fanatics! Nails – The Story of the Modern Manicure by Suzanne E. Shapiro documents the evolution of nails throughout the centuries. It’s beautifully written with gorgeous photography and imagery to tell the tale of how nail adornment began and its impact on culture.

A personally thrilling moment was when Suzanne asked to include All Lacquered Up in the book. She contacted me over a year ago so I’m even more excited to see the finished product and be a part of it. And now you have a chance to win a copy of your very own, along with a limited edition nail polish created to celebrate the launch, OPI Switchboard Starlet.

PC or MAC? Android or iPhone? In the world of pop, the big debate has always been Coke or Pepsi? Remember the taste wars of the 80s? For me, it’s always been Coke. And yes, this Ohio girl says “pop.”

I remember going to Atlanta for a work trip and geeking out over Coca-Cola paraphernalia. You should see the amount of Coke glassware, barware and signage in my house. It’s a “bit” much. So, you can imagine how excited I was to hear that OPI partnered with Coca-Cola on a nine piece nail polish collection, Coca-Cola by OPI, inspired by the brand’s lineup soft drinks.

OPI Damone Roberts 1968 re-release - Summer 2014

During last week’s #NailGlossip chat, we discussed our fave discontinued and VHTF shades and Kellie Gonzo mentioned missing out on OPI Damone Roberts 1968. The mint green shade was created exclusively for the Eyebrow King to match the walls of his Beverly Hills salon.

As a subscriber to the Damone Roberts newsletter, I learned a couple weeks ago that the shade is making a return this summer and he announced it publicly on his Instagram/Twitter yesterday.

See swatches and comparisons of the shade HERE and make sure you’re following Damone Roberts for more information about the actual release date and sales information.

Last time around, the polish was also listed in the Damone Roberts Amazon Store so keep your eye on that as well.

OPI MLB Nail Polish Collection Spring 2014

Yesterday was the Cleveland Indians home opener and, in spite of the rain delays, wind and overall crazy weather, they managed to pull out a major win over the Twins. Now, because I suffer enough with weather during Browns season, I never go to opening day at The Jake (sorry Progressive), but I cheer from home with #RollTribe pride.

Fortunately, the new OPI MLB Collection arrived a few days ago, just in time for me to create some Indians-themed nail art. Partnering with a sports league is a first for OPI and these seven new shades scream Americana, just like our national pastime.
