When word first came out that OPI was partnering with Gwen Stefani, this image of Gwen was all over the web. You couldn’t get away from it. And I couldn’t get her hot pink and black nail art out of my head. So today, I’m giving the look a whirl using Hey Baby and 4 In The Morning from the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection.

For my version of Gwen’s look, I decided to reverse the colors, allowing 4 In The Morning to be on top and dry flat. I like the contrast between glossy and satin and as long as you can paint a relatively straight line, it’s pretty easy to do free hand.

Yes, you can pull out the masking tape to ensure clean lines but I was having a very, “ain’t nobody got time for that!” kind of day.

What do you think of my version of Gwen’s nail art design? Is this something you would try? How would you change things up?

The Gwen Stefani for OPI nail polish collection is available now at salons and mass retailers nationwide including ULTA stores and ULTA.com. OPI nail polish retails for $9/ea for a .5oz bottle.

I love it! I love the black ontop of the pink instead of the pink on the black.

That’s so pretty! I really like the contrast between the colors and textures.

  5. DEBBIE BELL says:

I like it!! I’am like you…I like the contrast & it looks great! But as for me.. free handed drawing a straight line..lol..won’t happen! I ordered the OPI Gwen set in mini’s…can’t wait to get it:)

  6. Jenni says:

I actually think I like your version better than OPI’s. Plus it’s probably easier putting black over pink than pink over black.

  7. Stephanie Smith says:

I really like this! I don’t like a lot of nail art, but this is clever and eye catching and not fussy. Excellent job!

  8. Rhea says:

    I love the colour combination!

Love this look! I purchased these two colours yesterday (along with Love.Angel.Music.Baby.) and I cannot wait to get them on my nails!
