My Go To, Last Minute Holiday Manicure – OPI Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow Suede

After a long and lovely Thanksgiving break, I’m back to blogging.  I took a bit of a break to give my nails a rest from swatching and to focus on enjoying the holiday with my family and friends.

The boyfriend and I hosted dinner again this year and all I can say is I am very thankful to have found a man who can cook, and cook well. I’m a disaster in the kitchen and he is a Turkey Day champ!

We packed our schedule pretty full including Cleveland’s Winterfest Wine & Ale Fest downtown Saturday night. Naturally I was running late so I relied on my usual last minute manicure trick, matte nail polish.  It’s a quick drying lifesaver.  Given the holiday theme of the event I opted for a green, OPI Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow, and it’s the perfect shade for the season.

Ever since its debut on the Chanel Cruise 2010-11 collection runway, the beauty interwebs have been buzzing about Chanel Riva.  Even before we knew its name this baby blue nail polish has left us guessing.

Would this be another sellout hit like its pale polish predecessors, Jade and Nouvelle Vague?  Will it include that stunning Chanel subtle shimmer?  More importantly, will it have that “it” factor that makes certain Chanel polishes highly coveted and quickly copied (ie Khakis, Paradoxal, Jade)?

Katy Perry’s Latest Nail Art Creations – Candyland and Glitzy Gray

Katy Perry is one busy lady. Between her recent wedding to Russell Brand, the launch of her own fragrance, Purr, and the free concert she put on for the release of the Windows Phone she is probably going blind from all the camera flashes in her face.

Being photographed at so many public, and not so public, appearances means your makeup, hair and nails have to be on point.  To keep her digits looking perfect, Katy has been relying on Manicurist Pattie Yankee, Executive Technical Director for Dashing Diva.

I spoke with Pattie to find out more about Katy’s candy coated tips from the performance and the glittering gray nails she wore to the Purr launch event yesterday in NYC.  Keep reading to find out how each look was created.

Preview the Chanel Spring 2011 Colors

Thanks to the amazing Sophy Robson we’re getting a sneak peek at the Chanel Spring 2011 Collection polishes that were spotted on the Paris runway back in October.

We knew about Black Pearl and Pearl Drop but there’s also a color called Peche Nacree that I haven’t heard anything about. I wonder if that will be part of a secondary spring collection or summer.

If you want to see what they look like on the nail, head on over to Sophy’s Blog where she included a swatch pic. Now that we can see Black Pearl painted properly on a nail, it’s clear that there’s some green in the color which makes me squeal with delight!

Also, as you notice Sophy started watermarking her images, just like I do.  It’s a shame we have to wreck our photos with an ugly watermark but until people learn to stop using images without giving credit, it’s an unnecessary evil.  Though I guess it’s a compliment that people want to use the photos, right?

Celebrate the Holiday Season with Sugar, Spice and Everything In Between

If you missed the first part of my China Glaze ‘Tis The Season To Be Naughty Or Nice review make sure you check it out to see the blue and greens from this collection.

Today we’re talking about the Golds, Silver and Whites from the sixteen piece collection.  You may remember that my all time favorite white nail polish on the planet is China Glaze White-Kwik-Silvr.  It’s white polish perfection.  So when I spotted a sparkly white coming out for holiday I hoped I would find a WKS twin.

Read on to see if Frosty lived up to my dream and to check out Cheers To You, Jingle Bells, Midnight Kiss and Snow.
