ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Chanel Peridot from the Fall 2011 Collection

chanel peridot nail polish duochrome fall 2011 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Even though Chanel Graphite is the Fall Chanel color that caused me to swoon, it’s Chanel Peridot that is getting all the buzz. I even saw Bobbie Thomas mention it on her Today Show “Minute Buzz” segment along with LCN Magnetic Polish (yay!).

Now you know I’m all about the greens but I haven’t exactly been champing at the bit to wear Peridot. Yellow greens are just not my thing. They remind me of cat’s eyes which, as much as I love my furballs, are a creepy color.

I did a nail wheel swatch of Peridot when it arrived and felt pretty “meh” but I’m finally taking the plunge since so many of you have asked about it.

Formula & Application: Chanel nail polish is 4-Free (includes formaldehyde resin) plus there’s no camphor, which can be an irritant. The signature square glass bottles are topped with a black square outer cap that is removed to reveal a stubby, round, ribbed inner cap. The brush is round, medium in length and width and reminds me of the old OPI/new SOPI brushes. It easily fans out and covers the nail without much resistance.

Peridot is a metallic so expect to see some brush strokes, which is why I’m not typically a fan of that finish. The bonus is that it applies nice and thin so if you have a good technique, you can get it on with minimal brush marks in two coats. Application tip: Wait until the first coat is dry. Applying a second layer of metallic over wet polish will amplify the problem.

Chanel Peridot is a duo-chrome, meaning it flashes two colors, that looks more gold than green. You can see traces of a mossy hue at the edges and at certain angles but from straight on this is a tarnished gold.

I’ve heard that a European Sephora nail polish called Diving in Malaysia is a pretty close dupe to Peridot but no twins exist in my stash. I’m sure part of it is that I’m not a fan of these types of colors. Like I never jumped on China Glaze Cat’s Eye. In my collection, the only colors I own that even come close are Nubar Wildlife (a bronze green duo-chrome), China Glaze Peace on Earth, Quirius Cresskill Eye and OPI Simply Smashing but none of them are a match.

chanel peridot nail polish comparison dupe duochrome

Peace on Earth is way too green with no duo-chrome effect and Cresskill Eye is muted, as though there is a teal film on the surface. Peridot is definitely a stand out shade.

Bottom Line: I’m torn. Peridot is definitely a unique shade and a Chanel duo-chrome is something worth getting excited about plus its relatively low brush stroke tendency is a bonus.  If this color is in your wheelhouse, I have no doubt you’ll adore it however, on my nails I’m not like ready to do a Jersey Shore fist-pump over it.

365 of Untrieds Stash/Share Verdict: Hmm, I honestly don’t know. I feel like I should STASH it because it’s unique and I don’t have anything like it but that seems like such a Hoarders-esque rationale. What do you all think? STASH or SHARE? And WHY?

Chanel Peridot is a limited edition shade and it’s available now at Chanel counters nationwide and online at Chanel.com and department store websites like Nordstrom.com. Chanel nail polish retails for $25/ea for a .4oz bottle.

Thoughts on Peridot? If you haven’t yet purchased it, do you plan to? Are you a fan of the gold-greens? Can you think of any US nail colors that might be similar?

  1. Jessi says:

I like it, but not enough to pay Chanel prices for it. If you weren’t a nail blogger I would say share it, because there is no point in keeping something you would rarely, if ever, wear. But since you ARE a blogger and don’t own anything like it, you should keep it for comparisons. Because you know people will be asking all the time.

    • KR says:

Agreed, there’s a lot of Peridot love out there, and people are definitely on the lookout for dupes. You need it for comparisons if nothing else! Personally, I adore it, but I know it’s not for everyone.

    • Karen says:

I agree. If it was my personal collection I would share because I prefer Peace on Earth, but if any supposed dupes come out, you’ll be asked about them.

  2. olivia says:

ah so pretty. i wish i had this. peridot is my birthstone.

  3. Andie says:

Share. I like the slightly greener polishes better. Something about this color just looks unhealthy. I feel like this should have been one of the colors in the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection instead of all the pastels. Either way. SHARE. It’s just not very attractive.

  4. Diane says:

I think you should SHARE. With me…

Seriously though, there are companies who are sort of making it a habit of duping the nicer Chanel shades – Revlon and Models Own come to mind. I’d suggest holding onto it until a suitable cheaper dupe comes out, and then selling it to someone who really wants the Chanel label.

  5. Lizzy says:

Just because you have nothing like it…if you’re never gonna wear it and it doesn’t curl your toes, share it.

    Simple as that.

Now Wearing: (fingers) Coat Azure/Essie, (toes) Big Apple Red/OPI

  6. Susie says:

Share. It’s unique, but you’re not going to wear it. I’m not sure anyone should. Just because it’s a little different doesn’t mean it looks good.

  7. keri says:

Personally, I’d stash it! I think it’s a beautiful, unique color.. but if you’re not really feeling it, share!

  8. Jen says:

I just discovered Missha Crystal HGR01 which is a similar finish to Peridot but in a much more wearable yellow-green-blue spectrum (in my opinion). Maybe you would like that? If you google it, there is a blog post that compares the two.

I don’t have peridot to do a comparison but I have got a post coming up on it just need to get some sunlight photos.

  9. Jammies says:

Life is too short for polishes you don’t love–I’d share it.

  10. Rebecca says:

I say “share” and do not “stash.” Creepy pee-greenish yellowish no no!

  11. Share because I expect more from Chanel and this is just not that impressive. Had the strong Blue duochrome that flahses in the bottle had come out more on the nail then I would have been more impressed.

    • Linda says:

i bought it and really wanted it to look like it did in the bottle. I was disappointed, and it was tought to get a good application so it looked thick. It gave me old lady hands!

  12. Rachel Kurtz says:

Hoarderesque? Now, what could possibly be wrong with that?! Lol. Moving on, I think the CG Peace on Earth is actually quite pretty and nice on your skin. The Chanel Peridot looks good on you, but I am not fond of the color, either. Golds and I don’t really get along as my skin tone is cool. I do like the mossy tones that flash but unless you love the color, I would Share. I like the other better, as each is more green than gold. Good luck making your choice!

  13. Cecilia says:

Share! I personally don’t think it’s anything too special

  14. Katie says:

I would stash it but maybe it’s the hoarder in me. But if you don’t like the color at all I would suggest finding it a good home.

  15. Julia says:

If you have nothing else like it, I’d definitely stash it.

  16. Heather says:

Definitely a share – you aren’t jazzed about it so why take up space in the helmer? I’m not a fan either – the flash of green makes me think of algae in a fish tank.

  17. Lara says:

I feel like Wildlife does what Peridot can’t – which is actually translate the duochrome from the bottle to the nail. And since you didn’t love Wildlife, I’m not sure I can see Peridot growing on you either. Trust your gut.

  18. Maria says:

i was waiting for you to post about this nail polish! you have the best reviews on the blog world and i love your honesty. i’ve seen this nail polish and i swear i cant get it out of my head. i love the unique color & i have nothing like it . however im a cheap and 25 bucks its just insane to me. so recently on a shopping trip i picked up Orly Its Not Rocket Science because it reminded me of Peridot. can you purrty please do a comparison?! the tought of picking this polish up is still lingering in my head! thanks.!

  19. I want to buy this color, but the price point is putting me off right now :P I loooove green golds, though.

As to whether to share or stash…how likely are you to wear this color again? That’s probably how I’d decide. If you don’t think you’re going to wear it many times again, it might be better to share it :)

  20. Valerie says:

I’d share it. I don’t think it’s a pretty color at all. Unique, sure. But not necessarily in the good way.

  21. tPFmariah9999 says:

It looks fab on you (as always) and I suggest that you stash it! :)

  22. eRiN says:

STASH for sure. Try applying one thin layer over a deep blue base! It brings out the blue tone you can see in the bottle: http://cheapchickpicks.blogspot.com/2011/06/cheap-tip-divide-conquer.html

  23. Lis says:

my husband bought me this color because it reminds him of the Eosin lacque of Zsolnay porcelain figurines (e.g. http://www.klugex.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/989302.jpg) – they look green in pictures but are shimmering golden in RL.
he collects that stuff so i guess it’s kinda creepy that he’d get me nail polish that matches but hey, if i get a free chanel polish out of it, i ain’t complaining. :D

  24. Iris says:

I just truly believe that sharing the things you won’t wear is the best idea.

  25. Kelly says:

share! even if it is unique to your collection, you probably wont wear it since you arent a fan of the color! i dont think it looks too flattering either on anyone. i do admit it is unique, but not all that! share it!

  26. Charli says:

I picked up a bottle of Nina Ultra Pro Mossy Britches from Sally’s tonight. I’m not sure how close the two are, but I’d rather take the $18-19 and get something else! :)

  27. Luka says:

This is one of my favorite polishes ever but if you are on the fence I think you should share so someone else can get their mitts on it

  28. Emily says:

STASH! I love this color! Just ordered mine a few days ago.

  29. Ulmiel says:

I’d say share it. I would. It’s too gold, the green is too subtle and the finish isn’t my favourite either. IMHO ChG Peace on Earth kicks its butt!

  30. Kristina says:

I think you should stash it because it’s very unique. I have this color and love it! It’s hard to capture its multi-dimension colors in photos…

  31. Phyllis says:

I agree with Jessi and to me it really looks the most amazing in the bottle.

  32. i would stash it just because it’s a LE Chanel. I think you might kick yourself if in the future you decided that you wanted it and it was hard to find and you had gotten rid of it :)

  33. juju_knucklz says:

I say SHARE. It is really ‘meh’ on the nail. Looks only slightly more interesting in the bottle…

  34. peach_ says:

I was torn, too, but I say STASH since you don’t have anything like it, which is a rare (and welcome) encounter for a polish collector.

  35. Lena says:

share it. you’ll not wear them anyway. better yet, do a contest giveaway for it! :D

  36. Danielle says:

This looks like Wallis from Butter London! It’s at Nordstrom and it’s special edition created for the Betsy Johnson Show. Wallis has more micro shimmer though…

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Wallis is a lot darker and much more green. Though I find it interesting that they both came out with gold greens around the same time.

  37. NailPolishFan says:

I love the color, but the price:( I would say SHARE it.

  38. Frances says:

If you don’t like it, share it… I love the color, and would buy it myself if it weren’t so goshdarn expensive.

  39. Alyssa says:

Share. I am just not digging the color. Graphite just seems to be the winner in this collection.

  40. meme says:

I say share – you will make someone really happy who thinks this is the greatest color. But I like you have not been a fan of this shade. It’s too gold is it’s problem for me. The gold overwhelms it in being a good duochrome and gives it that cat eye look that is what some cat’s eyes are lets face it that have ugly eyes. I also thought of Nubar Wildlife as a close dupe – but a good shade – not an ick shade like Peridot is. If you ever want it again after you share it – you know someone will have come up with a dupe to it with all the hype it has gotten. It’s not going to go down as a classic of Chanel of past. It’s trendy and those never get that Chanel classic status.

  41. Dana says:

If you’re not feeling it share it, but the timing of this is so funny because I just read in a new special issue of InStyle today that they’re expecting this shade to go the way of Chanel Vamp (original), Black Satin, Jade and Nouvelle Vague. I guess we’ll see!

  42. Bunny says:

It’s beautiful and unique and if the pictures don’t lie, very flattering to you. Peridot, however is not a summer color. It’s an edgy color of great sophistication. Wait for the fall before you decide.

  43. I say share and share with me! :D

    XOXO

    The Brainless Housewife :P

  44. Melissa says:

I think it’s a pretty color but nothing that I’m going crazy over. I’m not sure why, it’s cool how the color shifts. But I don’t know, it’s just not wowing me. The price is steep too. You’d think with prices like that, you’d be getting polishes that blow your mind. If you don’t love it, I’d share it and save room for a polish that you don’t have to question your love for.

  45. Tori says:

I definitely say share. It’s a nice color but my logic is if you’re not in love with it and it doesn’t grab you then it won’t grab you to pick it up and use it again =)

  46. kaydi says:

SHARE. If you even have to ask us, you already have shown that you don’t love it. I tried to pretend that I wanted it in my stash because of all the swatches I’ve seen but I, too, am not a fan of yellow greens. If it didn’t have the Chanel label, I bet you wouldn’t even think twice… Sharing is caring ;)

  47. Cat says:

Because of all the buzz I just splurged on this and Graphite. Now with your review, I’m a little bit leery of Peridot, but we’ll see how it goes. The more I look at it, the more I like it (at first I thought it was kind of ugly) but we’ll see how it looks on the nail!

  48. Meeka says:

I can understand the urge to stash because it’s unique but at the same time if you are unlikely to wear it I’m not sure it’s worth taking up the space. I can see maybe keeping it for comparisons but even then, I’m not sure it’s really worth it.
It’s much too bad that the beautiful colors in the bottle do not translate on the nail though!

  49. Lise says:

Share ! I don’t like the color and the finish neither. Even if you don’t have a dupe, that’s not a reason to keep it.

  50. Laura says:

The color is great, but too expensive (Even more so in Germany. You pay ~31$ here).

I think Peace on Earth looks better, so I’d go with “share” as well.

  51. Maya says:

Stash. No doubt. It’s gorgeous, maybe you’re not in a mood for this color right now, but you’ll regret sharing it later? I can’t wait to buy it, but I’m a green lover. Peridot is a must-have for me.

  52. JamieBDA says:

Share…..I think it would look good on warm skin tones. On us cool tones, it looks eh, not to pretty. Share.

  53. Elana says:

Its my birthstone too but i so dont love the yellowie greens, and gold just doesn’t suit my skin tone. I think it would look good on someone with darker skin and i know when i read Scrangie’s post about this color i thought it was an interesting color but not for me, cudo’s to Chanel for trying something out there. I like purple polish, looks good with my white skin and the blue mellows out the redness in my skin, but inspite of that i haven’t taken the plunge and bought Paradoxal, the cost is just too much and im willing to spend on polish, i placed 2 orders in the 3 months with Picture Polish. Me i would like to see the other two reviews about the goodies that were sent by the Ozzies, i’m wondering if they’re colors i have.

  54. Sabine says:

I would have liked it, if this blue shimmer you see on the sides of the bottle would also show up on the nails…

    • Bunny says:

That blue shimmer does show up, but it’s more apparent if you are looking at the polish on someone else’s nails. For some reason, when it’s on your own hands you just don’t get the right angle to see it morph into different colors.

  55. Joan says:

I bought it and am going to put it on in the Fall. I get a lot of compliments when I wear Chanel Polish and with this one I am sure I will no doubt get the comps. I will get back to ya all when I start getting some remarks when worn. It is very unique. That’s what I love about it.

  56. Emily says:

I’d say stash it for a bit until the other brands come out with a dupe for comparisons-then share it.
Honestly if the polish looked like it did in the bottle i’d keep it-despite it being kind of ugly. I have so so many colors I probably WON’T wear again but i want to keep them in my collection just to have them. I’m not strong enough to get rid of them :)

  57. telly says:

Tough choice! I picked up Graphite based on your review…not sure if it’s office friendly, but I’m going to find out closer to the fall! I swatched it on my thumb at Nordstrom and returned to the mall hours later to buy it. I wear a lot of black and charcoal, so these colors go well with my wardrobe. Not sure if I should go for Peridot or Quartz. I’m leaning toward Quartz because I never ever wear gold…

  58. JenCz says:

Stash it. Somebody already mentioned…you should keep it simply because you’re a np blogger. Plus you’ll already own a bottle if this color develops a cult following or turns into a crazy sensation where it becomes a much sought-after color in a few years (like clarins 230). Also – ya never know – you may develop a taste for a shade like this at some point down the line.

  59. Deb says:

What a tough call! The collector in me says STASH but if you won’t use it, I’d SHARE with someone who loves it. They will love you forever!

  60. Lindsey says:

SHARE it with ME!!! I think it’s beautiful, but there’s no way I can justify paying that price for one bottle of polish. :(

In all seriousness though, if you don’t think you’ll ever wear it I would share it.

  61. Chris says:

I thought Peridot would be my first Chanel buy, but now that I see it on the nail I’m more interested in getting Graphite.
I say keep Peridot, because you may need it for comparisons in the future.

  62. Pam says:

Like you, I just can’t get too excited about this polish. As mentioned above, since you’re a np blogger hang onto it for a while so you can do dupe comparisons then SHARE it with someone who will love it!

  63. tussah says:

I love it…but I saw pics of it over black and it was absolutely stunning. STASH

  64. I really love this color on you

  65. JDV says:

If you’re not gonna wear it… share it!

That said, nobody is ever going to touch my bottle. Mine mine mine mine! Between that and graphite I’m a happy camper.

  66. jb says:

I don’t think it suits your skin tones. So if you’re already sort of meh about it, I’d share it.

  67. Oh my god, i need this beauty!

  68. Stacey says:

It looks so cool in the bottle! I hate it when duochromes don’t really pop on the nail. It’s a share.

  69. Fiona Coen Tunca says:

share, If its not your color and you wont wear it more than once again, share!

  70. Candy says:

Share. You dont really like it, rare or not, so why keep it? Have a contest or a giveaway.

  71. K says:

Share. Just because it’s Chanel doesn’t make it a good color, nor does the fact that it
s unique. I’m a hoarder too but you gotta get rid of the stuff you’re unsure about.

  72. Danielle says:

I just bought Nubar Wildlife. I think its a really nice color and those polishes dont chip off the way Chanel does on me. This color is not a favorite of mine but I have a feeling its going to be everywhere in the fall and I might start to like it. Plus $7 for pretty close is better than $25 and chipping for me. Plus I dont like the small short brush on the Chanel bottles. Thanks for all the comparison colors! It worked for me.

  73. Katie says:

I would say share. The polish would have been much prettier if it looked as unique as it did in the bottle. I just don’t think the color is all that flattering.

  74. Medusa says:

Oooh, I’d like to try what tussah said. I think you should stash it too. But if you share, I’ll happily take it! :)

  75. Anna says:

I all of the polishes that you show in the last pic.. :)
When it comes to Peridot Id STASH it, but if you dont feel like it then you should share.. but think about it a lot first so that you wont change your mind :) I think the color will grow on you :)
    Hugs

  76. Carrie says:

Stash for the season (until the inevitable dupe/near dupe comes out) and then share.

As a blogger, it might be handy to keep in your stash.

On a personal level, I’d share. It’s a unique color, but one that wouldn’t work on my pale cool-toned skin. Combined with the tendency for hit/miss with wear when it comes to Chanel (if I apply it just right I get great wear, other teams it’s a chippy mess) I can’t see why it’d be worth keeping.

  77. Melany says:

The color is gorgeous. Stash it!

  78. Aya says:

Nubar’s indigo illusion, might fit the bill if you are looking for more green

  79. jodyanne says:

it depends if it looks good on you or not. i wore this for a week on a trip to southern california. it felt pretty gold to me, and the formula was stellar. no chips despite playing in the rough pacific ocean, couldn’t believe it. so the quality is absolutely there. somehow it didn’t even chip on my pedicure despite all of those darn rocks, unreal!

but intuitively–do you like it or not? does it look good on you?

one thought: it won’t be available later. so, maybe (i’m an enabler) you are not ready to call it either way. perhaps wear it a time or two, then decide.

    either way, it’s hot!!

  80. tbone says:

How long is the wear time on these?

  81. Goose says:

It’s funny, ’cause I’m absolutely in love with Peridot. I’ve considered getting a backup bottle of it, even though I don’t usually spend this much for one bottle of polish. I’ve worn it twice (and already planning my third time) and that’s never happened to me with any polish in this short of a time. I made a post in which I tried to capture all the amazing duochrome, but I’ll probably post again after trying it over black.

HOWEVER, I think many people are right in that it suits warm skin tones over cool tones. I have the warmer tan skin and it is extremely flattering. I can see how it might “wash out” the color on those with pink or blue undertones (but you guys are lucky and can wear cornflower blues and such without looking dingy or dirty!).

    • Amanda says:

I’m pretty pale with cool undertones (think MAC NW 15, though that’s not exact) and I actually love the way it looks on me! Like you said, it does seem like it would suit warm skin tones over cool, but it might be one of those colors that everyone has to try.

  82. Sharon says:

Stash. Isn’t collecting nail polishes the main point of your blog? If it’s unique definitely keep it until something better comes along.

  83. KittenPoker says:

I picked up Peridot last weekend at Barney’s in Las Vegas. I guess I feel the need to have at least one Chanel in my ever-growing stash (220+ bottles I think). Alone it’s pretty but I added a thin coat of Orly’s Space Cadet. For me it’s added that extra OOMPH! Peridot needed. The pink sparkle over Peridot is awesome :).

  84. BlushfulBetty says:

I like Peace on Earth better and it sounds like you don’t love Peridot. Share.

  85. Ashley says:

I definitely agree with others on the matter of this color being more flattering on those with warm skin tones rather than cool, but I think Sharon makes a good point.

Personally, I’ve been in love with Peridot ever since I saw it on The Swatchaholic’s site (http://the-swatchaholic.com/?p=3992#more-3992). Her photos of it are truly amazing! Anyway, what ended up being your final decision? Did you “STASH” or “SHARE?”

  86. Michelle says:

I passed on it. I was going to rationalize that wow, this is a unique polish from Chanel but then I thought to myself at $25 plus tax a bottle was I going to wear it often (no)? Did I love it on me (again, the answer is no)? So I didn’t get it. Instead I went and spent that money on some other polishes I knew I was going to wear and did love on me. =)

  87. MelissaKC1a says:

Stash….and Thank You from all of us August babies!!

  88. Jennifer says:

I really love this color for certain occasions, such as a night out. I don’t think it’s the most wearable color. I absolutely adore how unique it is. And it’s Chanel… how could you go wrong?

  89. Anne-Laure says:

    Share!
What’s the point of keeping a color “that is unique” if you KNOW you won’t wear it, because 1) you don’t really like it and 2) it dos’nt match your skin tone?

And for dupe: I agree, I’m in europe (france), I already swatched Sephora’s Diving In Malaysia in store and feel like it’s a dupe (according to your photo).

Is Peridot already in the stores? I should look for it next time I go to Sephora and swatch both to compare…

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Yep, it’s been out for a few weeks now. I don’t know if that applies to stores outside the US though.

  90. Lisa says:

Eh, it kinda sounds like you’re not really a fan of the color, period…so why have it taking up space? You have some that are close enough, it seems, if you’re ever in a greeny-bronzy-gold mood, so I don’t really think you’d miss it. Share, and instead get a backup of Graphite! :)

    • Lisa says:

Hm…after reading other comments though…I guess if you’re not running out of space, I’d love for you to keep it for comparisons…it’s a selfish opinion though, since a) I’m not the one who has to store all these bottles of polish, and b)I kind of hope you’ll find a dupe!

  91. Amanda says:

I say stash – it’s such a unique color. I bought it a few weeks ago and love it. I’m wearing it right now and have gotten quite a few compliments.

  92. Julie says:

I’m torn. I want to love Peridot but I have alot of yellow to my skin so may not be gorgeous, maybe in the dead of winter when I am like the rest of you pale. However, I did splurge for the Graphite and I’m not sure I love it as much a I thought I would. The pics I saw of it looked darker and when I applied it, I see alot of green (tarnished silver maybe) and not a whole lot of gray or black. I’ve been on the fence if I like it or not and usually I’m decisive when it comes to polish!

  93. Sheena says:

I say stash, its such a unique color and the quality of Chanel polish is worth keeping

Honestly, if you don’t love it, share. Life is too short to make room for polish you don’t love!!

  95. Whitney says:

I say SHARE. It’s like when you’re shopping: If you don’t love it in the store, you’ll never wear it. Also, if you’re liking the intent of this polish (interesting green/gold combo) try butterLONDON’s Wallis instead. I think you will find it more flattering.

  96. TLM says:

Between the Chanel and the China Glaze, I think the CG color looks both closer to the color of a Peridot and looks more expensive. I think the Chanel one looks cheap and isn’t even pretty. THe thing is, it isn’t even close to the shade of a peridot stone, and so the name bothers me. Sinful Colors’ Happy Ending is close to a real peridot.

  97. BlueCat says:

It’s interesting, but the gem stone is not gold with green edges; it’s a green with strong yellow undertones. I think the China Glaze looks more Peridot colored than Peridot does. It doesn’t appear to be the color of any cat’s eyes that I’ve ever known, and I think cat’s eyes are lovely. Other than the fact that it’s duochrome, which I know many people like, I think it misses the mark – and I love greens!

  98. Susan says:

I say stash it! I love wearing Peridot right now in the summer. I’ll be honest with you when I first saw it and swatched it, I wasn’t sure I would like it. I saw that old gold duochrome and thought of that’s different. The first time I saw it in the sunlight I was in aw! I like it when the sun hits my nails and I see this amazing gold shimmer! I like going outside and seeing it in direct sunlight! That is when I knew it was a keeper.

    STASH!

  100. Tina says:

I have to say, it’s a beautiful colour, and if we (LCN) were going to be featured next to any other polish, Chanel would’ve been my choice

I think this is the most unique, beautiful polish in recent times.I could not stop staring at my nails.Gold with green on the edges.AWESOME.(Iam not a GOLD NAILPOLISH PERSON).Photographs do not capture the beauty of this polish. For me, totally worth the price.Iam addicted to chanel polishes. Can’t wait to see what they are going to do next.

  102. LOVE! Chanel usually puts out very lovely, original shades, but this year seems especially nice.

  103. Liz says:

I think this will look fabulous against my caramel brown skin. $25 for 4 oz. is a splurge for me, but I’ve gotta have that Peridot!

  104. I have swatched Sephora’s diving in Malaysia next to Chanel Peridot on my blog here: http://inyourface.at/4385 Sephora on the left, Chanel on the right. They’re almost alike, with Chanel having a tiny bit more depth and sparkle. Anyway, I love Peridot

  105. Ellie says:

I found Peridot really hard to get hold of in the UK, I managed to buy it on my recent trip to Paris, and being a huge fan of gold greens I can honestly say I adore it. I’ve been looking for a shade like this for months and I’m so pleased to finally have it! It also has flashes of blue/green hues when in water too, I’ve noticed. Beautiful colour.

  106. Lucy says:

L.A colours “Cactus!” I find it’s almost an exact dupe, and it’s only $2.50! I know you can find LA colours at urban outfitters, urban behaivour, Sirens, ect.

  107. Samantha M says:

I broke down and bought it yesterday! I called Belk, and they had a bottle, and they asked if I wanted them to hold it, and I couldn’t help myself! Mainly because I had spent the afternoon trying to track down dupes (Diving in Malaysia and Chemistry 507, to be exact) and I couldn’t get them anywhere.

This is my first Chanel, and I love everything about it so far. The application was a dream. The color is GORGEOUS (although I’ve actually seen mostly green in it instead of gold). I just hope I can keep from buying more of them, because my budget is not really up for the challenge. :)

  108. Collar says:

In response to bobbigirl1999 Chanel’s newest color is Rouge Carat. I have the Chanel Peridot, Quartz and Graphite and of them all, I like the Peridot best.

  109. Nail_Guy says:

My trick to creating a similar feel (but not a legitimate dupe) was applying Essie’s Shine of the Times over Rimmel’s Rags to Riches. SOTT really brings out the gold flecks in RTR and creates a pseudo-duochrome effect.

Since Peridot is $26.00 and the other two are $7.99 (SOTT) and $4.99 (RTR), and you can put SOTT over anything else, I feel I got more bang for my buck.

  110. Heather says:

Avon has a similar, limited edition nail color called Green Goddess. The color is slightly more pine green and less golden than Peridot but the difference isn’t huge.
