Sally Hansen Spring 2015 – Prabal Gurung Swatches & Review

Sallly Hansen X Prabal Gurung Spring 2015

For the ninth consecutive season, Prabal Gurung has collaborated with Sally Hansen to create a set of nail polishes representative of his runway collection. The Sally Hansen Spring 2015 Prabal Gurung Collection is inspired by, “the global traveler and a Himalayan trek at dusk, as well as the work of artist Tara Donovan.” Check out the three limited-edition shades below.

Formula & Application

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish is 5-Free (Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). The formula is designed to serve as base coat, color and top coat. Plus it packs in ingredients to help promote growth, strength, extended wear and high shine. The claim is a 10-day wear and as I’ve shown in the past (click here), it lives up to that.

The hefty glass bottles are topped with a smooth chrome cap that has a rubberized grip around the base. The grip makes opening the bottle easier and keeps the brush from slipping while polishing. The flat, curved brush is attached to a long paddle that needs to be wiped to avoid drips. Note: I believe the bristles have changed because they are softer and easier to press and fan out without worry of dragging the polish. I noticed this with the other spring CSM releases as well.

All three cremes in this collection have a smooth, buttery application with decent pigmentation. I did need three coats with Kashmir Valley, which seems to happen more often with corals, but the others only needed two coats.

Sally Hansen X Prabal Gurung Swatches

Sally Hansen Kashmir Valley is a pink-y coral creme with a ripe peach undertone. It’s bright yet feminine, like a creamy lipstick for your nails. Its tone falls between Morgan Taylor My Carriage Awaits and NCLA I Only Fly Private, and makes butter LONDON Trout Pout look positively pink in comparison.

Sally Hansen King of Shadows is a mid-range iris purple creme. It’s cooler than OPI Planks a Lot and darker than OPI You’re Such a Budapest, and unique to my collection.

Sally Hansen Teesta Turquoise is a bright turquoise creme. It walks a fine line in that it is a pretty true turquoise, not leaning green or blue. It’s a touch deeper than butter LONDON Artful Dodger and not as blue as Essie In The Cab-ana.

Bottom Line: These whole collection is so me. The colors are beautiful and scream spring/summer. They’re of great quality and I dig the new brush. I would say that King of Shadows is the most unique, but I can’t resist a fab blue or green, so Teesta Turquoise grabbed my heart.

The Sally Hansen Spring 2015 Prabal Gurung colors are available now at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. I haven’t spotted them on shelves but Curly Comedy found a display that includes the other designer shades, and some I’ve not heard of.

Which of the Prabal shades do you plan to hunt down? Have you spotted them in stores? Where? And what kind of display were they in?

  3. Hayley says:

I just saw the purple and coral one! They had them in a display with lots of other LE so I had no idea they specifically different!

  4. Mary says:

I’m a sucker for purple so definitely getting King of Shadows.

i find all 3 to be gorgeous!

  6. Craftynail says:

this trio is pretty ! i would gladly wear all three this spring ~

  7. Amanda says:

Man, I like ALL of them, including that coral, and coral isn’t usually a shade I gravitate towards. My only hangup is the price, which is funny since I can’t get enough Zoyas. LOL Plus my local Freddies usually but not always has the Sally Hansen’s on sale. I’ll have to give in and grab one. :)

BTW, welcome back! I’ve missed your posts this last week or so! I was worried that you might be feeling under the weather.

  8. I love those shades! It’s really strange, but a handful of the Salon Manicure polishes never, ever cure on my nails, no matter how careful I am with thin layers and the such! I know they are a super popular line so it bums me out that it happens.

  9. Jacky says:

I love your swatches, and one of my favorite parts is that you always have a comparison with other similar colors, many of which I have. That helps me SO much! Thank you!

  10. Stephanie says:

Funny, at first glance I was like eh…then I saw them on, especially the blue and purple, nice! I already like SH brushes as I have wide flat nails so its less brushing I have to do for good coverage (aka less streaky for me than say, Zoya and Essie, although I manage for some of thier unique shades, lol) so I’ll be grabbing those 2 for sure if I find them! Thanks :)

  11. Thanks for the shout-out! I asked myself if Teesta is close to Essie’s new spring turquoise Blossom Dandy, but next to In the Cabana I’m guessing it is much darker than Blossom Dandy. I want to marry your side-by-side comparison swatches I love them so much.

  12. These are so gorgeous!!! That coral color is to die for!! I can see some gorgeous water color and water marble manis with these!!

  13. keisha says:

Oh, that Kashmir Valley is everything I was hoping my bottle of SH’s Get Juiced would be but isn’t quite. I hope I can find it somewhere!

    • I hope you can too, Keisha! Good luck with the hunt. You might want to check Drugstore.com or Target.com. They sometimes have the seasonal colors online.

  14. Katie says:

Do you think that Kashmir Valley is a dupe for Revlon Top Speed Peachy?
