Fall 2013 Nail Trends at Saks Fifth Avenue Beachwood

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of hosting an event at Saks Fifth Avenue Beachwood. The focus was Fall 2013 Nail Trends and I had a blast. I loved meeting other Cleveland nail polish fanatics and talking fall nail color.  To the readers and fellow bloggers who came out from behind the screen to say hi, thank you for coming. It was wonderful putting a face with a name.

We enjoyed bubbles, ridiculously good nail polish-shaped cookies from Bon Bon, hand and arm massages from Jo Malone and nail polish changes from local manicurists.

On top of that, I put together a nail trend display featuring nail colors sold at Saks. You may not normally think Saks when shopping for nail polish but, they have all the familiar prestige and luxury brands plus some you don’t normally see, like Tom Ford, Armani and Le Metier de Beaute.

Chanel Summer 2013 – Azuré, Bel-Argus & Lilis Le Vernis Swatches & Review

Inspired by butterflies (Papillon in French), Chanel Makeup Artist Peter Philips created a summer makeup collection of gold, pink, aqua, blue and coral that has a touch of whimsy and fantasy. As part of L’Eté Papillon de Chanel, he has included three new shades of Le Vernis to tempt our wallets.

Maybe, like me, you’re thinking, one of these things is not like the other. Pairing a creamy summer staple, coral, with two bold metallics in non-traditional hues seems unconventional for Chanel. Their nail color collections tend to be similar in finish and tonal range. Let’s see how they work together.

Treat Yo’ Self – Chanel Taboo Le Vernis Review, Swatch and Comparisons

As Tom and Donna from Parks and Recreation say, Treat Yo’ Self Day is the, “Best Day Of Year!” It’s a day to splurge on the those things that are outside your normal budget; facials, designer handbags, totally impractical shoes, expensive meals, etc. Since that episode aired, every time I go to make an extravagant purchase and question whether I REALLY need it, I hear Tom in my head saying, “Michelle, treat yo’ self!”

You see, I was raised a frugal barganista (thanks Mom!) so it takes a lot for something to be worth its full price tag. In this new series I’ll be sharing the nail polishes and products that I are consider fitting of a Treat Yo’ Self Day indulgence.

Even though I’ve been avoiding dark nail polishes this spring, I could not escape the mystical allure of Chanel Taboo.

The Nubar Jeans collection is finally on sale and I’m sure, like me, you are curious about how this collection compares to the now sold out Chanel Les Jeans de Chanel collection so I put together a quick video for you while I work on proper comparison swatches. Enjoy!

The Nubar Jeans collection is available now online at ByNubar.com. The set of three nail polishes retail for $19.99.

What are your initial thoughts on the two collections? If you splurged on the Chanel Les Jeans polishes do you feel they are worth it? If you held out, do you plan to pick up the Nubar set?

Chanel Shade Parade – Watch Your Favorite Chanel Nail Polishes Dance

This Chanel Shade Parade video has been getting quite a bit of buzz and couldn’t resist sharing. It’s so quirky and unexpected for Chanel that I can’t help but love it.

What’s interesting is a contestant in the Sally Hansen PopTent Video Contest that I judged submitted their version of a Sally Hansen Salon Effects commercial with walking fingers, only they were strutting a catwalk, not kicking up their heels in dance.

At the end the “credits” list the 18 Chanel Le Vernis nail polish colors used in the video and I actually have a lot of them, 14 to be exact. How many do you own?
