As a woman, a daughter and a friend I am taking a stand for Breast Cancer Awareness by supporting Living Beyond Breast Cancer with my annual Comments For A Cure campaign.

Comments For A Cure started out in 2007 as a grassroots effort to support a fellow Beauty Blog Network member who was diagnosed with cancer.  I have taken it upon myself to continue supporting the cause here on ALU.

To brighten this gloomy, rainy Friday and keep the BCA Month spirit alive at ALU HQ, I’m burning the Altru Appreciation Collection Aromatic Incense. My roommate always had one going. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support The Beauty Blog Network is launching its 2nd Comments For A Cure campaign. All Lacquered Up is proud to be participating once again.

Founded in June 2007, Comments For A Cure raises funds for cancer research and awareness. We come together as a community to help fight cancer and show support for our fellow bloggers, families and friends who have been affected by cancer.

How it works: Over a three day period, participating BBN bloggers will donate to their selected cancer charity based on the comments they receive from readers like you. On behalf of All Lacquered Up, I will be donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. From October 22-24, I will donate $1 per comment received, on any ALU post, up to a maximum of $150.

The Beauty Blog Network is more than just a great group of beauty blogs. It also is a group of bloggers, that support and encourage one another.

At no other time is this more apparent than right now. After hearing that a few of our Network members are currently dealing with the news that they have cancer, our Network decided to join together and take a stand.

We are joining together as a group to contribute and donate to cancer charities as an effort to show awareness and to help.

I hope you will join us. As they say, beauty is not just skin deep…This will truly be a contribution from our hearts…

June 4-6th, 2007 - On these dates, all participating network blogs will be writing a blog post for “Comments for a Cancer Cure”. The amount of comments posted during these days, will count towards the dollar amount that will be donated to the cancer charity of their choice.

The charity I chose to support is the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation identifies and supports extraordinary young scientists across the nation who are committed to discovering the causes and cures for cancer.

In addition to the money raised during the comment weekend, on June 10th there will be charity auctions held on eBay through Mission Fish including a Beauty Goodie Bag Auction loaded with beauty products generously donated by our PR and beauty contacts. All Lacquered Up is auctioning a nail fanatic’s gift basket filled with the hottest polishes from this year’s collections and an assortment our favorite nail treatments and accessories. Pictures and links to this auction will be posted closer to the launch date.
