A quick check of my DVR will reveal that I’m a reality TV junkie, especially competition shows that require actual talent. That’s why the nail fanatic in me is excited to watch Nail’d It!premiering October 7th at 9/8c only on Oxygen.

It’s the first nail art competition show, hosted by Adrian Bailon, featuring up and coming nail artists and an all-star judging panel, including CND Co-Founder Jan Arnold, Celebrity MAN-icurist Tom Bachik and “The Nail Villian” and Celebrity Nail Stylist, Terrance Terry.

To give you an idea of what’s in store, I have a clip from a “Quick Dry Challenge” for you with some sick nail designs. Check it out!

JINsoon Tess Giberson Collection for Fall 2014 Swatches & Review

JINsoon Tess Giberson Fall 2014 via @AllLacqueredUp

JINsoon X Tess Giberson

As New York Fashion Week begins, I can’t help but lament not being there. Mainly because of all the genius beauty gurus and writer friends I get to see when covering backstage. Jin Soon Choi is one of those people because she is an arbiter of nail fashion and one of the warmest, friendliest people you will ever meet.

So, while I sit here in Cleveland, watching the action from afar, I take some joy in wearing Jin’s latest collection, a fashion collaboration, JINsoon Tess Giberson for Fall 2014. Jin has a knack for delivering finishes that are unique and interesting yet understated and this collection is no exception.

Are You Done With Nail Art? #WeAreDone

Busy Philipps is Done With Nail Art #WeAreDone

Have you heard The Madden Brothers tune, “We Are Done?” The song with the 60s vibe has spawned an internet sensation of people posting signs of what they are done with, using #WeAreDone Some of them have been really inspirational, especially from young girls saying things like, “Done with being underestimated” or “Done with being afraid.”

On that note, I was watching #Undone with Amanda de Cadenet, you may remember her from Brokedown Palace or her previous Lifetime series The Conversation, and she had Joel Madden and Busy Philipps as guests. When the topic of #WeAreDone came up, she asked Busy what she is done with and you can see her response above.

Now I follow Busy on Twitter and Instagram, I have adored her since Freaks & Geeks and am an avid Cougar Town fan, so I know she has forayed into the world of nail art. In fact, she uses the same nail artist as Kelly Osbourne. So her answer surprised me but her reasoning made sense. She simply stated that it takes too much time. And as a mom of two kids, one an infant, I’m sure her time is precious.

But it begs the question, are you done with nail art? I know it’s been riding high the past few years but how long can it continue? I’ve also noticed other celeb nail art fanatics toning it down of late. Is the massive nail art trend dying out? I know there will always be fans but is it declining, in general?

NOTD – L’Oreal Neons Punchy Lychee Dotticure

L’Oreal Punchy Lychee and Rimmel BritPop

This bright dotticure was inspired by the little girls who live on my street. A couple of them like to pop by when the boyfriend and I are dining on our deck and they’ve become fascinated with my nail polish room and constantly changing manicures. In fact, one held her arms out wide and declared, “Your obsession is this big,” when looking into my office. She’s totally right, ha!

Anyway, last night they came over and I invited them in to see all the Helmer drawers of color, swatch wheels and random nonsense in my room. And together, they decided that my nails needed polka dots in these two colors so I went with it. The 4-year-old who LOVES pink, as most little girls do, was adamant that this new L’Oreal Colour Riche shade go on my nails.

I used the L’Oreal Neons shade, Punchy Lychee, with Rimmel LONDON Salon Pro shade, BritPop, for the dots. And even though Punchy Lychee is more orange-coral than pink-coral, as the bottle color inferred, I love this combo and may need to consult with them from now on. I mean, I have the same taste in music as the 10-year-old, so, why not?

What’s on your nails today? Have you tried the L’Oreal Neons or new Rimmel Salon Pro formula?
