LAYLA, you’ve got me on my knees! Layla Magneffect Magnetic Nail Polish

layla magneffect magnetic nail polish I am so over crackle nail polish, I can’t even stand it. Thankfully we have a new nail polish toy to play with, magnetic nail polish. Just like the mattes and crackles that came before it, I predict by this time next year, a majority of the major nail polish brands will have followed the magnetic trail blazed by brands like Layla and LCN.

We saw this happen last summer when lesser known foreign nail polish manufacturers started coming out with crackles and now you can’t throw a rock in a drugstore without hitting a brand that has jumped on the crackle bandwagon.

Of course, this isn’t the first time magnetic nail polish has caused a buzz, it just fizzled out too fast due to lack of availability. Well that isn’t the case anymore. Last month when I attended Cosmoprof North America I had the good fortune to meet the people behind Layla Cosmetics, an Italian brand who was exhibiting their line in Discover Beauty. Discover Beauty is a section of the show reserved for emerging brands hoping to find US distributorship.

Well, Layla certainly made an impression because their Magneffect Magnetic Nail Polish is already popping up at a number of online stores.

tonymoly galaxy glitter nail polish I know a lot of you requested reviews of the Fall collections and I’m working on them, I promise, but I could not wait to tell you about these incredible glitter polishes from TONYMOLY.

A few weeks ago I saw a shot of a gorgeous green glitter go by on my Tumblr dashboard and it was labeled as Tony Moly Galaxy. A little eBay search brought me to these treasures from the South Korean brand TONYMOLY, which means “a place to put style into packaging.” I couldn’t resist those little glitter bombs so I ordered a few to try out and WOW are they glitztastic.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Glitter Gal Lizard Belly Green Holographic Nail Polish

glitter gal lizard belly green linear holographic nail polish 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.Untried Day #121 – What has been my recurring nail polish wish ever since ALU began??? Long time readers may remember my pleading here, here and here for an EMERALD GREEN HOLO. While my wish hasn’t exactly been realized, Glitter Gal has come as close as I’ve found.

Glitter Gal Lizard Belly isn’t emerald green but it’s a true holographic nail polish, not just holo glitter. It may not be from an easily accessible brand but at least we can get our hands on it in the US. So while it may not be a total dream come true it still makes my heart flutter.

The Arsenal – EOS Everyday Hand Lotion

in The Arsenal with 20 Comments

eos-everyday-hand-lotion-evolution-of-smooth I get a lot of questions and comments regarding the tools and treatment products I use to keep my nails healthy and in tip top shape. Since my routine changes as I test new products, I’ve launched, The Arsenal, to share with you the items that are “must haves” in my nail kit.

A couple years ago I was introduced to the EOS, or Evolution of Smooth, brand when its Shave Cream launched. I received a bottle in a gift bag at an event and since you can never have enough shave cream or body wash in your life, I gave it a try. Two years later, my cabinet is stocked with EOS Shave Cream. I even have the boyfriend hooked on it. The Vanilla Bliss is my jam!

Then there was a frenzy when the EOS Lip Balm Spheres came out and I stalked my Walgreens to get a three piece set. I love those little buggers.

Well now I have a new EOS favorite in the Everyday Hand Lotion. This flat, pocket-sized tube of lotion comes in two scents (floral & cucumber), is paraben, phthalate & lanolin free and does a fantastic job of moisturizing my parched hands without leaving them greasy. I keep a tube next to my laptop and never have to think twice about grabbing my mouse or tapping on my keyboard. You won’t be leaving marks or residue behind.

What’s even better is the size. The TSA friendly 1.5oz size means I have finally found a hand lotion I love that I can carry in my purse without worry of it being confiscated. Don’t tell but, I’ve been smuggling a big tube of my beloved Aruba Aloe lotion in my purse for years and, thankfully, haven’t been caught. Considering its cost and lack of availability I shouldn’t have been taking a chance. And now I don’t have to. Now if only the Shave Cream came in a travel size.

EOS Everyday Hand Lotion is available online at EvolutionofSmooth.com and at mass retailers nationwide including Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart. The 1.5oz tube retails for $2.49/ea.

Disclosure: A hand lotion product sample was sent by reps for EOS. I purchased the lip balm spheres and continue to purchase the shave cream myself. For more info view my Disclosure Policy.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Sparitual Inner Sanctum

sparitual inner sanctum nail polish 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Untried Day #120 – We had a visitor in our back yard and she inspired today’s manicure. The boyfriend spotted a fawn grazing around the tree in the back corner of our property and when he went out on the deck, he was amazed how unfazed she was by his presence.

It’s not like deer are that uncommon or anything but we are in a pretty urban area not far from downtown. Our neighborhood doesn’t exactly provide lots of wooded places for deer to hide.

The fawn must be pretty adjusted to city life though because she napped under our tree for the entire day and night and her mom took up residence in our neighbor’s yard. I wanted to go out to try and pet her but I kept reminding myself that I don’t live in a Disney cartoon where humans and wild animals are friends.

I dedicate today’s manicure to my little deer friend using Sparitual Inner Sanctum, the best shade I could find to match her gorgeous coat.
