Chanel Spring 2014 Eye Makeup Tutorial 1

Even though I’ve been friends with Brooke from Blushing Noir for a while now, I didn’t actually meet her until last October when we went #Nailgating at the Browns vs Steelers game and I instantly fell in like with her sassy, spunky personality. Though she’s a terrible enabler and I fear the day we hit the Saks beauty department together. Actually, my wallet does.

One of the things I admire about Brooke as a beauty girl is her eye shadow blending skill. Like the black and gold eye she created for the game was GORGEOUS. So when I asked her to contribute a guest post, I requested she show me a new spring eye look and she hit it out of the park. Check it!

Get The Look

Chanel Spring 2014 Eye Makeup Tutorial 1

1 – Begin with a clean, bare eye

2 – Apply a primer/base. With a firm brush (I used a MAC 239) apply Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Silk Eyeshadow in 30 Rose Popillia. This shadow was limited edition, so you could substitute in the Chanel Impulsion Illusion D’Ombre Luminous Eye Shadow (Spring 2014) or go drugstore with L’Oreal Always Pearly Pink Infallible® 24 HR Eye Shadow ($7.99, Drugstore.com).

3 – Taking the Chanel Lumieres Facettes Quadra Eye Shadow in Quadrille (Spring 2014) apply the top left shade to your crease with a crease brush (I used a MAC 226), concentrating the color more towards the outer part of the eye and bringing it in toward the inner corners. You want more of the color at the outside of the eye lid area.

4 – Using the same firm brush you used in step 2, apply the bottom left shade from Chanel Quadrille all over the lid.

5 – Using the same firm brush from steps 2 & 4 flip it over to the unused side and apply the bottom right shade of Chanel Quadrille to the outer V area of the lid, crease and a bit on the lash line.

6 – Taking the same crease brush used in step 3 pick up more of the bottom right shade in Chanel Quadrille and blend over top of the same color that you applied in step 5.

7 – Grab a new, soft, angled brush (such as a MAC 275) and take the top right shade of Chanel Quadrille and dab the shade into the inner corners of the eye, lightly blending in towards the center of the lid. Using the same brush pick up more of this shade and apply it starting at the brow bone, blending downward and into the crease color to soften the line.

To finish up use a raisin colored shade like MAC Fluidline in Past Twilight to line the eyes with on the top and bottom.

Then, apply your most voluminous mascara. To get my lashes to where I like them to be I like to layer formulas, so I start with one coat of Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant and top it off with Too Faced Better Than Sex.

I also like to dab a bit of the shade I used to highlight the eye under the lower lash line to brighten up the look. If you’re going for a smokier effect you can use the bottom right shade of Quadrille and blend to deepen the look or transition it from day to night.

I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait to try this look myself. I love the depth she achieved and how the pink doesn’t overwhelm the eye. Is this something you will try at home?
