Storage Solution – Caboodles Gilded Pleasure Nail Valet

If you’re a child of the 80s or 90s, you undoubtedly owned a Caboodles makeup carrier at some point in your adolescence. Mine was pink and green and it still exists somewhere in my parents’ house. Though I can’t bear to think of what rotten, old makeup is living in there! Well, Caboodles are still around peeps and they created a storage solution with us nail polish fanatics in mind.

Over the years, a post about my Nail Polish Room has sparked many inquiries about my OPI train case. Unfortunately, it was a limited edition item I bought over eight years ago and I’ve been looking for something to recommend to readers ever since. Enter the Caboodles Gilded Pleasure Nail Valet. Take a peek inside…

The Caboodles Gilded Pleasure Nail Valet is covered in a black-and-white, faux-hide, textured zebra print with a hot pink zippered top for an added pop of color. The lid contains a mirror and five elasticized pockets for tools. The inner tray and nail polish divider are both removable.

I tested the 24 bottle grid divider to see if the case will still close with taller bottles in the mix. While super tall bottles, like YSL and Dolce & Gabbana, won’t fit, any polish the height of Sephora by OPI or shorter is no problem.

The horizontally divided, top tray is 2.5″ deep and perfect for housing remover, cuticle oil, etc. Smaller treatment bottles, like Essie or Nails Inc are a perfect fit to sit vertically in the divider but taller bottles, think China Glaze, will have to lay horizontally or go down below.

Bottom Line: If you have a modest nail polish collection or you like to take your nail necessities on the road, this is definitely one of the most affordable nail storage cases I’ve seen in a long time. I remember paying $20 for my OPI case, AFTER buying $25 worth of product, almost a decade ago!

The Caboodles Gilded Pleasure Nail Valet is shipping to stores this week and will be carried at Meijer, Target and Walmart. The 10″ L x 7″ W x 6.5″ H case has a retail price of $29.99.

Are you loving the Caboodles Nail Valet? What kind of nail polish storage solutions do you have? Even if you have a larger, Helmer-required collection, do you still buy train cases? Obviously, I do!

    I Need one of these

  2. Debbie says:

This would be cute for travel (assuming it’s a road trip and not TSA security issues). Not big enough for my home storage though.

  3. Looks like a great storage solution but the pink/zebra decor isn’t really my thing!

  4. Danii says:

I have to ask, seeing all these gorgeous polishes, one question. Are you going to be picking up the China Glaze Hologlam polishes? So eager for them.

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Most definitely! I’m impatiently waiting for them to arrive ;)

      • Danii says:

Sweet!! I am madly in love with linear holos and can’t wait for these, especially since I didn’t get anything from the OMG collection or Color Club’s Worth the Risque.

  5. Florasol says:

IKEA it is, but in my case it’s 3 Trofast plastic boxes, that I divided in 3 sections each, with cardboard strips of same height of the box. (you know the rectangular colored plastic boxes with a white cover with a hole in the middle?)
So in the bottom box I have Greens, Blues, Purples. In the middle box I have Reds, Pinks and Golds (that ranges from browns to yellows to oranges, all the warm shades I very seldom use). In the top box I have Glitters (that also means toppers, crackles, and special fx in general), Black&Whites (which of course icludes greys and silvers), and Accessories (rhinestones, adhesives and so on).
As my collection is about 200 nail polishes (I gave away to my friends more or less 70 polishes last year) it fits nicely in those 3 boxes.

I definitely have 2 Helmers and intend to get at least two more, but I do travel with some of my polishes and nail art accessories to do others nails or to do my own when on vacations. Definitely have to get a couple of these if they come in other colors than the pink. I hate pink! LOL! But really I do.
    8-)

  7. Bridgette says:

I had a caboodle! I love this and will get one for sure! Thanks so much for posting!

  8. SuzyS says:

I got a FANTASTIC Caboodles toiletry case a few years ago at KMart (solid black-they make serious looking cases too!). They really think about what women need more than other beauty bag companies. Compartments for big bottles and a hairdryer, besides all the traditional spaces.

My original Caboodles was pink and green too. I remember asking for it as a birthday gift somewhere around ’89.

  9. Aneela says:

You’re right, this is great for someone with a smaller collection or just for traveling- it would be awesome if they just sold the dividers separately, though!

  10. Susan says:

The Caboodles case is so cute! And I agree with SuzyS — the company has really thought about what women need. This would be a great gift!

  11. Lam says:

This would be great for DD she is always taking polish and her nail stuff to friends houses. She has a birthday coming up, I will be on the lookout for this! I am planning a trip to Ikea soon for some bookshelves and a couple of Helmers on on my list too.

  12. Love the Ikea Helmer, not just for polish but for hiding knick knacks. Wouldnt get a train case since I don’t travel too much with polishes.

  13. khara says:

Thats cute but I like to display my polishes as art, if you will :)

I used glass shelves from Ikea:

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Those shelves look really nice. I would never be able to keep my polishes organized well enough to put them on display. It’s like people who have glass fronts on their kitchen cabinets. I envy their organization. I need solid fronts to hide the clutter, ha!

  14. KimTeague says:

I don’t want to think how many of these it would take to put my collection in lol and as for using it to store my favorites…I refuse to take that much time :D BUT this would be awesome to store all of my base coats, hardeners, nail files, and nail care stuff in so I think it’s something I might check out.

  15. Ah, if only I had so few polishes! I use a Craftsman toolbox I won in a drawing a couple years ago – not perfect since all bottles are on their sides, but ample space!

  16. JDV says:

I’d love a mini version of this, something you could pack in your luggage that would keep a few bottles safe. Maybe a small little cube that holds 4 or 6 along with a tray for like a nail file and some remover pads? Hmmm I have a jewelry travel case that I never use, I might have to play around with it.

  17. Rebecca Russell says:

Ahhh…good old Caboodles. Mine was bright pink and blue and it carried me through MANY dance performances. I actually have a black train case made by Caboodles that I keep some of my makeup in. They are still pretty fabulous! :)

  18. Stephanie Smith says:

I currently use a Caboodle for my nail polish! It’s not big enough for all of my polish, so I break it up into Spring/Summer, and Fall/Winter. This one is adorable, but it doesn’t hold enough polish for me. But I loooooove it! There’s a fairly good chance that I’ll pick one up!

  19. Loren Burton says:

This is too cute! My polish is all over the place and I can never find the one I want.

Love this bag..and is a great price too!
Thanks for high – lighting this bag!

  20. Amanda says:

Meh, not for me. The pink is annoying, and I don’t really like the zebra thing either.

Getting a Helmer soon, right now I just have those plastic screw boxes (big, heavy plastic, handle) that hardware stores get shipments of bulk screws in. They work well enough, and nice for travel since I can get a small acetone bottle in upright.

They’re clear usually, so I covered one with Spiderman. Because I can. Then one is a TARDIS. The new one is blue leopard print. And the new, new one isn’t taped up yet.

  21. Leisel says:

ARGH! I cannot find this locally or on the internet (other than reviews like this one). They don’t even have it at Target.com or Walmart.com

    • Michelle says:

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time finding this. I’ve heard it is in stores but I haven’t been to a Target or Walmart recently to verify.

  22. Leisel says:

I have too many polishes just for this, too… I have 2 helmers. I was thinking of using it for the bases and topcoats I use all the time, and current polish so that I have one place for everything to take where I want to do my manicure, as well as ones that I haven’t swatchsicled or put away properly yet.

  23. Acaciava says:

I was at Target and they do have it. The one I saw was black with white polka dots on the outside and the inside was the same picture above.

  24. Lynn says:

I bought one of these a couple weeks ago.. just filled the bottom part with some of my opi polishes and my more expensive ones.. i zipped it up to walk away with it.. and it fell apart.. crushed

    • Michelle says:

Are you kidding? Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry that happened. I hope you contacted Caboodles about this.

  25. TC says:

Do you happen to know if Julep bottles will fit or not?

    • Michelle Mismas says:

Hi TC! Unfortunately, Julep bottles are too tall for the bottom section of the Nail Valet. Though you could stack a bunch of them, on their side in the top, removable insert.
