Last September I had the pleasure of meeting famed Celebrity Manicurist Lisa Logan backstage at the Chris Benz fashion show in NYC. Lisa is Beyonce’s manicurist among others and I was geeked to meet her. At the show Lisa was using a bold purple nail polish that caught my eye and I’ve been dying to get my hands on it ever since.
The color is Violet Groove from the Lancôme Spring 2011 collection, Ultra-Lavande. The collection of purples and pinks also includes Le 54, a sheer lavender glitter polish, and together they make one killer combo. Keep reading to see for yourself. |

The Estee Lauder Holiday 2010 collection is filled with rich golds and reds that sound like your typical holiday fare but thanks to Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux, these traditional shades were given a glamorous twist.
“Fantasy, luxury and of course femininity were my inspirations for this Holiday collection. There are many lip and eye colors to play with and they all have a wonderful texture for an easy application.” Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder
It’s been a while since an Estee Lauder nail polish has really grabbed me but Extravagant Night brings a sultry party to the nails. And its pale gold counterpart, Extravagant Pearl, is the shade we saw gracing the Derek Lam runway just last month at New York Fashion Week. |

Every season at NYFW I look forward to the Binetti show because there is always something happening on the nails and this year it was all about the Cocktail Ring Nail. Diego Binetti appreciates and understands the importance nails play in a woman’s overall look and he looks to the creative mind of CND’s Jan Arnold to bring his inspiration to life. As in season’s past, the nails at Binetti incorporate nail art and new, unique layering combinations from the CND Colour & Effects line including one combo that stopped me in my tracks.

My week in NYC was such a whirlwind that I’m still processing it all. It goes by in a flash and then I’m standing at the airport with a camera full of images and no clue what I saw. It always takes me a few days after I get back to decompress and put all the pieces together.
So while I’m compiling my backstage coverage, I thought I’d share some pics from the rest of my trip. You know, those hours when I’m not crammed in a tiny space with every beauty blogger, editor, model, makeup artist, hairstylist, manicurist and publicist in NYC. A lot happens in those off hours including a few reality star sightings, meet-ups with friends and fun nights out. |

Initially there wasn’t going to be a Day 7 in my NYFW NOTD Challenge. Even though I was in NYC for seven days I purposely didn’t schedule any shows or meetings for the last day so I could wander the city. Every time I go to NYC for blog business I pack my schedule so full I never have time to just explore and I made sure to leave time for that on this trip.
Then I got a call from my pal, Celebrity Manicurist Elle, on Day 6 inviting me to come visit her on a photo shoot. You don’t have to ask me twice. Naturally I was curious to check out her kit and see what she brings to a shoot. While I was there, Elle offered to give me a manicure and I couldn’t pass that up. When she started dragging out her Nfu Ohs and playing with different layering combos I knew I was in for something fun. Check it! |
