Bye Bye Google Reader, Hello Bloglovin!

Happy Monday Fanatics! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent mine around the house, enjoying time on our deck, grilling out and helping supervising the boyfriend smoke ribs for Father’s Day at my parents’ house.

If you’re a longtime user of Google Reader, like I am, I have no doubt the news about Google discontinuing the service came as quite a shock followed by major disappointment. Since the announcement a couple months ago, I’ve been testing different options that would allow me to read my favorite sites on my desktop, tablet and phone (I’m #TeamAndroid but not anti-Apple).

I’ve finally settled on Bloglovin as my reader of choice and wanted to share that as my favorite option for those of you forced off Google Reader. And Google Friend Connect users, get prepared to be next.

All Lacquered Up on Bloglovin

To make life easier, Bloglovin can import your Google Reader list (CLICK HERE) and it opens blog posts on the actual blog so you can comment AND continue paging through your blog list. So genius. Plus there are apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

So make sure you can still get your ALU fix come July when Google Reader says goodbye. Follow All Lacquered Up on Bloglovin. Or if, you just can’t quit Google, ALU is on Google+ as well.

    What about Feedly?

I tried Feedly and it certainly has a pretty UI but the app is so big and was pretty buggy on my phone. I like the clean look of Bloglovin

    • Leigh says:

Feedly is AMAZING. It’s super intuitive and very easy to use. The perk for bloggers with Blog Lovin is that they can still get pageviews, etc. – which they wouldn’t get with Feedly.

Thanks for sharing this information with us, I`ll surely try Bloglovin, waiting for new updates

I love Bloglovin. I even downloaded the app for my android phone. It’s such a great way to keep up with everything and all the blogs I follow, I even added you a long time ago.

  4. It stinks that so many good follower/reader sites/services are being discontinued. I had a good chunk of followers on HelloCotton, which unexpectedly closed. If my GFC followers don’t switch I’ll be even worse off! =(
I can say that I’m enjoying Bloglovin’ more now than I did when I first started using it 1-2 years ago, it seems to have improved. Hopefully it’s not going anywhere!

I agree! I didn’t use Bloglovin much when I first signed up because I was SUCH a Google Reader fan. But now that I’m forced to switch, I’m really liking it.

Thanks for sharing! Can import your starred items to Bloglovin? If not, does anyone know of a reader that has that ability? I have tons of starred items I’d hate to lose.
