Makeup Wars - Holiday Eye featuring Urban Decay Naked 3

When it comes to special occasion makeup, I tend to rely on a smokey eye as evidenced by my Jump Back Ball looks (here and here). So when the latest Makeup Wars challenge called for a Holiday Eye look, I decided to buck tradition by opting for soft and shimmery, featuring the new Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, offset by a bold lip. Check it out!

To create this soft shimmery eye and bold lip, I used Urban Decay Naked 3 ($52, Sephora.com), Urban Decay Naked 2 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil ($16, UrbanDecay.com), COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume Mascara ($11.99, Walgreens.com), MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick ($16.50) and Pro Longwear Lip Pencil ($21.50).

The specific shades I used from Naked 3 are: Dust, Limit, Burnout, Trick and Liar.

I started with a base of Urban Decay Primer Potion and swept Limit over the entire eye as a neutral, matte background to work off of. Having Limit as a backdrop helped the shimmery shades show up without needing a ton of product layered on the eye.

I then applied Burnout to the inner half of my lid, Trick to the outer half with Liar in the crease. I blended them all together using Dust to give it an overall ethereal shimmer. I used Dust on my lower lash line as well, after a applying Perversion liner to my waterline and upper lash line.

A couple coats of COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume Mascara and my look is complete.

Finally, to complete the overall holiday party look, I added a cool, matte red lip using MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick over RiRi Woo Pro Longwear Lip Pencil.

I love the whole look on you! This is my preferred eye look for every day. I have Naked 3 and will try these combos. Usually I wear only 2 shades at a time, but the additional 2 shades add so much depth and interest. I love the lipstick color on you, but with my skin tone, I can’t wear *bright* reds.

I’m new to your blog and am enjoying it very much. Do you have a tutorial on applying lip liner? I’ve never used one, although I recently bought a nude color from the Sephora Collection, but I don’t know how to use it, lol! (I’m pretty fair and prefer either a nude lip color, or one that’s just a bit darker than my natural lips.)

Thanks again for a great blog, and Happy Holidays!
