Deborah Lippmann “Get This Party Started” Preview for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

More like, let’s get this GLITTER party started! As part of Nordstrom’s annual Anniversary Sale, Deborah Lippmann has yet again put together a glitzed out set of glitter polishes called Get This Party Started.

Nothing says ‘Party’ like the magnetic sparkle of glitter. So for the biggest party season of the year, I’ve created shades that truly dazzle. Get This Party Started, a set of three glitters, was inspired by the overwhelming demand for my best selling Happy Birthday, a glittery party in a bottle. The set includes Happy Birthday, along with two new variations of the sparkling shade: Forget You and Candy Shop. They’re both packed with the same unique hexagon-shaped glitter that gives Happy Birthday its magnificent glint, only Forget You has a sheer black base and Candy Shop a bubblegum pink.

I love how festive all three look and feel, whether wrapped a round a champagne glass or peeping out of a glamorous pump. But what I truly love the most: how a few coats of any shade instantly transform you into the life of the party.

The set (l-r): Happy Birthday, Candy Shop, Forget You

The Deborah Lippmann Get This Party Started set launches on July 15th 2011 during the Nordstrom Anniverary Sale. The set will retail for $42. Pre-orders officially begin July 5th though I hear some stores are accepting them now.

Thoughts on Get This Party Started? Will you be picking up the set when it comes out? Or will you wait for the individual colors to come out in August? What is your favorite Deborah Lippmann glitter? Is there a specific type of glitter you wish she would come out with? I would love to see an emerald version of Lady Sings The Blues.

    omggggg candy shop!

  2. MJ says:

I wish oh how I wish that she would do a purple/teal version of Across the Universe. I love DL glitters. I am of the firm belief NO ONE does them better. A cool holographic glitter would be nice too.

  3. Sandoz says:

I *really* like Candy Shop, and I don’t already have Happy Birthday. But Forget You the same as Happy Birthday, only with a black base instead of clear? I can’t really see myself using both–I’d just layer HB over black. Oh, and I seem to remember that some people have had issues with the glitter in HB losing color… did that issue ever get fixed?

  4. Styrch says:

This is not lighting me up this year. I was hoping for more plays on Lady Sings the Blues. Like you, a green version, or even a sunset colored version. But Forget You looks like a darker version of Happy Birthday and Candy Shop… could you get the same effect layering Happy Birthday over pink (thus more cheaply)? I think I’ll be staying away from this one this year sadly.

  5. Ashley says:

I need Forget You to live. I wear Happy Birthday pretty frequently, and I think it would look awesome in a black base.

  6. saba says:

    Please please please do swatches!!!

  7. ach167 says:

    Sooo excited!!! I need swatches!

Happy Birthday is my go to birthday gift!

  8. Em says:

OMG I LOVE THESE GLITTERS! (curse my inability to pay $48 for these!!!)

  9. melindavega says:

i LOVE the pink! i will wait until august since i already have HB.

  10. kelliegonzo says:

my jaw is LITERALLY on the floor!!!!!!! i can’t handle the EPICNESSSS!!!!

  11. Go!Spa says:

MUST-SEE “Candy Shop” on…what a FUN color!!! Love it – thx for the post :)

  12. AHHH! I’m glad I never bought Happy Birthday because I need this set.

  13. KarenD says:

I am a sucker for Lippmann glitters, but since I already have Happy Birthday, I’ll probably wait for the other two to be available on their own. Maybe I’ll manage to wait, I mean.

I’d love a purple Across the Universe.

  14. love4lacquer says:

OMG this looks so fun, plus my birthday is July, I need to get the pink one!!

  15. flipflopgal says:

O! M! G! I am dying over all 3 but especially the pink one! Candy Shop? All 3 are gorgeous, but something about the pink one is pretty f’n fabulous!

  16. Melissa says:

I really like Candy Shop. It stands out to me in the set. Forget You sort of seems like a darker version of Happy Birthday.

  17. Maddie says:

I was so looking forward to the Nordstrom set, but I’m feeling kinda let down…I already have Happy Birthday, and I’m guessing you could get the same effect of Candy Shop and Forget You by just layering HB over pink or black. I’ll wait to see swatches of these, but I’m predicting I won’t shell out 50 bucks for a rehash of the same lacquer that I already own.
I do agree about an emerald Lady…I’d also like to see a purple, or a turquoise, version of it.

  18. Rachel Kurtz says:

I would love this set, but don’t know that I will put down the money for it. I bought a cheaper Happy Birthday “dupe” but think I will not be happy until I have the real thing. The Candy Shop one really appeals to me. I may purchase them one at a time and leave out the Forget You. Unless, of course, you swatch them and they are just too wonderful to pass up!

  19. Nat says:

How does Happy Birthday compare to Forget You?

  20. Cha rliane says:

looks so funn! especially candy shop. can’t wait to see swatches.

  21. Olivia says:

omg I love that. I wish they made a mini set!

  22. Ariel says:

The thing I love most about Deborah Lippmann is that she seems to have such a fun time designing her polishes. It’s like, pure joy in a bottle. Love. Love. Love.

  23. Chynna says:

Honestly, I’m disappointed. I feel like this is a lazy cop out set.

  24. Sally says:

I’m on to you Debbie! With Milani Gems, these are easier to franken so I’ll hang on to my $ :P

  25. Stephanie says:

oooh, I’ve never bought a Lippmann yet but I want that Candy Shop.

  26. I’m disappointed….48 bucks??? I’ll take Wet n’ Wild ‘Party of Five Glitters’ for 1.99 and mix it with other colors. So what if the glitter is not a hexagon shape, I just saved 46 bucks.

    • All Lacquered Up says:

The post originally said $48 but I received an email with a correction. The price is $42.

  27. Serena says:

OMG! I was just thinking I would love an emerald version of Deborah Lippman’s glitters. It could be paired with Ruby Red Slippers and be called Emerald City.

Will you be able to show swatches of the polishes in this set? I’d really like to get it.

    • Maddie says:

How cute would that be…a trio of Ruby Red Slippers, Emerald City, and with Yellow Brick Road…lol!

  28. NailPolishFan says:

“Get the Party Started” sounds like she named it after that Black Eyed Peas Song. And “Forget You” from that Ceelo Green song. I love this collection.Even though glitters and horrible to remove, but these would look so good for layering.

    • All Lacquered Up says:

Deb names all of her polishes after songs. She trained as a singer and started doing nails to support herself while she pursued singing. She has performed at Feinstein’s and has a CD as well.

  29. G says:

I will have to decide once I see swatches, but if they look really good… They will be mine.

  30. KayDiKat says:

I wish this set didn’t contain HB because I already own it. If you end up doing swatches, Michelle, could you show how Candy Shop and Forget You look like next to Happy Birthday over a pink and black? I’m guessing that the colored base would give the mani more depth than the glitter just sitting on top, but I want to see the comps before deciding. Thanks for the sneak peek!

  31. Lizzi says:

Haha! I just preordered the set! Nordstroms’s service is awesome!

  32. Cat says:

I love Happy Birthday, but I feel this set is redundant. All one needs to do is layer HB over a hot pink and Voila! there’s Candy Shop.

  33. Amy says:

I don’t like any of these, Candy Shop looks absolutely vile! Sooooo disappointing.

  34. Naz says:

Candy Shop looks a little…childish. But then again, I never liked pinks anyway. I totally love the look of Forget You though!!

  35. Katie says:

I’m going to wait for the individual colors. I don’t like Happy Birthday (I know, I know!) and I think I feel the same way about Forget You… but I WILL be getting Candy Shop :)

  36. Alisa says:

    Are these polishes full size?

  37. J says:

I’ve never used a Deborah Lippmann glitter before but the only one I want is Candy Shop.

  38. Samarium says:

    I plan to buy this!!

  39. Kristina says:

Happy Birthday and Forget You seem very similar. I too already have HB. Won’t be picking the set up…but the pink looks very cute!

  40. Cam_a says:

I like Candy Shop, but the other two are too similar, so I am disappointed. This collection comes off as rather lazy. It’s pretty much the same polish, just with slightly different bases, and I’m sure most of us would layer Happy Birthday anyway, so whats the point? :/

I was hoping for a green polish ala. Ruby Red Slippers/Across the Universe/Lady Sings the Blues/Bad Romance or even a green version of Razzle Dazzle.

  41. kathyb says:

    omg i need this

  42. I died and went to glitter heaven….

  43. Estivalia says:

I’m still drooling over Happy Birthday since I saw it paired with “I know what boys like” in your post. Awesomeness made glitter!

Wish I could find these polishes locally, sigh!

    Anyway, greetings from Chile :)

  44. Nicole says:

yup, I’ll be getting these for sure…and I love the idea of an emerald “lady sings the blues”…I can see it in my head already! from these comment’s to Deborah Lippmann’s ear, I hope!

  45. I admit that I am intrigued.
But how is Forget You different from Happy Birthday?
If it’s the same glitter in a dark tinted base, I’m gonna be mad.

    • All Lacquered Up says:

From what I can tell by swatching them on a nail art wheel, they all have the same glitter, it’s just with different base colors; clear, pink & sheer black.

  46. Susan says:

Candy Shop looks like a lot of fun, but honestly, I can’t afford this set. I do like multi-size glitter, so I might eventually check out the colors one by one. Can’t say I’m blown away though…

  47. Karoline - Nationail Photographic says:

Woow! I live it!! Have to Get this set, no doubt about that!! :)

  48. Fabienne says:

The pink one is cute, and the black one, pretty epic, but I agree that you can probably just buy HB and layer for the same effect as the other two and save your $$ for more original polishes.

  49. reeree says:

OMG I need to get my hands on this!

*pays excessive shipping fees to Australia*

  50. Loren says:

I’m soooooo buying this set!! Pink and Black = Awesome!

  51. Omg i want all of those glitters asap! :)

  52. steph says:

Maddie I was thinking the same thing… Same effect by layoring. Candy shop is pretty cool though.

  53. Jackie S. says:

    I want them ALL!!!

  54. Amarysso says:

As much as I love glitters, and BOY DO I LOVE THEM, I just can’t get into DL HB or any of these others. :/

  55. Althea says:

I’m kind of picky about my multicolor glitters and so far I’ve been happy with the Happy Birthday cousins I own. Honestly it’s nice that Debb is leaving my wallet alone for a change!

  56. Erin says:

I like all of them and I don’t have Happy Birthday, soooooo
I’ll head to Nordstrom in July! Maybe I’ll convince some of my clients to go glitter!
    Expensive but worth it?

  57. Danielle says:

Oooooh, I want Forget You! I bet that black would just make the glitter POP! I’m kinda anti-pink though. :)

  58. Mel says:

Since I already have Happy Birthday (which I love), I’m definitely waiting (rather impatiently) for Candy Shop to come out as individual sale! LOVE it.

  59. Liz says:

Are the polishes in this set minis or regular sized bottles? I do wish the glitters were unique to each color base, but I still love it! Especially Candy Shop! :)

  60. Jen says:

    Candy Shop looks really awesome!

  61. Cat says:

I don’t have Happy Birthday yet, so I am tempted to get this set. However, I see what other people are saying about achieving the same effect using similar base polish color and so I’m less tempted than when I thought they might be slightly different.

  62. Lesley says:

    oh my gosh! want!

  63. Lulle says:

Candy Shop really looks fun! Can’t wait to see swatches!

  64. Caitlyn says:

I’m not a fan of these *blushes*
I never liked “Happy Birthday” and I am not a fan of glitters at all ^^ so … no, they’re not for me ;)
I also don’t think the pink one is even good looking. I can imagine the black one looking quite interesting in combination with the famous little black dress and matching sandals or any other open shoes, but … I’m not sure.

The amounts of colorful glitter remind me of a circus, honestly, and of clowns, and I’ve never liked clowns.
I even find them weird and quite ridiculous – and not in a funny way.

Also, glitter removal is a pita, so … no, this set definitely gets a pass from me and without any regrets.

But I’ve just seen the Color Club Fall 2011 Collection and I want at least 6 shades ^^ so my money’s going to CC instead of Miss Lippmann ;))

  65. Emily says:

These are AMAZING!!! Though glitter removal sucks….Hope someone swatches them soon :)

  66. LY says:

O M G. These are just absolutely gorgeous!!! Hopefully there will be swatches soon :)

  67. Monique says:

I REALLY want to see Forget You on the nail!!

  68. Caroline says:

How fun! I would love to see swatches!

  69. AC Sears says:

I just bought this set in the pre-sale at Nordstroms. They go on so smoothly and beautifully- just like all of Deborah Lippmann’s colors. I put a light coat of Happy Birthday on top of Waking Up in Vegas and wow!

  70. Kitty says:

I could not find the set on deborah lippmann’s website.. where can I buy the set on the net? please help

  71. LucyLocket says:

I desperately want this set but Nordstrom doesn’t ship to Australia =( I will pay someone to send these to Aus for me!

  72. LucyLocket says:

these are now available via the Deborah Lippmann website =)

  73. Alecia Lewis says:

This set is on the Barney’s website and they have free standard shipping.
